      @@enondebelen I am a ceramic potter but have just recently discovered that I have a mould allergy (absolutely devastated , ceramic clay can have up to 8 varieties of moulds😞😭). Hence why I asked, am looking to change the type of clay I use and change my style of creations. More from practical to decorative but Dachshunds are my muse. I absolutely love your work and am learning lots. Thank you so much for responding and sharing your insight. I think paper clay will be the way to go. I have been very depressed until I stumbled onto your work and I have to say you have given me so much hope. Thank you so much, please keep at it, you just never know how your influencing someone in the right direction. Thank you for taking the time to respond. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    • @enondebelen
      @enondebelen  Год назад

      Thank you. Usually it takes one day, but generally it depends on the weather. The clay might not dry properly if you seal it immediately. Or yes, the seal might have cracks. I haven’t tried it yet though. I really wait for the piece to dry completely. The longer the drying time the better :)

    Beautiful work!!! Could you please explain the process you went through when preparing the clay. I have that problem all the time and can't figure out how to fix it.

    • @enondebelen
      @enondebelen  Месяц назад

      It would really depend on how you work with your clay. In this case, if I remember it correctly, the clay was too soft and I had a hard time sculpting the details. I should have let the clay dry up a bit before using the clay. Overall, I would say, you need to invest quite some time working with clay so you’ll know what is good and what would work for you.

  • @wolfitgood
    @wolfitgood 2 года назад +1

    When you said I didn't prepare the clay well enough, can you explain? I find my chay is too soft and doesn't hold shape....is it the kneading that helps it firm up? Thank you and glad I found your channel.

    • @enondebelen
      @enondebelen  2 года назад +1

      That’s right. It’s by kneading that you get to prep the clay for sculpting. There are some packs of clay that are sometimes too wet or too dry, probably has something to do with how they were stored at the store or how the company packaged the clay. Sometimes it’s already good. You just need to have a good feeling about it that is influenced by experience.
      As for your clay, I think even though the clay is too wet, it could still hold shape. Maybe it has something to do with the type of airdry clay you’re using. I think I have tried something similar to that. I have made a video about it. I’ll get the link for you.

    Hello! Lovely video. I've subscribed.
    I'm curious about the air dry terracotta clay and how "durable" and "waterproof" it is when completed?
    I use a brand from my local craft store (pre-mixed) and anything that I make that is at all delicate is EXTREMELY fragile. A thin walled planter like you've made would have to be JUST for show, as it would absolutely fall apart if used to hold a plant.
    Do you think I might be using bad clay?

    • @enondebelen
      @enondebelen  2 года назад +2

      Hi! I’ve had my airdry clay planters for years, placed a couple of succulents in it (though they died 😅), also had a couple of incidents where it toppled down the floor but it didn’t break. I can say that it is pretty durable. Maybe it has something to do with the brand of clay you use.
