MISC #21 - Unboxing the Nuoman NM-E08 excavator

  • I've been meaning to import an excavator from China for quite some time and earlier this year I finally got around to it.
    I opted for a really small machine on purpose as I want it to be nimble and able to get to areas a bigger machine can't.
    It is really tiny though! It's not as much a mini excavator as it is a micro digger.
    This is just a first quick look after unboxing the machine and I will get back to you with a more in-depth review, as well as videos of the different projects I'll be undertaking with it on my property.
    As always, a very big thank you for watching. Comment, share, like and subscribe to help the channel grow.
    All music taken from the RUclips Audio Library.

    Use steel washers in the fittings to reduce the size of the hose openings for the boom hydraulics....will reduce the speed, and make it less twitchy.

    There is probably nothing wrong with the boom. Once you get used to operating all the controls like you're part of the machine, you will be lifting the boom while pulling the arm in, and curling the bucket all at the same time. This will result in less hydraulic pressure because you'll have like 3 valves open all at once, might even be running the turn table and swinging at the same time, and when everything slows down from that drop in pressure, you will be happy the boom still lifts the dirt out of the hole quickly. Sure it's jumpy with every valve closed and peak full pressure at the hydraulic system, but i bet with some more action you'll get used to it. Not to mention breakin in. Everything is tight cuz it's new, that won't last forever.

    • @MartinNr5
      @MartinNr5  2 года назад +1

      Hi Brett! Thanks for the thorough feedback, and I was hoping for the controls to "settle in" but unfortunately they never did. Not even when I use all the controls at the same time does the boom really work as well as it should. If this would've been the only issue with the machine I would've taken the valve block apart and see if there's anything I could do to fix it but as you can see in my one year review of the machine (ruclips.net/video/gFAkF2i16hw/видео.html) the machine isn't worth the effort unfortunately.

    A little excavator, a bit bigger than this one and also with wider tracks, would be so handy on the farm. The price of a new Japanese excavator can’t be justified. So the choice would come down to a cheap Chinese or a second hand Japanese excavator. Although there is a lot of dislike for cheap Chinese machines at least they give us a choice. Choice is good.

    I have watched two videos by other people that bought mini excavators made by the same company. The teeth on the buckets are flipped over and are on the outside of the bucket. They are supposed to be on the inside. Check out a video by Dig_It_Starnes. He owns a large company and seems to know what he is talking about. He has a video Part II where he shows how the bucket teeth should go.

    Thing needs a counterweight to be more stable when operating of anything weld a 100 pounds or so to back of it second thing is it really that weak and wouldnt even move those rocks out the dirt when you're operating it do you have the throttle all the way up cause if not that will also cause the controls to jerk on smaller machines I've noticed

    • @MartinNr5
      @MartinNr5  2 года назад +1

      Hi Nina!
      I was contemplating adding a counterweight, but I don't know the tolerances of the material and welding so I'm reluctant to put more stress on it before I've done some more research.
      It's a lot stronger than I show in this video, I'm simply inexperienced with the machine. I have some material that better shows off what it can do but I haven't had time to post it yet.

    • @MartinNr5
      @MartinNr5  2 года назад

      Thanks for the suggestion Neil. I've found that it's a balance of having enough leverage to open the valve and having less motion when actuating the valve. In the end the valve blocks are unfortunately of such poor quality that it doesn't matter much how I use the controls.

    • @MartinNr5
      @MartinNr5  2 года назад

      Hi Dave. I later added controls to adjust the pressure specifically to the boom but that doesn't really help. Adjusting the pressure from the pump to the entire valve block assembly results in the rest of the controls being to slow to be useful, unfortunately.
      It is a very small machine but I'll be posting much more content that I haven't had time to edit due to work where I show what you can and can't do with it so feel free to check in at times, or subscribe ;), to see it in action.

    Two words: pilot controls.
    For the small additional cost, upgrade to a pilot control machine. It's especially useful for novice operators.
    Very surprised that single-banger Koop meets Euro emission standards and is allowed to be imported. But I vaguely remember Norway isn't part of the Euro zone (it's all so muddled). Regardless, it's obnoxiously noisy and I'd never own a machine with such a engine, however cheap.
