This game was released as far as October 2011, and it was apparently intended as Colonial Marines for the DS. The concept of marines is very similar in this one. As you progress you meet other marines and you can recruit them (if any of your original teammates gets killed or disappears). I lost two marines, mostly on purpose so I can play with some others. The only difference the new marines make is that sometimes they are saying different stuff during the dialogues, which is overused through the game.

This is a game i would love to see re released on modern platforms as i think its an absolute gem of a game.
I love how they incorporated the UPP into this from William Gibson's unproduced screenplay for Alien 3. Nice little homage to a script that's become internet famous.

This is a great game. It really captures the atmosphere of the Alien universe and pays due respect to the source material.

A million times better than Aliens Colonial Marines. I'll never forget playing that game and being amazed by how awful it was.

Kevin Edward. I bought it for $7 and wow I'm not one for graphics at all but I'm being serious here when I say that the game looked like an original Xbox title. When it was announced, I said that it'd be awful because I was very disappointed by Aliens Vs Predator and wow I got lots of backlash for that. I was the last one laughing when it bombed and the company was sued for false advertisement. The gameplay was broken and I made it to level 3 before I stopped.
haha you saw it in a more polished state than I did then, I was a day 1 full price "Victim" lol it was shocking, sadly before steam refunds were a thing as well.
It's not even the gameplay or graphics. The story was a total scam, they advertised the game as having major retcons, but in the game they just "are" with no explanation, just short of "a wizard did it" or handwaved in the laziest way possible. The DLC explains Alien 3's confusing opening credits and the Hicks switcheroo in the stupidest way possible. The Alien is treated as a cannon fodder space animal (not as the horrific nightmare from the movies or the lying trailer) and WY is promoted to saturday morning cartoon villain, a dream for fanwanking AVP kids without the P.
And don't even get me started on the "after having 2 movies where chestburster surgery was considered, foreshadowed or even DONE, turns out that LOL YOU CAN'T." diabolus ex machina crap.
I played Aliens: Colonial Marines back when it first came out. Hilariously, I saw the building blocks of failure months before the game's release and no one wanted to hear it. And then it came out and everyone saw it, and I could only laugh and say " _I told you so._ " . Either way, when I then played the game, the main issue with the game is the story. It has zero passion and zero intellect. Numerous of times, your squad mate will yell " _WE DON'T LEAVE MARINES BEHIND_ " even though, you blatantly leave several dozen behind at every opportunity.
However, the game wasn't entirely bad. The moment that stood out as solid gold was when you had to escape from the Raven, who I refereed to as the _King Xenomorph_ personally due to it's aggressive nature. That section was tense, and very frightful, followed immediately by a very slow, and eerie scene with the self-imploding Xenomorphs, which was another fantastic segment as it was a very tense moment. You'd move, hear a noise and look behind you, and find one of them right up at you, trying to determine if you are alive or nothing, for itself could not detect you clearly.
And then there was the final battle. Another moment where I felt sheer cold terror at the sight of the Queen coming into view slowly. While many have complained about the game'y nature of the final boss, I found it to my liking for the most part. However, these were the parts that was good, that stood out. The rest, are as bland as they are forgettable. Honestly, *Never* forget that this game became canon because people were miffed about Hicks and Newt dying at the start of Alien 3. People who could not accept a pointless death, nearly ended up ruining the entire franchise. The blame is not solely on Gearbox therefore.
I recently purchased the game through steam along with all DLC's for around 5$, and I struggle to find even 5$ justified for it, but I mainly want to play the DLC which I have seen a video of and I know is far superior compared to the game itself - the DLC featuring the young lady and the other colonists. Along with this game, I also finally picked up Alien Isolation: I guess my nightmares will continue ~
But this game, Aliens Infestation.

Metroid was inspired by the Alien franchise.
And now, Alien takes after Metroid.

Its a shame the flamethrower is so bad, seemed ok at long range though. We need to invest more into elevators. Only the best protection from the Xenos.

I started the game today and all of my team died to the first boss except paulson(it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out that grenades worked better than missiles)

@@JohnDoe-pe9ew Alien: Isolation its more based on the original film. This one and Colonial Marines are based on Aliens. The franchise have two faces... action or horror.

@@JohnDoe-pe9ew It's hard to compare a Nintendo DS game with a PS4 game. Being a 2D game doesn't made it bad, in my opinion Aliens Infestation has a very solid gameplay; and transfers very well "Aliens" feeling into a 2D Metroidvania style. We have very a few Alien 2D side scrolling shooter games and in my opinion Infestation it's the best (Even better than Konami's Aliens Arcade Game).

I don't know man. After watching it again, I stand by my previous comment. Just seems a bit dull, especially compared to the fast, over the top action of Contra.

You know, my brother got this game when it first came out. It's too bad neither of us gave it a chance, because it looks pretty fun once you breach the licensing surface!

I would had preferred a dual ending, good and grim. ALIEN TRILOGY had such an ending where you won and went to hypersleep, and then on another escaped ship it showed that it was infested and had a sort of lame jump scare but still it was the actual final scene and that is cool. They could had implemented this here, I mean not a jump scare, but perhaps a panel scene with a grim ending.

I was fortunate at the time to have a walkthrough in GB Action magazine, but even it did not tell anything about the ventilator puzzles which was really annoying.
Also annoying were the useless items, you really wonder what their purpose was before you realize they have none.
Also a shame that the flame thrower was so useless.
I have this game. It was a really fun game to play.

I thought this was a hidden gem that I could pick up while i save money for more well know titles that are more exspencive but that all changed when I saw the current price tags. Now I'm sad.

Not a huge fan of this game. I felt like it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be survival horror, Metroid, or Contra.
Another game ruined by unnecessary dialogue drama. It wouldn't be so bad if the writing was good but it isn't.
