I have a 2018 octavia with the same 1.5 TSI engine. 150 bhp doesn't sound like much but it does 0-60 in 8 seconds. Fast enough for everyday driving, plus actually really fun on the twisty roads. Fuel economy is great too, did a 100 mile trip up the M1 at 70 mph and the computer was saying 57mpg. Great engine
@@RustyHeartsTOV you're right. Honestly had know idea they did a "Dry" gearbox. After a little research, i don't think they're as reliable as the ones with gearbox oil. I prefer a manual gearbox, much more fun to use.
I have a 1.4 Tsi golf 5 gt sport with 140hp. These engines are criticized alot for being unreliable. I'm driving mine for 2 years alrdy and I'm about to hit 200k km and no problems for me yet. I'm trying to not to floor it while it's cold though. All in all great engines to have fun on the road and smoke out some other guys.
I mean they definitely are unreliable...timing chains + tensioners, water pumps and (in later models) pistons were all prone to failure. Still, if you use the correct fuel, service them regularly with low saps vw 504 spec oil and have a bit of mechanical sympathy they can last 200 k kms. Most other vw engines will last 50% - 100% longer though

This is a very good car. I had it for 3 years and now swapped with a Golf 7 GTI. The GTI is way more agile and faster but the 1.5 TSI with 150 BHP is a fantastic car and very fuel efficient.
