    I'm a glider pilot and one thing that you learn really quickly is that the sight picture is the only way to control your speed when you are thermalling. The thermals can wreak havoc with the ASI so unless you want to chase your tail trying follow all of the fluctuations you learn to just keep the pitch attitude constant with respect to the horizon, and the airspeed will follow.

    Hi Jim - I like your videos and tips and I'm currently reading your book. When I learned to fly, I was never taught this way (but wish I had been) - it seems so natural.
    If I can just make a suggestion, it looks as though you may have duplicated a section of this video and the end of the clip.

    How can I use this while in a landing looking at the horizon and not to the ground and runway?
