    Love that you are transparently giving honest reviews of the strengths and weaknesses of your own frames. Keep up the good work.

    I keep revisiting trying to skate flat & It's just not for me. I'm basically a grinder blader. I don't skate long distances, don't do huge gaps, don't carve bowls...so I don't really feel the need to bend over backwards to skate flat & find solutions for wheel bite. I've been an antirocker baby since day 1 and I'm too old of a dog to be taught new tricks.

      I tried flat for a bit, but it’s not for me either. Been skating anti-rocker my entire time blading. It just feels more natural

      Yea its not worth it at all.
      I also like the ground grip of an anti setup too.

    I started trying to push my friends into flat around 2012 and have ridden that way since but would really love to get back into anti. I love maneuverability but miss the safety of grinding with "training wheels" on... oysi aren't the answer for me, to long to heavy. Not the type of blading that I am missing...
    I don't know if anyone can relate.

    I have the same issue with top acids and a tight groove. Otherwise I pretty much always prefer a tight groove. Even for farves.

    • @busyboxst7
      @busyboxst7 2 года назад

      I used to skate Salomon frames w/ DIY h blocks but with the wheels rockered IN, very tight groove, block hung low enough to prevent any bite. Tighter grooves = less shifting around, more predictable for sure.

    To me it looks like the problem with the back farv was more to do with the lower frame height. This of course gives a more upright angle, but you're still locking/doing the trick at a lower angle (what you're used to with the Primes). Meaning your frame is barely touching or not touching the ledge at all, all your weight is on the boot. Combine that with the smaller B2 groove and you're not really "hooking" the frame, and it slips off.

    law try fp insoles sometime. They completely mitigate impact imo.

    The one trick I simply can't do on flat right now is frontside royale. Backside royale all day long, frontside not even once! It's funny the different difficulties we all face when switching.

    • @busyboxst7
      @busyboxst7 2 года назад +1

      Soul width vs. frame height / groove depth might be the issue. Royales should slide like butter if the setup is good. That is, IF the problem is wheel bite for you…

    I'm kinda stuck on skating flat now, I used to go between 2 & 4 wheels but now I skate 4 & 5 big wheel setups more than aggressive I can't deal with adjusting to skating 2 wheels.
    Props on that top acid, it was textbook! Talking about impact if you have space in your skates have you ever tried the footprint gamechanger insoles? I've got some and you can jump high and smash your feet down and not really feel any shock.

  • @19851987eggy
    @19851987eggy 2 года назад +1

    I lost back full torque when I skated adapts. The soul plays and and my back side grinds don’t mesh well

  • @busyboxst7
    @busyboxst7 2 года назад +1

    Slipping out of farfs will be fixed if you land fakie (backwards for any newbs reading this). It will make it more likely you are perpendicular to the ledge, so more effectively lined up with the frame and boot groove in the soul plate…. Some of the wheel bite is likely due to a relatively standard/low height frame + pretty wide souls on the adapts, right? Modern souls are often a bit wide for skating flat on a lot of frames. A bit narrower soul (dremel?) would make it more “booted over” or “boned” over as some say (bringing wheels away from the ledge). Probably preaching to the choir 🤣

  • @j4nk3n
    @j4nk3n 2 года назад +1

    With how modern frames are skating flat is a fantastic option, still requires some accuracy but super mobile, I still think they should sell very hard large wheels for flat like 58mm+ 95+ A for middle wheels

  • @almostremembered

    You'll get that back farv just a bit of adjustment and you'll be good forever if you keep riding flat!

    @backtoblading any tips to dampen shock when rolling the prime frames? Love the way these ride but really feel it in my knees after skating. Would be amazing if there was a non-metal core version of these frames for old knees!

    • @kristenmoon4405
      @kristenmoon4405 Год назад +1

      I’d imagine you could do one of 3 things.
      1. Get softer wheels (85a is a good place to start) The extra softness helps to absorb the shock.
      2. Get a shock absorbing insole to put in the boot.
      3. Get an under boot pad to raise the heel slightly. Helps to soak up some of the harsh hits.

  • @kristenmoon4405

    So, I likely missed it along the way, but what exactly is the difference between balance 2 and prime? I’m trying to decide on my build and I’m considering both but there is very little info explaining the nuances between both for consumers. :)

    • @BacktoBlading
      @BacktoBlading  Год назад +1

      Balance 2 are all plastic, smaller groove, lower ride, $60. Prime are metal/plastic, deeper groove, taller ride, $120.
      Reminding me I need to update our website :/

    My point of view on why flat is popular
    As a person who wan't to coming back to rollerblade, and first time try aggressive inline, i choosed a flat setup simply cause 1. it feel less weird to me than antirocker, seem's to be easier to simply roll around / 2. i feel like if i learn first with flat setup, since it seem's harder, i will be able to grind later with anti rocker too without much easier (i don't plan it but to try some friends roller etc it can be cool) 3. feeling more stable overall i guess, so yeah as a newbie point of view exept for easier grind, i don't see why i would start anti rocker over flat (i don't plan to only only grind if the future so yeah)
    For sure if i would only grind maybe anti rocker was better i guess

    • @BacktoBlading

    That's a good thing that you're meeting up with some folks to skate with. Always good to have others to feed off of and a set of eyes to advise you if you're having trouble nailing a trick. Skating alone for the sake of making these videos might be impeding your progress. In all honesty, you've been back at it for what, 4-5 years now & the fact that you're still struggling to do basic grinds with any consistency... There might come a time when folks might question the worth of your skate/skate parts reviews. Yeah sure, he's been making frames since the 90's but can't do a topside...just saying. No malicious intentions with my comment. Just keeping it real
