An old friend of mine introduced me to Slipknot with this song when I was in middle school. He loved music and was a great kid, but troubled, like me. Drugs, alcohol, bad decisions. I crawled out from under my own addiction at seventeen and lost touch with a lot of people from my old life, although I wished them peace and success in their own lives from a far. I hadn't spoken to Danny in close to twenty years. He grew up to be a musician, I heard, which didn't surprise me. Music was his life, even when we were kids. He didn't play this. This is a sample called the "Amen break" which is featured in many songs (such as "Straight outta Compton") and is most featured in the Drum and Bass genre, quite possibly leading to the creation of the genre entirely. You can search for the "Amen break." It's the most sampled drum loop in the world.

@@LifeLongBruhGamer exactly. His screams on this album are brutal, especially on this track. I'm sure he was in some decent pain in between shows while on tour. If you're in to crazy vocalists from metal/hardcore bands, one of my top screamers would be Jacob Bannon of Converge. Def worth a listen. Start off with Dark Horse, Concubine, or especially their anthems like Jane Doe and The Saddest Day. Crazy talented guitars and drums too
Fck Slipknot, Joey did everything for the band never cared for him, they used him when he was useful the moment he got sick he was kicked out of the band. Sick human being man.
Corey Taylor: “We recorded Eyeless with all of us in the same room and holding on for dear life. The frenzy that came out of us was amazing. We recorded the songs at, like, twice the speed we’d written them. It was so frenetic and charged with nervous aggression. I threw up so many times. You can hear me retching in the background of this while Ross Robinson [producer] laughs at me. But if anyone was going to capture us at that moment, it was Ross.”
Iowa is more diverse with it's emotions with songs like Left Behind being more "i'm sad and angry" type anger than "i'm gonna murder the fuck out of you" type of Self Titled. Atleast, that's how i experience it
Alright its been the first hour since Joey died. And I just had to come here and appreciate this fucking drum quality. People die all the time, but those dear to us, and those who made a legendary impact. Live forever
You dont use your throat when you scream or sing like that cuzz that would cause lots of damage permanently, dont say he can do it cuzz it a technique you learn to sream do not damage your vocals
Does anyone else get an uneasy and eerie feeling when the beat comes in at 0:02. I do because it's the feeling of trying to run from a monster or Unidentified Creature.
A scrambling, stumbling, rest loaded breakbeat - anxiety in aural form. Paired with the deep distorted strings I really see the "running from something only identifiable as a threat" The breakdown could be interpreted as either winning the chase or getting eviscerated 😅 sounds more victory to me.

Yeah this was the first song I heard by them back in the 90s at the arse end of a Kerrang demo CD. Was kinda disappointed they didn't do more drum n' bass, breakcore style metal. Check out Bong Ra if you like that.
The greatest attribute Joey had to me is how he wrote his parts. Everyone talks about his speed but what makes him memorable to me is his writing it’s creative and he knows how to apply this crazy style that still has groove and adds so much to the song. He reminds me of David Sylveria of Korn (way way better technically of course) but he just knows exactly what the song needs a better “musician” then drummer maybe

If you're in to crazy vocalists from metal/hardcore bands, one of my top screamers would be Jacob Bannon of Converge. Def worth a listen. Start off with Dark Horse, Concubine, or especially their anthems like Jane Doe and The Saddest Day. Crazy talented guitars and drums too
The BEST Slipknot song
I’m blind and I live in California. I can confirm that you cannot see California unless you have Marlon Brando’s eyes.

this is my favorite slipknot song...
It's mine too w/ The blister exists
Overall, I'd say:
1) SlipKnot - Eyeless
2) Rammstein - Mein herz brennt
3) Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams
In my opinion this is your favorite slipknot song
bmth cover was cool too
I am crying
why?
Slipknot's earlier stuff sounds like they record their music during a bad shroom trip. I fucking love it.
All I've listened to the last 2 days is Wait and Bleed and Spit it out lol
+dbzguru32 Well they were on all sorts of drugs recording their older stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if they actually were on a bad shroom trip.
That's fuckin awesome

Legends never die!
Fck Slipknot, Joey did everything for the band never cared for him, they used him when he was useful the moment he got sick he was kicked out of the band. Sick human being man.

Joey still can't believe. Forever a god among drummers.
Joey Jordison's intro still leaves me awestruck every time I hear it
You know that's Craig's sample board, right?
you mean Sid Wilson, thats him using a vinyl scratch
OP is talking about the drums that come in right after the sample. AKA Joey's actual intro.
I believe that is the amen drum break. Or a variation of the amen. Well known in jungle and drum and bass
its a fucking amen break lol xddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

Yea I was wondering if it was just me

Corey Taylor: “We recorded Eyeless with all of us in the same room and holding on for dear life. The frenzy that came out of us was amazing. We recorded the songs at, like, twice the speed we’d written them. It was so frenetic and charged with nervous aggression. I threw up so many times. You can hear me retching in the background of this while Ross Robinson [producer] laughs at me. But if anyone was going to capture us at that moment, it was Ross.”
Yup

Joey Jordison= LEGEND
People say Iowa is heavier, pppppft. This album is on another level of energy that I have never heard before.
Iowa had some heft in it, I'm not gonna lie
@@rhysmorgan7311 I love Iowa as an album. I just think the energy of the self titled is higher.
@@DistortedPortrait Iowa is heavier. But yes this album is a different energy 🙂
Iowa is heavier on the lyrics ;)
Iowa is more diverse with it's emotions with songs like Left Behind being more "i'm sad and angry" type anger than "i'm gonna murder the fuck out of you" type of Self Titled. Atleast, that's how i experience it
Just heard the news about Joey passing away in sleep at 46... Rest in Peace, you were the game changing drummer...
Joey: LEGEND
Sad💔💔
This song keeps me going
Alright its been the first hour since Joey died. And I just had to come here and appreciate this fucking drum quality. People die all the time, but those dear to us, and those who made a legendary impact. Live forever

Corey Taylor's vocal chords: Why you bully me ?
Oh my fucking god this made my day
You dont use your throat when you scream or sing like that cuzz that would cause lots of damage permanently, dont say he can do it cuzz it a technique you learn to sream do not damage your vocals
Hahahah
@@Dosemen you use your vocal chords to make that sound
Shawn Engelbrecht yes but Corey Taylor started to take lessons in 2004 in Iowa album and in this albums he was LITERALLY YELLING
Does anyone else get an uneasy and eerie feeling when the beat comes in at 0:02. I do because it's the feeling of trying to run from a monster or Unidentified Creature.
I feel like someone like teleported or something
fr it works tho
It’s a distortion of ease yourself back into consciousness
Im pretty sure that's the point
A scrambling, stumbling, rest loaded breakbeat - anxiety in aural form.
Paired with the deep distorted strings I really see the "running from something only identifiable as a threat"
The breakdown could be interpreted as either winning the chase or getting eviscerated 😅 sounds more victory to me.
I just started listening to slipknot a few months ago. Love this song
Legendary song. Will be talked about until the end of time. One of my gateway songs to heavy music.

check out Amen, Brother by the Winstons. That's where the drum loop comes from.
