It is a good idea to add the powdered detergent because detergent cleans laundry better that soap. Thanks for the great tips.

Honestly, the Foca is a great cleaning detergent on it's own, that is fine with just the boosters without the bar soap, or keep one for stains.

I have my own recipe of a cheap powdered detergent (1 cup) and grated laundry soap (1/2 cup) and 3 table spoons of baking soda. I dissolve all the ingredients in hot water and let it sit for a while to activate them. Then I pour the mix in a bucket with cold water, as a pre soak treatment before the washing machine. It really DOES clean extremely well (better than the powdered detergent alone). I save the washing soda or borax or percarbonate for extreme cases of stubborn stains or very soiled clothes.

Add enough borax to cover the blades of the food processor and it will grade your zote to a fine powder I love it!! Give it a try add more borax if needed until it becomes a fine laundry powder and just mix it with Foca it’s actually a really good brighter and stain remover!! Great mix I also add baking soda 4lb box and wow fresh it helps keep clothes fresh longer and definitely kills odors!! And I also add scent beads but you don’t have to but I do recommend the baking soda!!

Shred your Zote into food processor in small batches, then add washing soda or Borax to the bowl. Pulse a few times. Powder will dry out the soap and result in a fine powder.

I personally use homemade laundry detergent which I made it the same way you did with the actual same ingredients for a year.🤔
Then I began to have problems with my washing machine as well as my daughter began to get allergic reaction to the laundry soap.
I also noticed that the soap was not fully dissolving and I would find bits of it on my clothing.😮
Also I realize I'm using soap bars and store-bought dry laundry detergent to make DIY laundry detergent.😮
It made no sense at all.
Why not just use some of that dry laundry detergent from the store.😮
I will stick with name brand liquid laundry detergent one tablespoon for small loads and 2 tablespoon for large loads it works better for me.
And I will stick with white vinegar with some pure essential oils for scent about 3 tbsp to 6 tablespoons per load only don't overdo it with the white vinegar.😍
And I will stick with some essential pure oil on a wooly ball for my dryer.😍
If it really doesn't clean your clothes properly not worth it
If it strips the color from your clothing not worth it.
If it breaks down and destroys any elastic bands or your stretchy pants not worth it.
If you get a residue on your clothing not worth it.
If you get a rash from it not worth it.😮
Cheaper is not always the best.😮
It does not work for me maybe it works for other people maybe try it in liquid.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

You do have to do what works best for you, and have to weigh out one’s own personal pros and cons and do what is best for you and your family . I am fortunate that your experience has not been my own , I only use about 2 tablespoons in a large load so that may be why I don’t have any leftover residue and haven’t noticed any negative affects on our clothing . I actually feel like it cleans better than the other detergents I have used .I have went back to my original method of using all the same ingredients minus the foca just to save a little extra . Like you, I also like to use vinegar as my fabric softener ( I use about a 1/4 cup) and the dryer balls . Thanks for your feedback on your experience and also thanks for watching!🥰

Use the Soak cycle on your washer. It gives your homemade laundry detergent more mileage by giving it more chance to dissolve. Whichever recipe you use, check the PH ro make sure it is between 7-10; the ideal for detergent.

What is the difference between the Arm and Hammer super washing soda and the Borax which is also a laundry booster? I don't have the Arm and Hammer and was wondering if it is necessary for anyone's opinion for me to go and buy it

    • @honeybriarfarmstead
      @honeybriarfarmstead Год назад +1

I searched it on Google and the was what I found..
“Borax is most effective in hotter water, while washing soda is perfect for any temperature. When thinking about doing your own laundry detergent, consider that Borax is perfectly fine, but if you're having trouble getting things really clean then replacing borax with washing soda might be the way to go.”
If it was me I wouldn’t go buy anything extra if you’re wanting to just use what you have. I haven’t had the washing soda before and substituted it out for baking soda but I’m pretty positive that you would be fine without either the cool thing about recipes like this is you can kinda tweak and change it according to what you have . I’m sure some formulas do my clean the clothes better but they all will still clean your clothes.Hope that helps.

They are both alkaline water softeners. Borax is 1/10 as soluble as WS. It’s old fashioned because it was used in hot water.
Recipes that include both B and WS demonstrate that the maker doesn’t understand the ingredients and is probably just copying a recipe posted by an equally clueless mommy blogger.

I want to say it lasted me about a month and a half to two months depending on how much laundry I’m doing sometimes I still make it the same way, but I’ll leave out the Folke, but then I only use like 2 tablespoons per load. When I do do the Folke up can put a little bit more like a fourth a cup.
