Great idea for a Christmas present.
i love spring bulbs
This is a great idea, I am planning my garden to have plants blossoming at each season so that there will be flowers all year, I am putting it on my list
February is an excellent bloom start time!
The iris reticulata actually came up in January! 😍
Thank you I love the choice of bulbs
Thank You for all the lovely video's this year, much appreciated. 💖
Thank you :)
Thank you for the great Tipp,i just made an arrangement of paperwhite narcissus on a tray of pebbles and water.i hope to have a lovely scented flower bouquet for Christmas inside the house 😊
Love this idea. Too hot here for bulbs I think lol. Enjoy!
Adding daffodils this year!
Love this! Is there a good substitute for the Iris bulbs? (Not a fan of Iris) 😅
Just skip them? 🙂 If you wanted to, snowdrops could replace the early blooming variety, though.
A way to have flowers all season in a small patch
I live in zone 3 in Wyoming, USA. Tulip bulbs survive in our ground. 1) If I did a planter like yours, how likely are my bulb to survive in my garage over winter? 2) do I need to do anything special, when my bulbs have finished to dead leaf state, to help the bulbs stay healthy, like continuing watering, etc.? 3) Is it reasonable to plant late summer to fall perenials with these bulbs to have flowers all growing season long?
All great questions! Containers get colder than soil in the ground, so bulbs are more susceptible to cold. You can store your container in an unheated and frost-free place, but you need to keep the potting moist. Not wet, just barely moist. Move it to a bright, frost-free place when shoots appear. I've not tried it with summer bloomers, but if there's space in the container, why not try? As for feeding - do it during the growth stages (green leaves).
@@Lovelygreens Thank you
How does gravel at top stop the potting mix from washing away due to rain and snow?
Have you ever poured water on top of potting mix in a container? You'll see a pit form where you pour. Over wet winters, the same thing happens through time, especially in downpours and storms. Fine gravel protects the potting mix from that. It works as a heavy mulch.
When it’s done blooming what do you do with the bulbs? Can they be kept in the same container for following season?
Yes! It can last a couple of years, but after that, I take the bulbs out once the foliage naturally dies back and plant them in the garden.
@@Lovelygreens Why do they need to be planted into the garden after a couple of years? Is it due to lack of space and nutrients so they get exhausted? Will you lasagna them in place in the ground as well?
So after this video, was your bulb lasagna a success or a failure?
It was fantastic! The first flowers came up in January and the last in July :)
Do you have any pics or videos? Planning this this winter.
