Greetings from Finland! What a great surprise from you to make a reaction video to my new favourite (symphonic) progressive metal band from Israel with stellar musicians and a vocal beast Noa Gruman, who: 1. makes her own stage outfits 2. composes the songs & writes the lyrics with the help of her friend Orr Didi, who just recently replaced the bassist that you see in this video 3. has served her two year military service with the Israeli armed forces 4. conducts the Hellscore choir that has performed internationally & with bands like e.g. Therion, Ayreon & Amorphis 5. is a classically trained pianist & cellist, although she doesn't play these instruments with Scardust 6. has also been working with the Israeli opera as 1st soprano 7. worked on her vocals with Floor Jansen (Nightwish) for two years P.S. They have signed with M-Theory Audio & all the music that they have released since 2015 including one EP & two studio albums "Sands of Time" & "Strangers" are just amazing masterpieces for anyone who's into (symphonic) progressive metal. P.S.S. You should also react to this Nightwish medley that Noa did with her Hellscore choir ruclips.net/video/LFvVahzlInY/видео.html
I just discovered Scardust and have been deep diving, hence RUclips has shown me this, I studied classical music in the 70s. And loved 20th Century techniques and loved Frank Zappa, not stoned lol, especially his classical pieces. So I hear a lot of stuff. I also played a lot of Big Band in my 20s. I now support Scardust and bought their music. I love the Oveture of Sands of Time and Overture for Strangers. All the motifs from all the songs are in the Overture. Snippets of what's to come if you play A to Z. Very cool. On the Strangers I so love Noa in her Operatic style with her Choir Hellscore. They build up so much depth all together. I consider both Albums to not be merely songs, but the whole album one piece. I mostly like what you said. I know, I'm late to the party. I personally support 3 bands now, all different genres. They are all special to me. Love and Respect. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. 🌹♥️🤘
This is currently my favorite band. Thanks for giving them some exposure. I listen to the albums back to back on the regular. Still can pick just one song to suggest. If you have time the 1st 5 song from sands of time as a single piece of music. If not maybe Concrete Cages. It’s not the most representative piece but it has given me an appreciation of the hurdy-gurdy and their ability to write for an interment.
One of my favorite bands. Here is some songs based on composure in my opinion. 6) Blades ( this one's more like a musical play/theatre) 5) Arrowhead 4) Mist / Break the Ice 3) Concrete Cages 2) The whole Sand of Time series pts1-5: Overture, Eyes of Agony, Dials, Hourglass, Sands of Time 1) If not #2, then Sands of Time pt3's - Dials !!! Ok so there is like 10 there, I hope you do Dials some day as the comment section has people saying masterfully composted and horribly composed.
22:30: The "loudness wars" started around the early 90s, though it really became standard around the 00s, so it's been going on for a long time. There are various theories about why it started. One theory is that it allowed labels to release "remastered" albums that essentially allowed them to make more money from old material. Another theory is that it made songs "stand out" when being heard on the radio, where "louder" songs would sound better and catch attention more than quieter songs. Yet another theory is that it was a reaction to the advent of portable music players like iPods where the amps were weak and needed music to be mastered louder to get them to acceptable volumes. I tend to lean towards the first possibility more than the others. Much easier for labels to make money by reissuing old music than by trying to make/sell new music.
First of all, I really like this band and did vote for the song. BUT, I "shouldn't" like it as much as I do.... There's power metal in it and that's rarely to my liking. There's symphonical metal that's usually a yawn for me. There's seemingly inspirations from e.g. Dream Theater and The Flower Kings - bands I do enjoy once in a while but get tired of rather quickly (some days they really do fit though). But it's the uncompromising and... daring versatility and inventiveness and that the pompousness or will to "show off" never (to my ears) overshadows the composition and playfulness. I also love the folk-elements and that the quire and solo-singing serves the song so beautifully. Bryan, rest assured that there's plenty more for you in their repertoar. Some growling might sneak in here and there but in a way a Jinjer-fan won't shy away from 😊
Hey there. I know this is a little bit off topic from the video here, but just gotta say... I would like to see you revisit Tool. I don't know who recommended Pneuma or why, but that's like a vibe song on what is basically a concept album. You said it didn't sound very prog, and I would have to say, even though I love the song, it's one of the least... Musically interesting? Songs in their catalogue. Maybe it's bias, but I feel like hopping straight into the fear inoculum album is like reading the epilogue to a book, and the album is good, but it's better with context- it's a refined, evolved sound from a band that started as basically an underground Numetal band. If you are going to go back to the fear inoculum album, I think (based on the stuff you seem to like in your other reactions) either Descending or 7empest would probably give you a better feel for what tool is, and show why they're considered prog. But i think it'd be better if you started with some of their older stuff- parabol/parabola, lateralus, wings for Marie pt 1 and 2, and disposition are all songs i think you'd enjoy. But if you're going to pick one more tool song to listen to, just make it Lateralus. Have a good day and thank you for the hours of entertainment my dude 👍
Thanks for the direction. Most have recommended that I check out their earlier stuff as I'll probably enjoy it more (based on my tastes) but I appreciate the recommendations for their newer stuff as well.
This was super impressive. I say "impressive" rather than other adjectives because despite how superb every section is in isolation I can't shake the feeling that this is mostly a lot of disparate ideas pasted together without much thought for coherency. Despite that criticism, I really should emphasize just how awesome pretty much every section is, and I dare say that it's a common problem for great prog bands to start with an overload of talent and ideas but not yet the experiences needed to write coherent songs. Opeth was particularly guilty of this on their earliest albums, and they ended up being one of best metal bands of the last 30 years. So really this "problem" is really a good sign for a potentially great band. Definitely going to check out more of these guys. Also, about 18:10 your video froze during analysis. I don't think too much was missed, but maybe something to keep an eye on.
It's different parts of the album, each part is taken from a song on the album. To me it's like listening to the whole album without the vocals on a speed run. If you liked the overture, you'll probably like the album.
@@tarmotyyri6733 I listen to operas fairly regular so I'm familiar with overtures, but you never know if rock/metal bands are using such classical terms in the same way!

check out their song Gone, I think you gonna love it
You should do Dual Existence by Enshine, or In Our Mind.
