Underrated show which has some pretty dark and interesting storytelling for its time considering it was the 1980s and this was part of the wave of animated shows meant to help sell toys. A lot of shows fell under the radar and didn't last past a season, but this show at least got 65 episodes. I mean here, it's a pretty interesting story. The Zone Riders think they are getting a new weapon to turn the tide in the war, but it's just a fake. But it was a fake for that Russian scientist to get revenge on Overlord. I think that's some clever writing, especially where the scientist was already ahead of the turncoat who was going to turn him over to Overlord. Not to mention that scene where the scientist and Max Jones reveal they both lost their families to the Zone. It's a pretty dark and serious moment you usually wouldn't see in these shows back in this time period. The Russian aspect of this show is also interesting to me, in that at the height of the Cold War, you had a show where American and Russian governments were working together and on the same team allied together for the greater good. I think that's interesting. And this show depicted Russian and American soldiers working together before the Cold War was actually declared that it was over.
Oh God!!🤦🏻♂️Please ppl pull urselves together. There’s nothing political about the show. It’s a cartoon meant to be entertaining. When you add political too it. It’s no longer entertaining. That will remind ppl how life sucks for them. Just enjoy the show. Also there’s no light or dark theme to it either.
