This is a town we've wanted to video for a long time but never seemed to be able to get there before it shut down on the weekend, which is around 3:00 pm. You'll see what we mean about three-quarters of the way thru the video...LOL! Thanks for watching! If you like our kind of content, we need your thumbs up and would really appreciate subscribing to our channel...its free and its a big way to help our channel grow!
I’ve lived in Madison or in the county for most of my life. I always love seeing Madison through visitors eyes. I love living here. We live in downtown Madison on Main St. I just love it! Thanks for sharing your adventure. I hope it inspires others to come visit us. Side note… I have booth space in the shop that had the Burger Chef sign. I bet I was working that day. I used to work there. LOL You should come check out the Ohio Theatre now. THey’ve been doing lots of restoration. THe old marque has been redone. Lights are all working and everything.
Hi, there! Great video! I've lived in and around Madison most of my life. Glad you enjoyed it here! 😊 A few things you might find interesting: the Fair Play Fire Station you pointed out was the first volunteer fire station in Indiana, and it's still active. The bridge was replaced because it was old and rickety, not because of a barge, but it was done by building the new bridge beside the old one then sliding it over to the original piers. It was an unusual way to do it. I think there's a RUclips video of the timelapsed slide. Also, the Ohio Theatre had a fire, and they've been restoring it. They hold special events and screenings there to raise money for the restoration (thus the lack of chairs at that time).
Next time check out Hinkles Hamburgers, and go up HW 7/Cragmont street, and see hanging rock. Clifty falls state park is incredible. There are too many things to list.
An actual doggie in the window! Madison, Indiana is such a lovely small town. We would love to check out the Madison Regatta sometime. That is a beautiful river waterfront. A bring-your-own-chair theater? LOL. I imagine they are maybe doing some remodeling or something and customers bringing their own chairs isn't their long term business plan. We love downtown areas of small towns like this. So many cool shops to explore. Thanks for taking us along!
Of course I love Madison, it was my stomping grounds when I was younger. When it was just regular shops thats where my mom and grandmother would shop for food and clothes and things, my dad worked at a taxi stand, driving a taxi cab. My grandfather, and uncle worked at a bakery. The old five and dime store was my favorite place to go as a child. I am glad they didnt let it just sit with boarded up windows, and empty stores like most towns do when business's move out because of larger retailers moving in. Hope you got a chance to eat at Hinkles...I no longer live around the area but try to get back home as often as I can and watch videos of Madison helps...
Always cool places you go to. Yes, this place was very very cool. I've been to Indian but missed this town sadly. I meant to mention, I noticed you guys visit Ohio. The only place in Ohio I have ever been to was a small town called Celina Ohio. Smack dab in the middle of Ohio. Once a year they have the biggest Amphicar show on Celina Grand Lake at the Annual The Celina Lake Festival that is really cool. It's usually the last week of July. Man I always wanted one of those cars you can take on a river or lake. On my lottery winning list to get me one. Anyways I just wanted to tell you about that show they have once a yr because it's something maybe to keep in mind for a future show. And the town of Celina is small but really old also in architecture & houses & mansions.
Madison is a great little town. We didn't realize that you had a motorcycle. Love to see the Regala, racing boat, competition. The view from the hotel is amazing. Cool bridge off in the distance. That's probably the one that was damaged and had to be replaced. Really cool downtown. The old movie theater is really cool. Love to see a movie there. That fountain is gorgeous. That store had a lot more than home decor. It was quite eclectic.
The guy you were talking to about the furniture being outside! Look up Gordon Ramsey hotel hell Robert. That guys name is Robert he was on the show when he owned a hotel in a different state!!
