Could seriously listen to John speak for days on end. The way he speaks about music, the inspirations and meanings is so thought provoking. Love him and love this band
I could listen to John talk for hours, seriously. I kinda got a bit emotional thinking how I've grown up with this band and idk, I've just realised that they're always gonna be part of me. They somehow made me who I am today and I'll always be thankful for that.
Dude, yes. Everything you just said was exactly how I feel hah. The Maine is absolutely amazing and I love how we could hear about John's thought process in writing the album in this interview.
John, if all less fails, you can be a philosophy/english/psychology teacher easily. Each record has certain steps in the fans life's as they have grown along side this band, truly amazing. cannot wait to hear what is up next from these rocking guys
24 Floors and American Candy are my most listened to atm because (in my opinion) they're the most like Forever Halloween and that album meant so much to me, it came at a time where I really needed that, and I've listened to it on loop a million times and it's actually when I started actively listening to The Maine, so seeing people shit on it in different social media forms is annoying as fuck. There really isn't a song on American Candy that sucks or that I want to skip though. It's just an overall good album. And when Miles Away was released I got really emotional. This album is kind of like the light at the end of the tunnel for me, if that makes sense?? Anyway, thanks for the music, it's helped me a bit.
I agree Forever Halloween is a great album, like yes it was dark but it was REAL, life isn't always cheery or full of joy. With American Candy I feel like it's time for a new change and more positive outlook on life, which I really needed. In my opinion both albums are incredible and the maine always continue to impress me, i love those guys.
Great interview! I feel like it must be hard to open up about certain things that were once going on in your life and I'm very glad John did! I remember how scared we all were because you could somehow feel that something wasn't right. Glad they're all doing good! Keep it up, love you guys!!
John, I love you... got all sorts of emotional when he talked about 24 Floors because I've definitely been there before and it sucks to ever feel that way
I know everyone's already said it, but really this interview is amazing. I love hearing about the songwriting process and how the album came to be. It shows how dedicated the band is to making good, meaningful music, and that's not something that can be said for a lot of musicians. Thank you for this :)
This is without a doubt the most interesting interview i've ever watched/listened to; but WHY on earth did you talk about every song of the new album, EXCEPT my favorite one : (Un)lost ?!! This is very frustrating ... Well, now i'm just going to listen to American Candy once more (probably the eight time for today xD)
***** After "Am I Pretty?," I was told that we were running short on time, so I cut to the title track (because, well, it's the title track) and the final track because it's so unlike the other songs. I think (Un)lost is great and planned to ask about it but we had no time. Sorry.
I really enjoyed this a lot! Definitely helps me understand why John wrote what he wrote or even why they decided to put certain songs on the CD. Really cool! Thanks for sharing :) Also John has such long legs...he kinda reminds me of a Tim Burton character haha
Amazing interview, as always The Maine knock it out of the park with another spectacular album, and I'm just sat here in awe of how talented one band can be. Only they could create a song about John's hair that is not only a catchy tune but quite an important commentary on society's idealisation of what an artist "should" look like. I couldn't have asked any more of my favourite band than this masterpiece, thank you.
I feel as though I'm growing up with these guys and as I was going through a dark time in my life in particular forever Halloween came out and now I do have a bit of positivity going for me they release this.
(Un)lost and 24 floors are my favorites on this album. They speak to me so loudly because of stuff I'm going through right now and I listen to them probably 10 times each at least every day. Love the entire album, it's perfect!
I always felt like "am I pretty?" was a critique on the standard of beauty and the need to fit in with social norms where as the music video was more like I'm beautiful in my own way and the song is like I'm just me deal with it.
Yeh a im sure he was bc he did say during a show in the American candy tour like 'I'm so grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to fall in love with myself'
If you actually liked and listened to his music and the meaning behind it you'd understand just fine. But alas, you're too shallow and can only comprehend that John is good looking. He is more than just a hot dude for you to type "make out with me!" at

i love him so much god bless his little heart he seems so wise and sensible unlike other vocalists and artists these days

I'm so proud of the maine... every day I woke up with a smile on my face because of them!! just thank you for everything! see you soon in Brazil....
I feel like the interviewer looks like an older version of John and he's just talking to himself in the future😳😂
livelovenick He kind of reminded me of Bill Nye!
holy shit you're right

sosokso It's the perfect example of progression. I adore both of these albums. They're pretty awesome dudes.
HAHAHA I laughed at the way he says so chill ¨That one´s not very personal to me¨ discussing Am I Pretty like, I KNOW
I´m pretty!
Great interview!

Who would dislike such a thing

This + the album playing in the background = perfection

Ed Masley Ok :) great interview though, thanks !

So in depth and so in love
This was the album that introduced me to the maine and I've never looked back.. Love them and especially John.. 🖤
Beautiful interview. Love John's charisma & the explanations of the songs!
Loved this interview. Going through song by song was so great and loved getting all the details and inspiration behind them.
I sure hope you can have another in depth interview for the new record #lovelylittlelonely
i'm digging this interview, and I'm really hoping for interviews like these with the other members of the band too!
Great interview but what about (un)lost?
I had to go back just to check and make sure I wasn't going crazy. That is one of my favorites on the album.
And Another Night on Mars :(

This interview was amazing and had great rapport with John
John is such a well spoken person, I hope to be like that one day.
I didn't think I could love john anymore but boy was I wrong
I feel as though I'm growing up with these guys and as I was going through a dark time in my life in particular forever Halloween came out and now I do have a bit of positivity going for me they release this.
this album is stupidly good. every album they have is great but this one feels special
This interview is just as long as the record
Please add Unlost and 24 Floors to the live setlist!! They're the best songs of the album
He was a way with words.
The Maine never fails to be amazing💙
This was awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this!
(Un)lost and 24 floors are my favorites on this album. They speak to me so loudly because of stuff I'm going through right now and I listen to them probably 10 times each at least every day. Love the entire album, it's perfect!
Ed Masley is great interviewer !
I love this interview, a lot. Thanks for this.
I love it
i love this interviewer & i love the way John's brain is haha :)
loved this interview!
Sarah Samuelsson love you sarah
Come to New Zealand please 😀😀😀
i wish I could have an existential conversation with him 😭😭
Hell yeah
I always felt like "am I pretty?" was a critique on the standard of beauty and the need to fit in with social norms where as the music video was more like I'm beautiful in my own way and the song is like I'm just me deal with it.
Am I the only one who loved 24 floors but was also concerned? like John must of been going through something to write it
Yeh a im sure he was bc he did say during a show in the American candy tour like 'I'm so grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to fall in love with myself'
Did he play 24 floors? Cause I saw them in MN and that's one song I wanted to hear but they didn't play it.
And this is what growing older looks like
I'm fucking hilarious
why don't you get to see the stars in the "valley" 9:00
Anyone else disappointed that he didn't have an English accent
Marry me
MAKE OUT WITH ME!!!!
Uh, I'm actually listening to this, and going, wtf is he really talking about...
If you actually liked and listened to his music and the meaning behind it you'd understand just fine. But alas, you're too shallow and can only comprehend that John is good looking. He is more than just a hot dude for you to type "make out with me!" at
I find this amusing in boredom.. if he wasn't hot, I would never get into this.
