I have been using the grafix craft plastic for a year or so. It even comes in a black version for use with neon colors and shimmery colors. Huge fan of this product. Thanks for posting 😁
I have used the craft plastic but my favorite is mineral paper, it's made out of rock! It's a bit thinner but is easy to die cut and can be heat embossed with no warping, plus it feels velvety.
Thank you for this tip. I use Kirkland photo paper. So much less expensive than Yupo. I see you were using Alcohol Blending Solution to remove the ink. If you use Isopropyl Alcohol it would probably clear it in one try. Plus it much less expensive than blending solution.
I've used Yupo and Nara and tend to fly through those because I'm relatively new to alcohol ink techniques. Just purchased mine through your link and can't wait to give it a try as an alternative means for practicing. Thank you for sharing!
I have to limit myself when I want to try new techniques or a color combo because yupo is so expensive and like you I would fly through them..... I could use 10 sheets in just an hour LOL. Now with the cheaper paper I won't be so hesitant. Thanks so much for watching and using my link... Happy crafting! If you have social media I would love to see what you create...
What a great video, thank you soooooo much! I have alcohol inks but have never used them after my first failures, this product will give me the confidence to experiment!
I found some Brea Reese rolls of paper for 6.99, I think it was 12x24, for $6.99 at Tuesday morning. On the label it says “compare to yupo”. *I haven’t tried it yet* but if you’re interested check out the vinyl roll buckets at your Tuesday morning-that’s where it’s hiding 🤗I also bought her ink which they had many many colors!
Thanks for sharing this video again. I watched it and yes, the craft plastic paper is much better. But I am also glad you showed we have to use a hairdryer instead! Big bonus too. For me, cause I am taking the Card Maker Summit in Feb. I cannot wait to see what you come up with. Thank you again it is always appreciated. We all want to make great crafts.
Hi I just subscribed and love this channel! What a great tip for saving money! I’m an alcohol ink virgin, have tons of it but was always intimidated, thanks for busting open my shell!

@@Tiffany.Solorio Sorry, Tiffany, not yet. I have been swamped with medical issues and just plain life. Thanks for asking though. I hope to get back to crafting soon.
I use Grafix as well. An Amazon reviewer recommended it for alcohol inks, which is how I initially heard about it. It's thinner than the Yupo paper, but work's great for far less money.
Nice comparison!!! side by side I still prefer the way alcohol inks move and look on Yupo paper but for a cheaper surface to practice on this is a GREAT alternative - Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much! I didn’t notice a difference. But I do it for fun. LOL! When I think of using it on a card or something the price of yupo just doesn’t make me excited to use my alcohol inks.
information in the video. I would be happy for clarification on deleting the ink from the sheet. You say you use rubbing alcohol, but in the video I see alcohol blending Solution which is a diffrent product. Which of the two I should use? And if you use rubbing alcohol - which %? (+ I just want to be sure it's not isopropyl alcohol)
Love Graphix Craft Plastic! I've been using and demoing with it for three or more years now. It is my favorite substrate for alcohol ink. It is definitely a lot less expensive and so great to work with. If you don't use high heat, you can basically heat this plastic all day and it won't warp. I did a heat comparison at one of the stamping shows I where I was demoing alcohol inks and added the same amount of lower heat (but still high enough for embossing) to a piece of Yupo along side a piece of the Graphix Craft Plastic on and off all day and by the end of the day the Graphix was still flat and the Yupo was warped into a ball.
Money, plain and simple. I’ve got all of my art supply money in alcohol inks (I just re-swatched my collection and I have 66 bottles, not including duplicates). I’ve been using the 18 cent tiles from Lowes and I rarely touch my yupo paper. I’m definitely excited to try the Graphix option!
As Yupo and others are far too expensive, I use flat plastic from the recycle-bin...and it' s really a cheek, that companies sell this piece of plastic at that priece !!!
@@asiyahussain5484 I found Craft Plastic in the UK, but when I checked about a year ago, it was about the same price as Yupo unfortunately, so I struggle to see the benefit in switching. Lots of people use (the reverse side of?) photo paper for very similar results to Yupo at a fraction of the price. I think Nina Ribena's channel did a comparison ages ago.
Hello Tiffany, I watched quite a few of your videos and now I have a question. It’s regarding the hair dryer, well it’s actually a curling combo. I recognize the one you use it’s the Conair. I used that myself first and I liked it because it didn’t blow very hard, but even on the cool setting it still blows warm, and I didn’t like that because it dried the alcohol too fast. Then I started using a different one, I saw many other people using it, the Revlon curling/brush combo. This is a little stronger (500 watts, the Conair is 300 watts) so it blows harder, not very much, but same as the Conair this one also blows warm air even on the cool setting. Maybe less than the Conair, but still warmer than room temperature, more than just warmish. I’m still using the Revlon, but don’t like the warm because it dries the alcohol too fast, especially I live in Florida,so here mostly it’s hot and humid, although of course I use the A/C. But no matter how much I looked I can’t find a better one. So, I wanted to ask you, how you deal with that? It doesn’t bother you that it’s warm air? The paper, yes I am using the Grafix Opaque now for a long time, but there is another very good paper, NARA, I like it even better. When it first came out on Amazon about 2 years ago it was very cheap, now it’s more expensive, but still cheaper than Yupo, and the ink lifts even better than on the Grafix. Tiffany I enjoy your videos, let me know how you deal with the dryer. Thank you 😊
Wow!! What a great find! I love that idea of never ending practice paper 😂😂 I think alcohol inks are SO gorgeous, but I haven’t bought or tried them yet because of the fumes, don’t have a great set up for dealing with that yet.
I've tried a few other mediums but I'm always disappointed with the colors that have kind of a "dual color" to them...like when the alcohol lightens them. (kind of hard to explain) So far Yupo is the only paper those work best on. But I HATE how expensive it is. It makes trying to practice on even a small piece so nerve-wracking. Do you know what im talking about with the colors that are kind of multi-dimensional, that work really well on Yupo? Do they work the same on this paper?
I have tried three times to download the pdf file on Ultimate Guide to Alcohol Ink and it NEVER downloads. Perhaps you have taken it off but kept the video and link up. Very frustrating. Otherwise, your videos are great and your comments about techniques and tools very helpful.
