Hey guys! This episode of GBNF was made from suggestions from fans who emailed us demanding this show be covered on this series. If you want to make suggestions for future episodes of GBNF then e-mail GBNFSeries@gmail.com and maybe we’ll cover your show!
Have you done 'Burn Notice' yet? It is one of my fav shows ever. If not may I suggest doing that one I'd love for you to. If you have I'll prob be watching it next 😉😁
The thing that blew my mind about Chuck is that they did 1 season of Will They or Won't They?... but then when the two of them got together, they STAYED TOGETHER in a very mutually supportive relationship. They writers didn't break them up or write their relationship as toxic it was just... really awesome. And we were all so happy for Chuck. Almost all hack writers on most shows would have gone back to relationship-drama, but Chuck moved on and it was wholesome.
Chuck is the reason why I will always support Zachary Levi's career! The show is so underrated! I feel like a proud parent with the way his career has taken off lately!
The different songs used in this show was awesome. I still listen to all those bands featured. Boniver’s Creature Fear used in Season 2 Episode 21 when Chuck and Sarah are in bed was such a powerful moment.
This series was so much fun but the thing that stood out the most was that it had an ending. A proper ending, one that made sense and it felt like we could walk away, leaving Chuck, Sarah, Casey, Morgan and, of course, Jeffster to go about their lives without being short changed. It was refreshing to see in an era of easy-come-easy-go series getting cancelled overnight.
While yes it has an ending, it's not the proper ending for the show. And in all honestly, Season 5 totally taints the near perfection of the series. Season 5 is so hard to get through for me, while S1-4 are easy to watch!
I was thrilled when I tracked down the last series on dvd, thus completing the set.We replay these b2b on long weekends every now and then on a projector. Getting actors from previous franchises was genius.I blinked and missed Mark Hamil until he spoke. The duplicity of alexi volkov was brilliant. (a good guy converted into a villain pretending to be a good guy) Best line in the series"I know kung fu"
This show had it all, the feels, the comedy, the action. Rarely at such equal levels. The lunatics of Jeffster man... they were stupid hilarious. Zachary is such a loving dude. I hope he isn't putting too much stress on himself to get more Chuck.
I love Chuck. I cried when Chuck and Sarah had those moments and laughed when chuck and Morgan had their moments. This series got me excited every Tuesday-Wednesday. Would love to see this come again.
loooved chuck so much, what a beloved series, i loved his relationship with sarah, and the bonding with casey and morgan's goofiness, jester.. hotta rewatch it someday.
I had heard about this show for a little while and then I found seasons 1 thru 4 for dirt cheap at a pawn shop and I figured "what the heck I'll give it a shot" and now its one of my favorites shows. Really hope they come back with another season or a movie.
I didn't watch Chuck until 2015, when i found it on Netflix I think. It quickly became my favorite show and I've binge watched it 5 times since then. I really loved a Levi cared and continues to care about the show.
Currently watching the show for the third time. I loved the show from the beginning and all the characters, but completely and utterly fell in love with Chuck and Sarah...I still get teary eyed when they want each other so badly but can't, Sarah's growing love for Chuck will always warm my heart...please, please make a movie, would love for them to eventually get the life they deserve ❤
I have to say this show has one of my favorite reveals ever, where one of the characters is ambushed in a really bad and obviously fake fight scene. Everybody seeing it initially complained about how badly staged that fight scene was. Then the next episode, Morgan looks at the fight film footage and figures out that the guy was the mole, because he's seen a lot of low budget kung-fu films, and that was a really bad fake stage fight, but Morgan saw through it, since he's seen a lot of bad kung-fu films. It's funny to see a bad fight scene become a plot point.
One of the first shows my wife and I watched together. I remember every year watching the list to see if we got another season. Was lucky enough to see some of the set
I remember coming home from school and dying to see the new episode airing on tv (i still have a tear-stained page of my diary of the day in which the sarah and poison episode aired, lmao). Best show ever. Nothing comes even close.
There are so many things going for the show and outside a new villain character being tossed into the last half of the last season with no connection to anything in the episodes before it, I really enjoyed both the good and bad guys. I never thought there would be a point when I would enjoy the Jeff and Lester scenes, but Buy More definitely became a fun part of the show.
I feel the show really started to go downhill when the writers decided that suddenly anyone could be the intersect, when for so long what made Chuck special is that only he could handle it without dying instantly. Especially in the last season when seemingly everyone became the intersect except for Chuck.
There was a little bit more to the Subway plan. In addition to buying the subs, we were filling out every customer survey we could access and listing Chuck as the reason for buying the subs. So Subway didn't just see a little uptick in sales, they saw that the sales were coming specifically from those fans.
I absolutely love Chuck.. the actors, the chemistry, the romantic and plutonic love among all the main characters, the comedy. The soundtrack has so many amazing songs that tug on the heartstrings with their perfect timing in the story. I still can’t watch anything with Brandon Routh in it without seeing Shaw and feeling a degree of animosity. Chuck is always in my regular rotation of rewatches.
I like watching Chuck because the relationships between the characters is believable, as are the characters themselves, for instance Ellie reminds me of my sister and Chuck reminds me of my brother. I've been told I'm like Casey.
With OC being sooo important in making geeks not be looked down upon as much (due to Seth), it makes sense that Chuck was successful and created by the same people
Let's take a moment and just marvel at all the girls that played love interest to Chuck although there's no way they could steal him from Sarah. Lou played by Rachel Bilson, Jill by Jordana Brewster and my favorite Hannah by Kristen Kruek
The best show I ever watched... We have two books about whole series and site on reddit alive to this day. I think this is sufficient recommendation for this series. Just amazing show and community.
I love watching Chuck and I've wished for YEARS that they would bring it back so that Chuck could make Sarah fall in love with him again. But until then I'll just keep watching it here on RUclips for the 6th time
I would definitely buy Chuck - The Movie and all sequels. One thing you forgot to mention was McG as producer. Anything that guy touches turns to pure gold!! He’s a living Midas! 😎
The only thing sad about Chuck is that Joshua Gomez (Morgan), who, in my opinion was the best actor after Zachary Levi (Chuck) (and it's a close call) didn't had his own TV show... As an amateur actor myself, I find his he talent mind blowing and I am always amazed with how he can portrait the character of Morgan with such perfection.
Still of my most beloved shows of all time. I actually just watched a bunch of episodes (season 1) for the first time in a while. Definitely feels like youtube is spying on me. Which is... topical, I guess.
I would have loved more Ellie content. Keeping her safe and blissfully unaware of what was going on was the main driver of the entire show, but she languished in the background instead of stepping into the limelight and using her medical skills more in the show.
As a fan of Chuck and similar shows, I can say my "lack of intimacy" with series nowadays is due to two things. First, binge culture has eliminated the weekly "Did you see Chuck last night?" watercooler conversations. Second, I've been burned so many times where someone in the know leaks (or guesses) spoilers for the show to the point that I avoid interacting about a show until I've completed it.
Seeing that last clip of them kissing on the beach reminded me of what happened in the end and why i hated the series finale... To think i've successfully forgotten until just now...
I was kinda obsessed with this show in my teenage years. Though I wouldn't watch it now because it no longer represents me; I no longer identify as a nerd because nerds are smart. Zachary Levi being in the colossal waste of time and effort that was Heroes Reborn may've soured my opinion of him a bit. The Prime Video app on my TV does lag every-so-often. And there are already too many shows on my watchlist
Last 3-4 seasons were pretty bad with a few bright spots. But I liked the characters so much, I pushed through. And had one of the few endings I didn't hate.
i genuinely love the series. i introduced it to my wife after watching the first season and we got hooked up till the end. it had everything, the action, comedy, tense. splendid writing. all but the final season which to be honest was a major letdown. it felt very rushed, the plot was anticlimatic and cliche. and i still cant digest that they made sarah lost her memories. it felt like they threw everything since season 1 down the drain. ending it at the fourth season would've been better. the last season finale doesnt give us any closure whatsoever. it opens to any possibility sure but i remember some fans were desperate for a closure that they edited a video to show that after the kiss, "miracles" happened. BUT if they really gonna do a movie, i'm gonna go line up at the theater. it's still is one of my favorite shows.
This was a great show. It lost a little bit when Chuck got the girl. The tension there was a big thing in the show for the first couple seasons. Once they got together it honestly got a little annoying how they played out that relationship. But it was a great concept and a cool show. I need to re-watch.
7:47 i don't know what season.. but if the actor was like 45 by that time then the character is old enough to have a 20 year old daughter. Internet shows plenty of men in their 40s or 50s looking young enough to be an older sibling to their kids
I absolutely love this show. The only thing that I am not a huge fan of is the s5 plot line with Morgan and the intersect. Morgan became borderline insufferable as a result during that arc. Morgan is meant to have just the bare threads of an ego, to the point where is comical, not cringe. He went full cringe with the ego at that point. Plus it really kind of felt like .... if Morgan has the intersect and is so great with it and Sarah still has all her training, why is Chuck even there? Glad it didn't last too long though.
I remember watching the show back then. Yvonne Strahovski Zachary Levi really made the show something special. And made The Geek Squad at Best Buy look cool
I loved how all the characters were actually likeable (except for the ones we were supposed to hate). But Captain Awesome could've been really annoying, but he was just so genuine and charming that you couldn't hate him.
I think even the villains were enjoyable, if not likeable. Only the last guy truly annoyed me because he seemed to be randomly inserted instead of it being a someone inside the world already created.
@@vapoetI really liked the actor who played alexei volkoff. the only character i really hated in the show was jill. on a personal level... Edit: It's not like she is a bad actor, it's just that i can't stand manipulative people and she's a little TOO good at playing the part :/
@@sandercohen5543 I liked almost all the characters, too but couldn't stand the assistant manager in S2. Harry Tang as assistant manager was so terrible but I loved him. Idk why. But Millhouse or whatever his name was just rubbed me the wrong way. I was most impressed with Shaw because it really showed Brandon Routh's range away from Superman and his raw screen presence.
Josh Swartz first series The O.C was known for it's great music. It even had 6 compilations on CD with music from the different seasons of the show. So the tradition simply continued on Chuck. I wasn't surprised at all with how good the music choices were.
@@LiesThatBind I forgot her name, but I remember seeing that it was a lady he carried over from the O.C.'s production, who was responsible for most of the music choices in both shows.
Right on! I literally have a Chuck playlist on my Spotify. My biggest discovery was Kettering by The Antlers. This tune pushed my perception of grief and sorrow past what it had initially been. Powerful stuff.
Chuck is my ultimate comfort show. I still get back to it from time to time and it never fails to make me laugh even though I've seen the jokes a hundred times. The soundtrack also singlehandedly cemented the most of my taste in music. I don't remember being this much affected by a show in my life.
I liked your comment on the music of Chuck. Someone very gifted did a great job with the music selections. Most tv shows don't even try to match popular music with the mood of a scene. Usually that's left to certain movies.
I LOVE "CHUCK" to this very day. I can't believe it's been off the air as long as it has. I wish the movie Zachary Levi has talked about making would get made. NOT a reboot, but a continuation of the original. All of the cast has expressed interest in reprising their roles.
@@jediknightjairinaiki560 i know. i mainly cried at the end since it was over.. i loved all the actors so much and their roles were perfect, i like casey and morgan alot. also jeff and lester were good i wish it was still going and for 2010’s it was a awesome show
@@2fakePD I have the Nerd Herd logo on my phone's main screen. The other day a window rep was at my house, going over windows I'm having installed, saw my phone and asked, "Is that from "Chuck"? I was blown away.
I went back and re-watched it a few years ago but I had somehow mentally blocked out the ending even though I had previously watched it through multiple times. It's like my brain was protecting me ... I almost feel like I should have left well enough alone. Lol. I was genuinely distraught on the last viewing and now I can't forget the ending. I get what they were going for but God do I *hate* that ending. It's just so sad and tragic.
I absolutely love the earlier seasons, but I think they kinda jumped the shark in the later ones, what with the entire plotline concerning Chuck's mother, Morgan getting the intersect, amnesia,...
I liked the ending because they took a risk, it would've been much better imo if it was shaw manipulating sharah at the end, not fat Robert de bruce. His character came out of nowhere. I will always love this show especially first 3 seasons
I like that we got an ending first of all. Second, I liked how the last episode changed the entire series from being about a nerd becoming a super spy into an adventurous love story. Yvonne, Zachary, and Adam really hit it out of the park! 😃
Chuck really was one of the most entertaining shows I've ever watched. So glad the fans rallied to give it a proper ending. I do revisit it once in awhile and it never gets old.
I loved chuck with a passion. I could even get to season 5 episode 8. But afterwards it broke my heart. If people are aware of the ending it's Just crushing for the people that have seen the trials and tribulations of the characters
@@bobvalley2221 Yeah it was for me like being rewarded with a kick in the family jewels. And I supported the campaigns to bring it back from the edge of cancellation. Ending for me Hurt. One of the few shows I was engaged with. Another one was the 90s classic Babylon 5
@@ComedyBros5 Including Season 5? I personally rewatched the show a lot of times skipping season 5 because I think it is by far the weakest and the ending of season 4 was a really good ending.
Same here. But I don't watch the last 3 episodes anymore. That ending was fkng cruel. A total kick in the nuts to the fans that carried the show for 5 years. To destroy the entire history they had that we all shared was stunningly out of character for a show that was so amazing in every other respect.
Loved Chuck. One of my favorite scenes is when Casey is complaining about his skimpy swimsuit and sarah brings up how many skimpy outfits she's had to wear over the years and basically tells him to suck it up. Not a fan of how it ended though. I can understand how they came to want to do it that way, but it still makes me a little sad, which is not how I think about that show. It was my happy show.
Rebinged the whole series a couple years ago. STILL love it. And for the casting - don't forget Chuck's parents were both played by legends Scott Bakula and Linda Hamilton... no wonder he was the perfect sci-fi-esque agent
Big fan of this show, and it is was great seeing Zachary Levi going from this to Shazam. I appreciated how characters in these show actually developed as the show went on, and Matt Bomer appearances are always welcomed
I've had a big crush on Yvonne Strahovski for her portrayal of Sarah. Smart, badass, funny and absolutely beautiful. And I think that Chuck has had a big influence on Nerd and Geek culture. The video game Mass Effect 2 had a new character named Miranda, whose face and voice was modeled after Yvonne and spoken by her. I believe that her stellar performance earned her that spot and she became a new fan favorite from that point on.
Sarah may literally be the most overall attractive (in all senses of the word) character in the history of television. I get that she was written by a straight dude to appeal to a straight dude's fantasy, but...mission accomplished, my man. And Yvonne played the hell out of that character too.
Hell yes. I wish the MCU had picked her up for Captain Marvel. It's shocking to me that an actress of her talent doesn't land more lead roles. I find her highly watchable.
@@buddysally886haha I wanted dexter to have a happy ending with Hannah. Them just leaving Miami to live a normal family life or leave together while still be hunted but atleast know they are together.
@@ComedyBros5comes down to her Agent & also the roles she likes to play. Recently I feel she has chosen to be a mother than an actress. Sure she still acts but she hasn’t been in that many shows/movies recently. Her prime or her time was 2005-2016 I feel that’s when I’d see her everywhere. 🤷🏻♂️
I'd never seen the show until I found it on HBOmax last year. I remember when it was on, but I just never watched it. Never dreamed when I started watching it that I'd be rewatching it a year later and it would be one of my favorite shows.
This show is everything that I need for TV series, all the spy stuff and romcom in each eposide with great writing, and the on screen chemistry between Zachary and Yvonne are unbelievably good. I'm so thankful I'm those people who know this show existed

It's funny I started rewatching the show around the time this video came out!

the last 3-4 episodes almost ruined the series for me.. sometimes when i re-watch i skip those because it's just so sad
it was alittle on and off for the first few seasons, mostly on and nothing to toxic which is amazing, all good vibes.
It was like 3 season but yeah I agree.
Yeah but in the end they ended their relationship with a bullshit memory loss. To me it's the worst end to any series I have seen
Chuck is the reason why I will always support Zachary Levi's career! The show is so underrated! I feel like a proud parent with the way his career has taken off lately!
For real
He was the reason, i watched disney's tangled and it's tv series set after the movie cus he voiced flynn ryder also he is great as SHAZAM
One of the best series ever.
The casting for this series was spot on
Top tier
The show also had great guest stars.
I absolutely adored this show, me and my dad watched every episode together, one of my favorite TV shows
So glad you covered Chuck. This is one of the most underrated shows of recent past. Huge fan of Zach Levy and Yvonne remains my first TV crush!
This show also had the great theme song .... Cake's "short skirt, long jacket". TV shows don't have great theme songs anymore.
The different songs used in this show was awesome. I still listen to all those bands featured. Boniver’s Creature Fear used in Season 2 Episode 21 when Chuck and Sarah are in bed was such a powerful moment.
Still the best Spy series till date in my opinion. It has everything, even the supporting casts was outstanding

I absolutely loathed the ending. ALL that work building the relationship just to lose their history.
It had the worst ending ever.
@@iAmAzwellI agree. By having Sarah lose her memory, the show erased all of her character development. That basically killed off the character.

7:47 i don't know what season.. but if the actor was like 45 by that time then the character is old enough to have a 20 year old daughter. Internet shows plenty of men in their 40s or 50s looking young enough to be an older sibling to their kids
Surprised no mention of McG or the 3D episode.
Beat show ever. Hands down.
Firefly!!!! We want Firefly back!!!!!!
I remember watching the show back then. Yvonne Strahovski Zachary Levi really made the show something special. And made The Geek Squad at Best Buy look cool
Lol don't forget Morgan. I loved watching this every week and they always had a new hot chick each week it seemed like lol.
An the ineffable Baldwin. He's always amazing.
She has such an amazing smile
Sarah 😍
Literally. I remember being younger thinking how cool the geek squad was because of chuck haha
@@vapoet indeed. Shaw or Rourk should've been the last villain.
@@vapoetI really liked the actor who played alexei volkoff.
the only character i really hated in the show was jill. on a personal level...
Edit: It's not like she is a bad actor, it's just that i can't stand manipulative people and she's a little TOO good at playing the part :/
@@sandercohen5543Timothy Dalton is an amazing actor. He had a stint as James Bond.
The music choices for this show were absolutely amazing. Looking back now they had so many great songs you've never heard of.
Josh Swartz first series The O.C was known for it's great music. It even had 6 compilations on CD with music from the different seasons of the show. So the tradition simply continued on Chuck. I wasn't surprised at all with how good the music choices were.
@@LiesThatBind
I forgot her name, but I remember seeing that it was a lady he carried over from the O.C.'s production, who was responsible for most of the music choices in both shows.
Dude one of the best soundtracks for any show period.
+1 for the music in the show
I LOVE "CHUCK" to this very day. I can't believe it's been off the air as long as it has. I wish the movie Zachary Levi has talked about making would get made. NOT a reboot, but a continuation of the original. All of the cast has expressed interest in reprising their roles.
i know.. i was so sad when it ended i cried
@@2fakePD Yep. There were plenty of times throughout the serious I cried. Chief among them is when Chuck asked Sarah if she loved him.
@@jediknightjairinaiki560 i know. i mainly cried at the end since it was over.. i loved all the actors so much and their roles were perfect, i like casey and morgan alot. also jeff and lester were good
i wish it was still going and for 2010’s it was a awesome show
it also feels good to know other people else watched it since its not all that popular (more popular now)
@@2fakePD I have the Nerd Herd logo on my phone's main screen. The other day a window rep was at my house, going over windows I'm having installed, saw my phone and asked, "Is that from "Chuck"? I was blown away.
Chuck is one of those shows that instantly gives me warm feelings whenever I think of it. It was a form of therapy I didn't know I needed.
I just miss early 2010s!
I have nothing but love for chuck. Not sure I am the biggest fan of the ending, but it has a place in my heart.
@@michaelahurt *spoiler* that’s what I thought but after watching a second time I think they fell in love all over again.
My Wife and I are currently in season 2 on a rewatch
I met Adam Baldwin the day after Chuck ended. Really nice guy!
I loved chuck with a passion.
I could even get to season 5 episode 8.
But afterwards it broke my heart.
If people are aware of the ending it's Just crushing for the people that have seen the trials and tribulations of the characters
Glad I'm not the only one that was crushed with the way it ended.
@@bobvalley2221
Yeah it was for me like being rewarded with a kick in the family jewels.
And I supported the campaigns to bring it back from the edge of cancellation.
Ending for me Hurt.
One of the few shows I was engaged with.
Another one was the 90s classic Babylon 5
I gotta say, I have a lot of fond memories watching this show
Chuck is one of the best shows ever made, gonna have to do a rewatch now
Im going to do a watch it for the first time, seems like an awesome show.
I've personally followed Zach since Chuck, and I feel no shame in admitting that I've watched the show like 4 or 5 times.
I might have seen it 15-16 times. That's more than the times I've seen Endgame in theatres.
Just 4 or 5 times? It's an annual rewatch one for me. It and Justified are two of the best shows ever!
@@ComedyBros5 Including Season 5? I personally rewatched the show a lot of times skipping season 5 because I think it is by far the weakest and the ending of season 4 was a really good ending.
@@KiHToG Oh no, I never never bother with S5. Real fans know that it's not canon and isn't to be bothered with!
Perfect comment. Spot on for each point.
Rebinged the whole series a couple years ago. STILL love it. And for the casting - don't forget Chuck's parents were both played by legends Scott Bakula and Linda Hamilton... no wonder he was the perfect sci-fi-esque agent
Great point.
Sam Beckett and Sarah Connor were Chucks parents so its unsurprising he and elle became awesome.
Big fan of this show, and it is was great seeing Zachary Levi going from this to Shazam. I appreciated how characters in these show actually developed as the show went on, and Matt Bomer appearances are always welcomed
Ugh... I hated Bryce. Every time that creepy dick showed up I wanted to tune out.
Matt Bomer's performance as Bryce Larkin will always be one of the coolest characters ever to me.
I still rewatch Chuck every year. It's such a special show.
Same, loved her as Hannah as well
This show will always have a special place in my heart!
I'd never seen the show until I found it on HBOmax last year. I remember when it was on, but I just never watched it. Never dreamed when I started watching it that I'd be rewatching it a year later and it would be one of my favorite shows.
I think Jeffster's cover of Mr Roboto was the most hauntingly beautiful performances I've seen on Tv
This show is everything that I need for TV series, all the spy stuff and romcom in each eposide with great writing, and the on screen chemistry between Zachary and Yvonne are unbelievably good. I'm so thankful I'm those people who know this show existed
Great to hear Zach Levi hasn't given up. WE WANT MORE CHUCK!
I loved this show back in the day, Zachary Levi was perfect as the lovable geeky superspy, long before he was Shazam, a childish Superhero!
