And god knows there is the old "the captain fights hand to hand against the leader of the enemy even though he could have just shot him and sacrifices himself for the cause. Or the captain stays behind to sacrifice himself for the cause as the ship explodes. All of that and how many more times will you hear the writer say that the rail guns tore through the ship like paper. This worked at first but seeing the repetitive uncreative nature of it has lost me.
