Storm Chase Rattles UK | Lightning & Thunderstorms 2023 Begins!

- Its took a while but storms have started to wake up and rattle across the UK from the midlands to Yorkshire seeing some of the best activity.
In this video I try to intercept a storm developing out of Chorley heading due North across the Fylde coast. Did it produce any lighting?
One great feature of this storm was a rolling front line as the system glides across the M55 towards Kirkham bringing strong winds and a lot of rain... even the sheep were displeased!

We had a good storm on Tuesday at my workplace in North East Leicestershire. Complete with a short lived funnel

You missed a good funnel out North Yorkshire today. Road between sledgemere house and saxtons hill.
Two funnels proceeded one after another lasting five mins each...

Went for a walk near me in the Midlands yest and sat on a log waiting for the storm to hit. Unfortunately it only managed one quiet rumble of thunder. I hope we will get some good storms this year they make me feel so alive.🤘🙏👍
I was in Southampton for few days for my cousins wedding and it the rain came down so hard. Didn’t have any thunder but it was so miserable.
Sadly in Northwich/knutsford no lightning just 2 strong rumbles

We had some Rumbles around Stalybridge yesterday (Friday) but it didn't develop unfortunately. I'm looking forward to our first decent storm!

Was some Promising storms kicking off in the Scottish Borders the other day moving North but unfortunately lost its Energy to Heavy Rain and Misty conditions
Did you do a video from today. I was checking the radar and it looked like up near you and Liverpool got some good thunderstorms. Me and my lad went on a little chase upto rivington pike there were some really dark clouds but just got a bit of rain. There were some huge nimbus clouds over the back of rivington though towards Rochdale way. They were heading towards us in Wigan but they may have broken up by then I think 👍

Cool little shear funnels! You mentioned the storms produce those funnels as it goes over the hill. Is the updraft ingesting shear caused by differences in ground friction?
Shame it did produce much in the way of lightning, but like you said, worth the effort of chasing just for structure, the beginning of May is still early doors, so lots more chances to come .. great vid as always
