There's many ways to discipline a child into becoming a man that doesn't make dumb choices like King little spoiled ass. Money plus zero discipline equals King Harris going to prison. There was someone who could have stopped it but him.... They are called parents. They do parenting. They figure out ways to groom and mold their children into having good morals and values. They teach them the right actions and wrong actions to make. They put religion on them for more values. Parents can do many things to stop a child from becoming what this piece of shit has become.

If your parents can afford to keep you out of those streets and try to steer you in the right path... Take heed before it's too late. I don't think King is built for prison!!!. After you have done all you have done as a parent. It is up to that child to get their life together. I have heard that saying too but it seems to have skipped my mom and brother. You seem to have several generations of experience, so I would like to know what you think of my mom, my brother and my dynamic with my mom. See below.
My mom is in her late 70s and is in serious denial about my brother. He is in his 40s, always lived with her, quit college, quit his job 15 years ago with no money saved and has not worked since then....................YES, UNEMPLOYED FOR 15 YEARS. Also, he gets a major attitude if him getting a job is even brought up by me, my mom or my sister.
Now this is what I really get pissed about. She has been buying all of his toiletries and food for 15 years, getting his car fixed when it breaks down (yet, he doesn't work, so no point to doing this.) and has bought him new tvs when they go out. She has also taken up for him when he's been physically aggressive with me and my sister when he gets angry about the smallest things. Also, the things she's given me and my sister shit about arre the same things that she lets our brother slide with, not saying anything to him. For instance, he takes 2 or 3 long showers everyday and she ignores it. But when me and my sister used to visit, she would rage on about us taking too long to wash our hands. Like really.......washing our hands caused her to fuss but long showers everyday by her son, who never contributed to a water bill or any bill, at that, is ignored. I have to admit that I was kind of scared to see what his reaction would be to this. I remember him taking up for him a while back when King got into it with a worker at a Waffle House. But I am pleased with his response to this recent incident. He is doing what my mom should have done 20+ years ago. Now, because she has gone so hard to enable and take up for him, my 40 year old brother is the poster child for stagnation. He always lived with her, quit college, quit his job 15 years ago, with no money saved, has not worked since then.......YES 15 YEARS UNEMPLOYED......, gets an attitude if him getting a job is mentioned and has no friends.
My mom acts like this is normal and goes out of her way to hide his status from family and friends. She lies and tells them that he works a temp job and even tells him to be quiet during the day, if she gets a call from someone, so that they don't notice that he's home. It's really ridiculous. I have called her out for being an enabler and she went off on me, as if I was the child just sitting at home using her. So me and my sister distanced ourselves because it was obvious that her favoritism for him was not going to stop and we were tired of the arguments and trying to "prove" our worth to her.

My mother taught me all the values of being a man as well as being respectful. I chose to go against my parents advise and the results was prison for my silly ass. In any event no one could hold my parent accountable for my childish minded decisions. We blame parents as if they didn't raise their children correctly once a child makes a bad decision. Sometimes it's the way society perpetuated Good and Bad through marketing,, the exchange of worldly goods that most of us take for granted. Greed, so called success and so forth becomes the realest reasons why chasing the bag became prison/death for many of us. God Bless us All!!!!!

What about when the parent is clearly an enabler of one, who ends up totally handicapped of knowing how to make it on his own? Also, what about when that enabling of one child distances the 2 other kids because they can clearly see that the favoritism is thick as hell for that enabled child?
Oh, and I can't forget how she goes out of her way to hide his status from family and friends. She will tell him to not say anything if anyone calls her during the day because she doesn't want people asking why he's not at work. She has also lied to people, telling them that he works temps jobs, if they ask what he's up to.
I've told her that she's an enabler and she cussed me out and told me to get out of her face. My parents were divorced but when I'd talk to my dad, he'd always suggest job openings he came across for my brother and ask me to tell him about them. My brother and dad did not talk (long story), so I would just give him the messages. When my mom found out that my dad was concerned about him not working, she went off on me and told me that it was none of our business. My dad passed a few years ago but she still gets angry when I bring up how concerned my dad was. This is just a snapshot of our family dynamic. There's so much more but it would be about 50 more paragraphs. Anyway, I have deep resentment and hatred towards my mom because of her treatment towards me and my sister vs my brother. I've attempted to talk to her but she gets very defensive and angry about anything concerning her behavior, no matter how positively I come at her. We really need a mediator but she would NEVER agree with that. She is from the school of she's always right and should not be challenged, even if evidence proves her wrong. Me and my sister rarely call or visit her anymore because we figured that she is all about her golden child, our brother, so let them live in dysfunction. I would really like your, or anyone's assessment of this matter.

"Time is going to be his teacher.". Spoken by a wise man that understands that attaching ones emotional wellbeing and happiness to the actions of others, is destined to leave you a broken emotional mess. When a person's happiness is contingent on what another person says, does, and thinks, they live at the mercy of fools. All anyone can do, including a legendary hip hop star, is do their best. After that all you can do is accept the outcome as God's plan. We plan the plan, God handles the results. To resist the reality of consequences experienced by another human beings actions, is to suffer needlessly. God's got it.

My mom is the enabler of the century towards my 40 year old brother, as far as I'm concerned. When reflecting, it led to me see just how much favoritism she has had for him, since we were kids. It's a long story, as most humans' situations are, but here's a snapshot below. I'd like to get your assessment of it.

Amen. Been there. As a parent all we can do is instill morals and values but it’s up to them to follow them and walk accordingly. All we can do as parents is keep them in prayer..

Well said Tip. Young adults have to live, learn, and deal with their own consequences. You raised him right, now he has to choose to do the right thing and live by the principles and morals you guys taught him. Let go and Let God.

T.I. I'm so sorry that you have to go through with what you're going through. I haven't followed your private life, but can't nothing tear at you like when a child, your child, goes astray. It's good that you have others in your life to help you deal with this. Praying for you.
