Long story short, we do not want her exposed to blood from our national blood bank which supplies the hospitals (in the event she needs a blood transfusion during surgery) due to the presence of a certain substance now known to cause blood clots and heart problems that has tainted the national blood supply. But despite my husband being a type match, we've had our request for directed blood donation denied. So we've had to explore other options, which has caused the delay. 💗 With Hashem's help, hopefully it will be soon and all will be well. 😊

Hi em-agan. I get my calendar from the local Chabad, they usually do one for our city every year. So you could, if you have Chabad around you, ask them if they have a calendar with halachic times. I'm sure they'd be happy to give you one if they have for a small donation. If that isn't an option for you, alternatively you can go to this website, Hebcal www.hebcal.com put in your location, (necessary for accurate times) and then you can customize a calendar to include all the info you want. It can then be downloaded, printed, synced to a digital calendar app, etc. It's not beautiful or aesthetic, but it certainly is practical! Hope this helps you!

This video was particularly helpful: instructional without being didactic. Your spirit of humility and love shines through. Yes, human sacrifice is an absolute abomination. What started me on my road to conversion was that G-d had given such specific directions to the Jews about what to eat and what to wear and when to enjoy marital relations, but He couldn't be bothered to mention that He was part of a trinity?!? The learning curve is, indeed, steep but oh, so very sweet. ❤

My fiance is Ashkenazi and wears white or light colors on Yom Kippur- I wear white on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, as I am Edot HaMizrach through heritage but engaged to an Ashkenazi Jew. It's a nice compromise. 😊

G-d sent his son to die for our sins because sin has a price. The sacrifices of the temple teach us that. (The meat fed the priests but were other wise a lesson that a messiah would have to come) Jesus was that sacrifice and was no mere child… going voluntarily to die and pay for sin. If you fail to see that sin requires a blood atonement then you fail to realize the lesson of the Passover or all of the sacrifices of the past in the tabernacle and temple.
It's notable that you call the Christian God schizophrenic because he changed his mind about sacrifice and offered up his son for the sins of humanity, while lamenting on the story of Abraham and Isaac and the almost-sacrifice. So, God found human sacrifice repulsive, ordered Abraham to do the very thing He found repulsive, and then last minute, changed his mind. Is that not also... schizophrenic?

Hi Angela, great question. Like you, I never understood the story until I learned it with commentary from Jewish sources. I'll do my best to share what I learned with you here, although I certainly am not an expert. 😊 First of all, I don't believe that G-d did change His mind about the suitability/acceptability of human sacrifice, Christian claims notwithstanding. And far be it from me to lament about the Akedah, my apologies if I came across that way. You've used the word, "ordered" in your comment, which is not really our understanding of the way G-d spoke to Abraham. In Hebrew the text is peculiar, and is interpreted more like G-d saying, "Take now, I pray thee, your son..." G-d spoke to Abraham as a "friend to friend." Furthermore, when G-d spoke, He didn't use the word which would signify the slaying of the sacrifice. Abraham was asked to "offer him/lift him up (upon the alter). From the outset, therefore, there was no intention to accept a human sacrifice. THE BINDING OF ISAAC (AKEDAH) from Notes on Genesis, (pg 201) of my Hebrew/English Chumash. This chapter is of great importance both in the life of Abraham and in the life of Israel. The aged Patriarch, who had longed for a rightful heir ('Oh, Lord G-d, what wilt Thou give me, seeing I go hence childless?'), and had had his longing fulfilled in the birth of Isaac, is now bidden offer up this child as a burnt offering unto the Lord. The purpose was to apply a supreme test to Abraham's faith, thus strengthening his faith by the heroic exercise of it. The proofs of a man's love of G-d are his willingness to serve Him with all his heart, all his soul, and all his might; as well as his readiness to sacrifice unto Him that which is even dearer than life. It was a test safe only in a Divine hand, capable of intervening as He did intervene, and as it was His purpose from the first to intervene, as soon as the spiritual end of the trial was accomplished; Abraham proving his complete and unconditional surrender to the will of G-d. This is the positive lesson of the Akedah. The story of the trial of Abraham also brings a great negative teaching. The story of the Binding of Isaac opens the age-long warfare of Israel against the abominations of child-sacrifice, which was rife among the Semitic peoples, as well as their Egyptian and Aryan neighbours. In that age, it was astounding that Abraham's G-d should have interposed to prevent the sacrifice, not that He should have asked for it. A primary purpose of this command, therefore, was to demonstrate to Abraham and his descendants after him that G-d abhorred human sacrifice with an infinite abhorrence. Unlike the cruel heathen deities, it was the spiritual surrender alone that G-d required. Moses warns his people not to serve G-d in the manner of the surrounding nations. 'For every abomination to the Lord, which He hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.' Deut 12:31 All the Prophets alike shudder at this hideous aberration of man's sense of worship, and they do not rest until all Israel shares their horror of this savage custom. In Jeremiah 19:4-6, G-d tells us that human sacrifice is so horrible a concept to Him, that it did not even come into His mind to demand it from His creation, ‘They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind.’ We see the same thing in Psalm 106:37-38, and in Ezekiel 16:20. This teaches that G-d would not accept Jesus’ death on the cross as a blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. The very idea of that G-d would accept a human sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins is unbiblical. It's like adding a crime (murder) to an abomination (human sacrifice) and claiming it was an acceptable sacrifice. In my opinion, there is a fundamental misunderstanding of sacrifice/atonement/forgiveness of sin in Christian circles, and I say this since I was a Christian once. You misunderstood the story. Jesus was born to bring Christianity to the world. So the Jews were afraid that he was going to take over their world so they went to the Romans to lay down their case and they condemned Jesus to death. The Romans carried out the sentence.

I won't pretend to understand G-d's ways, all the why's of why history has played out the way it has. But Christianity is idolatry, has been and always will be, minor details of the story (true or not) won't change that.

I understand because I was once there brainwashed but now that I know as much as I do about all the lies, I can’t stomach the thought of what the church is doing to these poor people. If they only knew how the church manipulated the scriptures they’d be sick. I remember the one thing that completely disgusted me was how they took a psalm that said “sacrifices and offerings you did not desire, but my ears you opened for me.” And the church changed it to “but a body you prepared for me.” I was furious and in such shock. I couldn’t believe they would change G-D’S words. I brought it up to my old pastor and it didn’t phase him. I was outraged. Like what does phase him? Happy for you that you have gotten closer to G-d! My dad is a "born again Christian." He sees everything in Jesus tinted glasses. On many occasions he has said to me, "Why do Jews reject Jesus?" (Trinity, messiah being G-d, messiah dying for sins, etc) It’s such a shame. It goes all the way back to Josephus. Many Christian’s use his sources to justify Christianity which is funny because they don’t read into his documentary. He was a practicing Jew the remainder of his life! What started me on my road to conversion was that G-d had given such specific directions to the Jews about what to eat and what to wear and when to enjoy marital relations, but He couldn't be bothered to mention that He was part of a trinity?!?

I busted up laughing at your reaction to the messianic Jew. I find myself having the same reaction as well every time I see those type of videos, haha. Your facial expression nailed it. 😆 It also reminds me of my reaction to my dad, who is a christian, who gets so mad and confused over Catholics when they idolize Mary. Every time I tell him, "How you feel about that, is how us Jews feel about Christians idolizing Jesus." He never sees the correlation. I never could buy the Christian belief system- it just never made sense to me why I should need a person to "atone" for my sins, when I can turn directly to G-d myself. Debating with Christians though is so frustrating- they see the world through Jesus-tinted-glasses. Any point made that they can't refute, they just dismiss.

G-d sent his son to die for our sins because sin has a price.
The sacrifices of the temple teach us that. (The meat fed the priests but were other wise a lesson that a messiah would have to come)
Jesus was that sacrifice and was no mere child… going voluntarily to die and pay for sin.
If you fail to see that sin requires a blood atonement then you fail to realize the lesson of the Passover or all of the sacrifices of the past in the tabernacle and temple.
It's notable that you call the Christian God schizophrenic because he changed his mind about sacrifice and offered up his son for the sins of humanity, while lamenting on the story of Abraham and Isaac and the almost-sacrifice. So, God found human sacrifice repulsive, ordered Abraham to do the very thing He found repulsive, and then last minute, changed his mind. Is that not also... schizophrenic?
That aside, this was a really intriguing watch and I learned a lot, especially about the calendar! It's awe inspiring to see how much your faith is woven into the very fabric of your day.

Hi Angela, great question. Like you, I never understood the story until I learned it with commentary from Jewish sources. I'll do my best to share what I learned with you here, although I certainly am not an expert. 😊
First of all, I don't believe that G-d did change His mind about the suitability/acceptability of human sacrifice, Christian claims notwithstanding. And far be it from me to lament about the Akedah, my apologies if I came across that way.
You've used the word, "ordered" in your comment, which is not really our understanding of the way G-d spoke to Abraham. In Hebrew the text is peculiar, and is interpreted more like G-d saying, "Take now, I pray thee, your son..." G-d spoke to Abraham as a "friend to friend."
Furthermore, when G-d spoke, He didn't use the word which would signify the slaying of the sacrifice. Abraham was asked to "offer him/lift him up (upon the alter). From the outset, therefore, there was no intention to accept a human sacrifice.
THE BINDING OF ISAAC (AKEDAH) from Notes on Genesis, (pg 201) of my Hebrew/English Chumash.
This chapter is of great importance both in the life of Abraham and in the life of Israel. The aged Patriarch, who had longed for a rightful heir ('Oh, Lord G-d, what wilt Thou give me, seeing I go hence childless?'), and had had his longing fulfilled in the birth of Isaac, is now bidden offer up this child as a burnt offering unto the Lord.
The purpose was to apply a supreme test to Abraham's faith, thus strengthening his faith by the heroic exercise of it. The proofs of a man's love of G-d are his willingness to serve Him with all his heart, all his soul, and all his might; as well as his readiness to sacrifice unto Him that which is even dearer than life.
It was a test safe only in a Divine hand, capable of intervening as He did intervene, and as it was His purpose from the first to intervene, as soon as the spiritual end of the trial was accomplished; Abraham proving his complete and unconditional surrender to the will of G-d. This is the positive lesson of the Akedah.
The story of the trial of Abraham also brings a great negative teaching. The story of the Binding of Isaac opens the age-long warfare of Israel against the abominations of child-sacrifice, which was rife among the Semitic peoples, as well as their Egyptian and Aryan neighbours. In that age, it was astounding that Abraham's G-d should have interposed to prevent the sacrifice, not that He should have asked for it. A primary purpose of this command, therefore, was to demonstrate to Abraham and his descendants after him that G-d abhorred human sacrifice with an infinite abhorrence. Unlike the cruel heathen deities, it was the spiritual surrender alone that G-d required.
Moses warns his people not to serve G-d in the manner of the surrounding nations.
'For every abomination to the Lord, which He hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.' Deut 12:31
All the Prophets alike shudder at this hideous aberration of man's sense of worship, and they do not rest until all Israel shares their horror of this savage custom.
In Jeremiah 19:4-6, G-d tells us that human sacrifice is so horrible a concept to Him, that it did not even come into His mind to demand it from His creation, ‘They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind.’
We see the same thing in Psalm 106:37-38, and in Ezekiel 16:20.
This teaches that G-d would not accept Jesus’ death on the cross as a blood sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. The very idea of that G-d would accept a human sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins is unbiblical.
It's like adding a crime (murder) to an abomination (human sacrifice) and claiming it was an acceptable sacrifice.
In my opinion, there is a fundamental misunderstanding of sacrifice/atonement/forgiveness of sin in Christian circles, and I say this since I was a Christian once.

You misunderstood the story. Jesus was born to bring Christianity to the world. So the Jews were afraid that he was going to take over their world so they went to the Romans to lay down their case and they condemned Jesus to death. The Romans carried out the sentence.

It says specifically God is not man nor mortal that he should lie or change his mind. It says the messiah will bring a sin offering in the messianic time for HIMSELF AND the people. That rules out Jesus cuz he was “perfect.” Christianity falls apart on that claim alone. If Jesus was alive he was a Jew bringing Jews back and people to Judaism. You’re insane if you think a Jew or” god” came to the world to change his religion. Jesus was a practicing Jew who followed the laws of Moses and specifically said the law would not change or be destroyed until heaven and earth pass away, nothing will change. You’re following the heretic Paul’s words who started Christianity. Such a shame. If you truly follow Jesus you should be a Jew. He followed all the holidays and forbade any foreign ones (Christmas, Easter, etc) It also says in the Bible that you’re not allowed to bring a tree into your house and decorate it like the heathens did. So by celebrating Christmas you’re sinning and Jesus isn’t happy with you because his father is being stepped on. It also says at the end of times that people from all nations will “grab a hold of a Jew and say I am coming with you for I have heard that god is with you” lol so what does that mean for Christian’s?? I won't pretend to understand G-d's ways, all the why's of why history has played out the way it has. But Christianity is idolatry, has been and always will be, minor details of the story (true or not) won't change that.

I love watching your station as a Christian. If God does not change His mind then how can Judaism exist without a temple and how are there no sacrifices offered? I cannot fathom how a Jew can say God does not change His mind then follow the oral Torah believed to be offered up to Moses, never written down and changing all the time based on Men saying so. I have grown up hearing sermons on Abraham and Isaac my whole life as a Christian. Where in Judaism does it suggest one should not die to save the life of another? Where does Judaism say sacrifice is not needed? I too have looked to Judaism to answer questions but I have found more questions.

Answer: Christian theologians argue that the name "A wonderful counselor is the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the ruler of peace" refers to Jesus, who they allege combined human and divine qualities. They mistakenly believe that such a name can only be applied to God Himself. Moreover, the Christians incorrectly translate the verbs in verse 5 in the future tense, instead of the past, as the Hebrew original reads. Thus, the Christians render verse 5 as: "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on his shoulders; and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."
While admitting that "wonderful counselor" and "ruler of peace" can be applied to a man, Christian theologians argue that the phrases "mighty God" and "everlasting Father" cannot be incorporated as part of a man's name. Thus, they contend that Isaiah teaches that the Messiah has to be not only a man, but God as well. That this entire reasoning is incorrect may be seen from the name Elihu, "My God is He," which refers to an ordinary human being (Job 32:1, 1 Samuel 1:l, 1 Chronicles 12:21, 26:7, 27:18). A similar Christian misunderstanding of Scripture may be seen in their claims revolving around the name Immanuel, "God is with us." The simple fact is that it is quite common in the Bible for human beings to be given names that have the purpose of declaring or reflecting a particular attribute of God, e.g., Eliab, Eliada, Elzaphan, Eliakim, Elisha, Eleazar, Tavel, Gedaliah.
The fact remains that Jesus did not literally or figuratively fulfill any of Isaiah's words. A wonderful counselor does not advise his followers that if they have faith they can be agents of destruction (Matthew 21:19-21; Mark 11:14, 20-23). A mighty God does not take orders from anyone (Luke2:51, Hebrews 5:8), for no one is greater than he is (Matthew 12:31-32; John 5:30, 14:28). Moreover, he does not ask or need to be saved by anyone (Matthew 26:39, Luke 22:42), for he cannot die by any means (Matthew 27:50, Mark 15:37, Luke 23:46, John 19:30). He who is called the Son of God the Father (John 1:18, 3:16) cannot himself be called everlasting Father. One cannot play simultaneously the role of the son and the Father; it is an obvious self-contradiction. He who advocates family strife (Matthew 10:34-35, Luke 12:49-53) and killing enemies (Luke 19:27) cannot be called a ruler of peace.

I understand because I was once there brainwashed but now that I know as much as I do about all the lies, I can’t stomach the thought of what the church is doing to these poor people. If they only knew how the church manipulated the scriptures they’d be sick. I remember the one thing that completely disgusted me was how they took a psalm that said “sacrifices and offerings you did not desire, but my ears you opened for me.” And the church changed it to “but a body you prepared for me.” I was furious and in such shock. I couldn’t believe they would change G-D’S words. I brought it up to my old pastor and it didn’t phase him. I was outraged. Like what does phase him? @@Crystal11Skulls same with many people I’ve talked too. The second coming of the messiah is found no where as so many other things are not found! (Trinity, messiah being G-d, messiah dying for sins, etc) It’s such a shame. It goes all the way back to Josephus. Many Christian’s use his sources to justify Christianity which is funny because they don’t read into his documentary. He was a practicing Jew the remainder of his life! Why if he was working with the Christian’s and they had the truth? He did it to save his life. He knew the truth. He was asked how can we destroy Judaism? His minimal writings about Jesus changed history and truly did destroy Judaism. It’s so sad how people won’t see the truth and they say we are heretics and will “go to hell for not believeing.” I say to them if Jesus isn’t G-d and you’re worshipping him then you’re violating the first 3 commandments. There’s nothing you can show some people that will open their eyes unless God allows it. I try so hard to show them everything and like you said they see the Bible through a Christian lens.
