Fascinating. I wonder what is the price difference between a private locksmith and a Ford car dealership for such a job ?

The difference between local locksmith and car dealerships can be over $200. Plus if you don't have a working key, you'll have to tow the car to the dealership, and with local locksmith he'll come to your driveway and make it on the spot.

Excellent video. May I ask what you charged that customer for everything you did there? Thank you!

No offense but why would you show someone how to come along and take your job when you know they’re going to undercut you, take your customers.
The only thing standing in between you and your customers is them doing it for half the price and theses guys doing it everywhere. .
Use to be that being a locksmith was a well respected community but anymore have guys whoring themselves out for next to nothing then the guys making videos wonder why they’re getting less and less calls.
If you think your job is secure then think again as a customer will tell you I can pay another guy half of what they’ll pay you. Don’t think so then think again. Have had this happen many times and I’m not out making RUclips videos either.
It’s one thing to help a fellow legitimate locksmith not if you look around there’s guys foaming at the mouth to take ur skit.
Btw that was an easy job. Get one where the thief wrecked the immobilizer coil. You know it’s a pain in the arse job when the repair shop your doing it for declines to install the immo coil off of junkyard steering column and would rather have you, the automotive locksmith do it instead.
I did the semi truck driving thing 27 years ago and stayed in it for 13 1/2 years Locksmith industry is kind of like the trucking industry used to be as in back then you could get a dime and get a dozen drivers now I can give you a dime and I can get a dozen locksmith to show up in five minutes. Now that doesn’t mean that the dozen locksmith know what they’re doing.
They come and go regularly where I’m at and sometimes they come two or three at a time trying to work together against me
I’ve worked really hard to curate relationships with shops and heck I’ve even lost a couple, but that just showed me who the owners truly were. Funny thing is the last shop that decided to go with the half price company guy from car keys express will eventually have to call me back. This guy can’t do everything because there’s other dealerships he goes to and they call me all the time to do stuff that he can’t do.
When that dealership calls me back begging for me to come do something this other guy can’t do they will pay and pay dearly and being that they’re not one of my regulars anymore. They don’t get priority bump in the line. I leave a couple slots today open just for my priority customers.

What are the odds that someone in the uploader's hometown will see this video and decide to be a locksmith? Did you consider that in your aneurysm-induced rant?
