I’m going on my third season with my ADCO cover and it’s held up great in the crappy, cold, windy, Chicagoland area. There’s not a single tear in it. The trick is to cover all sharp edges, I recommend pool noodles and get it as tight as you can.
Just put on my camper cover a few days ago. My camper is 9 years old and was never stored outside. But we shall see how it survives a central Maine winter!!!!
Thanks for posting this. Soooo many people claim you don't need one beacause dealers don't cover them in the lot and for other boorish reasons. Seems a like a small investment to protect your camper for me.
I ran across an example of why you should store your rv under cover just last week. An 04 chinook with a very clean and beautiful interior that looked like a mangy dog on the outside because the texas sun had destroyed the clear coat on the full body paint. Dealer was asking for 10 grand less than the next cheapest 2500 glacier presumably because the exterior looked so bad.
Great topic that shows how a small investment can pay huge dividends over the long run. On a lighter note, I love the upside down "prop" coffee cup towards the end of the video. LOL
Am glad you posted is video lot of people don't know are don't care about the of a r v unit until it's time to trade then it's all brand new the roof is the major part of care if you can when not in use cover it the next happy camper will thank you good information
Good stuff. Thanks Josh. I spent ~$185 on a cover one year ago, and I figure it might make it through the winter while stored in E. Tenn. If I have to spend $185 every year and a half to keep the sun and weather from beating the crap out of a *no longer produced* orange Winnebago Minnie, it is well worth it.
Wasn't sure on the size I needed so you parts person when out a measured a unit in stock so I could get the right one. Had him order it right then. You people rock.
Covering an RV is definitely a good idea. The sun will kill it. Only problem is, I have yet to find a cover that lasts. I have tried three different brands and used their best quality. Will not last more than one season, two if we’re lucky. The sun disintegrates the material, and it will then rip, if you look at it wrong. The wind will also rip it even if you pad all sharp edges and install the rain gutter guard balls. I had the guard ball punch right thru a new cover in the wind. No one will warranty the covers against wind damage. What is your suggestion on the best quality cover that will last to its 3 year claim? We are in coastal California, and don’t get snow.
Biggest issue for me in San Diego is the wind wears out the covers within a year. They tear up really bad. I’m on my second cover in two years. One was a Adco.
Another excellent video! In my neck of the woods we often have high winds, and I’ve seen covers cause chaffing. We also get 112+ heat in blistering sun, so I think a cover is worth it. Just buy quality and make sure it is snug.
So, went to our local RV shop to buy a cover for the travel trailer we just got, and was told that covers do more damage by holding in moisture? Lady said your RV is meant to be in the elements and a cover would only increase the wear on the seals and such... Does she know what she is talking about? I live in the snow belt, and I worry about the vents on the roof including the AC unit, I believe these areas should be protected when snow will be sitting on it for 3 months. Please advise.
Hardly anyone covers their rig out here in eastern Colorado. The covers get destroyed by wind in about 15 minutes. Need covers built out of Unobtainium
They're definitely not an "across the board" sort of thing. I should've touched on that so I'm glad you're bringing this up. "Unobtainium" was hands-down the moment that nearly ruined that movie for me. It's as bad as the line "It's the planet Crematoria in the Igneous System" from the Chronicles of Riddick
At the end of this you are holding the cup upside down.. I'm guessing you where wondering if someone would notice.. I did, what do i win? As always, good job sir..
I live in Iowa and just bought a 2020 apex 288bhs and was told a cover would destroy the paint. They suggested to wax and put a UV protectant on twice a year. Which would you suggest Midwesterner to Midwesterner
In a word: Both. 2020 Apex aren't painted. They stopped painting the nose caps a few seasons ago once they adopted that windshield. UV Protectant = Great once the season hits. Then use the cover thru winters or long storage seasons.
I’ve read here that both ADCO and PermaPro are on an even playing field because of PermaPro dumping the lifetime warranty. ADCO offers the tire covers with their package but PermaPro with separate tire cover purchase is cheaper by only a few bucks. So the only thing I’d like to ask is which is the easier installation? Any input about that?
We agree that they're roughly on a level playing field. With ADCO including tire covers on their all-weather cover (which is what we stock exclusively) & our supplier offering them at slightly less cost than the PermaPro it was simply the better value. I've not personally put both on an RV, but I've never found any cover really "hard" to use -- just a little time consuming. It's not something to approach and say "i'll just do this real quick."
My '00 fleetwood said in the owners paperwork that covering the camper would void roof and floor warranty. I didnt use a cover and they had to replace the roof, under warranty, at 4 years anyway. I dont know if it would have lasted longer if it was covered, or if I would've had to pay for the replacement if I had covered it.
In a previous "cover your RV" video you recommended the Classic Accessories PermaPro with it's lifetime warranty. Is there a reason for the changed recommendation? (I bought the PermaPRo!)
*EXCELLENT QUESTION!* They're still great covers, but they no longer carry a lifetime warranty. So, essentially, it puts them on an even playing field with these ADCO covers. We are able to get a better deal on the ADCOs, so it's basically the same effective result for a client at less money for the ADCO.
Love the videos. I hope you can answer a question. I live in New England with lots snow and ICE. I want to use a cover but wondered if there is something you should do to the air conditioner (and vents) so the cover doesn't damage them with the weight of the snow. Thanks for your help
We get plenty of that here as well. It really depends on the RV's construction. if it has a snow-load rated roof, then you're ace It doesn't hurt to get the snow off now and but I really don't like people being on top of an RV if the roofing is iced up
What about wasps and spiders crawling up under it? I’m here in southern MI and have some woods adjacent to my yard. I know it sounds great but there is a downside, CRITTERS! They live in the woods but don’t like staying there (rude!) Spiders are the real concern, they blow in like locusts I swear! I don’t want to spray my (future) camper with something that’ll ruin the cover I (will have) bought to protect it, but I also don’t want to take the cover off to discover Shelob’s lair under there. What’s the advice for that?
I checked Adco and they don’t appear to have teardrop covers. Can they make a cover for a Helio O4? If so, how expensive are they? Thanks for your videos

How did the camper make the winter? Main’ah here thinking of using one for ours. tks
Sold. I'll pick one up when we stop by next spring to purchase our bunkhouse. I'll even bring you some coffee.
We'll hold you to it!
Wait, he drinks coffee? Must have run out of all that stash of ?green bottled carbonated stuff from back in the day, grin.
@@marshaloneagle4646 Not a coffee guy. I love the smell of the stuff but as soon as it hits my tongue i get whiskey shivers.

Thx for the feedback. We never claim to be perfect, but we really do try to take care of our clients
lol. Throwback Thursday. One of UJ’s finest!
I'm going to cover mine in sunny Florida.

I wish I had mentioned this because you're absolutely right in that they're not ideal in ALL regions. TY

Properly fitting is a key point. Things like pool noodles on rain spots will help greatly -- anything you can do to "soften" those pointy-parts.
My Coachmen Apex Nano 187RB is covered with the ADCO that was purchased from you. We feel it was a good investment.
Thx for the feedback Ken!
How has this aged? Would an update be useful?
I still recommend it

Josh Josh Josh. I want to say something witty but I’m just kind of sitting here shaking my head and chuckling.
Sounds like we really had it *covered.*
Love the imaginary drink out of the upside down coffe mug. LOL!
Here in AZ they last about 6 months lol/happy trails
Not for every region for sure. Thx for bringing this up!
Back when i bought my Jayco 5-6 years ago was told not to use a cover because it would void the membrane warranty for the roof and encourage roof rot.
A cheap tarp will trap water and cause molding. A quality cover is one of the best things you could do to your RV.
aww look at our woody in the window 😂🤣 sorry for showing up while you work but it was great hope to see you next time
You're welcome here any time! :)
*LOVE the upside down mug* !!!!! *LOL* !!!! And yes, you *NEED* to protect your investment!!!! #RVCover #HaylettRV
and you tried to take a drink from the upside down mug!?
They all fit like c!!! And the wind tears they to shreds.
These videos really make my day. ☕
LMAO @ the upside-down coffee cup!!!!

Josh, I have always covered my RV with Adco. I now have a Courgar 5th wheel with solar. Should I cover this as well? Thank you
If you can, then I would
Glad you didn't burn your toes while carrying that mug upside down. ;)
You know how Dairy Queen flips your Blizzard upside down?
It's a lot like that.

Do you cover the caravan in summer the van gets about 10 degrees plus hotter than outside Temperature.
If it’s going to be left for a while covering from the sun can be good

A lot's changed in the last 20 years of RV production thankfully

why are you holding the mug upside down outside haha
"Why not" is really the only answer.

They’re made for rvs with ac units
@josh, is there an "I saw this on Josh's video" discount at Bish's? I see these are priced about the same everywhere online.
No.. but I like that idea

Critters crawl all over it regardless.
A good exterior wash and conditioner should always be part of your spring routine
Hi my question is , what type of cover you recommend for RV with solar panel , like the Geo Pro? Thanks
ADCO all weather is definitely my go to
