    The video is amazing! thanks for so detailed analysis, the breakdown and the staging is extremely impressive, you've put so much top quality work into it! I especially *LOVE* the scenes framed from the "wind direction" point of view, as well as the breakdown of the common failures, and the accompanying amazing & amusing staged bloopers :)

    Wow.. I have watched your tutorial several times, and yet only today somehow it clicked that rolling the board into the turn is different than turning the board using the sail. What a difference it made! The balance of the board, the solidity of the carve, and the improvement in glide all seemed significantly better by rolling into the turn without changing the wing position at all, then moving the wing to the neutral position about my head. Thanks!

    This looks great. I am still working my way through your previous tutorial video and look forward to putting in place the lessons to be learned from this video in due course. I have searched all over RUclips for Wing Foiling tutorials, there are plenty of really good ones, but, find your tutorials the easiest to understand and relate to, thank you.

    So important to show the wipeouts - how and why it goes wrong. Can't learn as well without that
    And I agree with others below that the Wind direction overlay is very helpful.
    Great job on this video

    Hey there- since you have so many great videos, are you ever going to put one together on how to flag a wing for downwinders, swell, waves etc? I hope so.. thanks

      Hi David, I definitely plan to make that. Although that's a topic that's very tricky to film where I live, so it may take a while to capture footage that's clear enough for tutorials.

    Thank you! I was trying to have the wing powered through the turn. But I see now that you lift it up when you're going down wind. Then you pull in after the turn.

    hi from canada :) I started windsurfing 1989 then kitesurfing in 2007 and now looking at this new wingfoil sport. Question I have is how well can you go upwind ? I'm guessing the foil is way better than a windsurfing fin or a kitboard for going upwind. Also must be a great upper body workout when using a wing to power your board vs being hooked into a bar or boom. This is a great instructional video :)

      Hello. Yes wind powered foils ride at a greater angle upwind than wind powered planing vessels such as windsurfing and kitesurfing (although it depends on what equipment you're comparing and skill level). Kite foiling has even better upwind ability then wing foiling. In fact you may find it more difficult to go downwind at times when foiling. Wing foiling is a great workout especially when learning - as your technique improves you start to steer the wing with your core rather than your arms which means you can ride for longer. Also, you can harness to the wing once you're over the beginner stages for long distance journeys. Wing foiling is also good for locations where you can't kite, or wouldn't kite because of gusty wind.

    my challenge is to learn how to continue toe side after doing the jibe. I therefore practice by turning and going off foil. what is the best way to practice

    Small pointer for toeside-to-heelside jibe (from a novice mind you) At 7:29 during the fullspeed segment you show switching feet before the jibe, but at 7:40 during the slower narrated segment you skip that part, maybe edit that switch-up back in?

    I noticed this rider has his feet in the middle of the boar where i keep my feet closer to the rail, is it better to move them to the middle for jibing. At first i tried to jibe on foil, tons of crashes, then i did 20 taxi jibes in a row then the next time i tried on foil was a success. Larry

    Question- excellent videos ( wind direction arrow really helps)- Overall, I am proficient at getting up on foil, staying upwind, etc. But, I am still struggling with Heel to toe gybes- I start the turn, switch front hand- start to change to new back hand and then just drop off foil and almost stop-- I think that I am cutting the turn to cross wind to sharp and fast-- any suggestions? thx

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  2 года назад +1

      Thanks David, tell me more about what's happening when you "drop off foil". Are you dropping off towards toeside or are you sinking straight down on top of the board? Do you have some speed left when you drop, or do you have very little speed and you're at the point the foil cannot lift you?

    • @donsloan2206
      @donsloan2206 2 года назад

      @@kitesurfcollege Thx for getting back to me. I think I have enough speed at the start- then drop off just when I get to downwind or a bit past down wind and then drop down some what flat- I think I am just getting a good grip on the new back hand then too.. If I fall. I fall off to the new toeside ( inside)
