+Juan Carlito Mendoza (Carlito) Yeah man. I'm a huge fan of yours as well. I'm in college and I'm wondering what you think sets apart someone like me from you guys. I feel like I'm behind a barrier. A barrier between being good and great. Any ideas? Reply if you can. Have a nice day. :)
He’s been doing big things as a clinician and online teacher. He went on nationwide or worldwide clinic tours sponsored by meinl with Matt halpern and mike Johnston and it became a huge success and those 3 meshed really well. Also he’s played at some big drum festivals since then too, has filled in for Matt garstka on the generation axe tour, filled in for halpern in periphery when needed and all his other projects he’s in. He’s definitly stayed busy for sure.
Been a fan of JP Bouvet since DrumOff, I own the Dave Mackay Group albums and would highly recommend them! Very unique sound! The DW kit sounds great, here's hoping someday I too will be graced by the DW logo in my studio :)
+Bernardo Nobre I think pretty much all of those performances at GC's drum offs including JP's were kinda pretentious show off-bullshit, and the octopads were just garbage, but what JP is doing right here, this is art.
+Lander Pridgen thank you for this comment as I didn't know Thomas had won. he certainly is an amazing musician. but so is Aaron Spears, and others. I feel that JP is the best when it comes to the most recent ones.
It sounds like someone yells 'WAH!' in the far left at 1:36. It made me look over my shoulder haha. Anyway this video is the tits! Those linear grooves in the beginning get me every time.
(If DW see this comment - have a few questions, please click read more to see all of it, thanks! ) Awesome video, JP is very skilled, he plays with so much control but still is powerful. From around 1:20 for example, it's so fluid and balanced. First took interest in JP from watching Matt Gartska videos when I found his vlog about taking over from Matt for the Generation Axe tour of top guitarists. He learned the whole set of all these various different styles including the complex Animals As Leaders stuff in days, mentioning in his vlog that it wasn't just learning the music, some of the guitarists wanted their songs played note for note whereas others like Zakk Wylde wanted to jam out - so he had to adapt not just to different rock/metal styles but also different styles of playing, in a few days. Now that's the kind of musician I aspire to be! Questions for DW - What wood type is this Collector's kit, and what finish is it? A Collector's cherry is my dream kit that I hope to save up enough for someday, but whatever this kit is, it sounds great. The finish looks similar to the 'Candy Stripe Padouk' I've seen on some recent Collector's for sale but this video is 5 years old so not sure if that's it. Also, how did you sync up the audio from the Zoom H6 to the GoPro footage? I've got an H6 myself, hearing such great audio in this video just using 3 mics (I'm guessing H6 onboard mic wasn't used) resassures me I'll be able to get similarlary good results myself but the syncing with video is where I'm a bit unsure. If there's a decent line in on the camera I'll plug the H6 into that, otherwise I manually sync audio - make a sharp noise in the video like clicking drumsticks together to act as a clapper board and match the audio waveform of that noise from the camera's built-in mic to the waveform from the H6 as best I can. But if there's an easier way of doing it that isn't too expensive (such as software with a pro-level price) I'd love to know. Thanks!
Believe it was a Maple Collector's kit. As far as the audio it would have been 4 mics and the built in XY mic on the zoom (as a "room" mic). This was then mixed in a DAW. the video editors then synchronized the audio to the an edited video. Hope this helps. Cheers
Awesome stuff, but what I do not understand is, why don't you guys (as in DW Drums) tell us on everyone one of your videos like these what wood type the drums are and what type of snare drums are being used?! Yes, you do this with some videos, but for an example, what is this guy using for a snare? I like the snare, but can order this kind because.its not stated what it is....besides being a Collectors Series. Thank you! DW Cherry wood drums to me are the perfect drums!!! :)
hey there, you say in the description that the audio is recorded into the zoom h6. is there eq-ing to it? or did you use the h6 as an interface and recorded into an daw? thanks for your answer greetings from germany
+T.Greens What the heck, they just put 'collectors series' in the description. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's a cherry shell just from the deep bottom end I hear here.
I love how unique JP's drumming is. I personally think he's one of the most creative guys out there.
My boy JP always killing it!! Great job as always!
How long have you two been together?
+BurnThePope0514 we have been friends for a few years now. He's a great drummer and even better person. Super down to earth.
+Juan Carlito Mendoza (Carlito) You and JP have the best drum off solos by far
+Oscar Bonilla Thanks man. Really means a lot and it was definitely a fun solo to compose.

No offense to anyone else that won, but I definitly think JP was the best that came out from the Guitar Center Drum Off
+Bernardo Nobre I think pretty much all of those performances at GC's drum offs including JP's were kinda pretentious show off-bullshit, and the octopads were just garbage, but what JP is doing right here, this is art.
+Bernardo Nobre Thomas Pridgen won it a while back, and he's pretty damn good
+Lander Pridgen thank you for this comment as I didn't know Thomas had won. he certainly is an amazing musician. but so is Aaron Spears, and others. I feel that JP is the best when it comes to the most recent ones.
Thomas actually won when he was 9, if you can believe that.
ERIC MOORE

2:02 I got one question for ya... WHAT ARE THOSE ?!
What kinda shells are these?
+T.Greens What the heck, they just put 'collectors series' in the description. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's a cherry shell just from the deep bottom end I hear here.
+Carlo Loielo Almost certain its the african chechen
+T.Greens Maple. Nothing else and the outer veneer has no bearing on the sound.
+T.Greens The Finish is Stripped Paduak with SSC Shells.
+dw drums thanks for the reply! Love the finish and the sound! Oh yeah and great playing too! :)
I've always said that I didn't liked DW Drums... Truth is that I've said that because I can't afford one. Hahaha! Ok, I said it!
Looks like the Mexican Chechen finish, lol
