True! I was really baffled when they didn't receive the recognition they deserved. This was a really good debut song.
Actually Pepe was so popular back then, and there's too much anticipation on how CLC will rise up, but their next song "Like" didnt please the public, and didnt successfully established their name, and up until now, there's still no song that made them rise. La Vie En Rose will be a great song for them, but Cube screw them up.

The moment Cube announced that they're going to debut a new girl group, I was so excited because it's been a while since 4minute. I'm a Cube stan. Then Pepe came out. I think it's pretty good. But unfortunately, they didn't get the real recognition. Until now.. 😭😭 Cube is bad!

I'm not sure why people think this single was slept on? Pepe did well for a rookie debut, it's just that CUBE dropped the ball on the follow up and maintaining the momentum of their debut :( The company itself has gone through some pretty drastic front office changes so their management has been tumultuous, but I honestly believe if they'd kept this concept and evolved that style into releases like 'No' they'd probably have a considerably more stable fanbase built. Pepe wasn't "badass" but it wasn't cutesy or innocent, either, and imo perfectly suited the girls' age and image at the time. For the life of me I can't understand why their team found it necessary to play roulette with their direction when they'd already had something that was working well for them.
