Didn't even have to create a new player. Just load up ur roster. Go to season and customize league. Put ur custom in there and save that season. And then ur fine. It will work for blacktop as well
what's fun is you can create a multitude of players to play with in game..not just one, in other words; you can basically change the roster of the team you wish to play for completely. you pick one player whilst playing with another player that you yourself created..

For anyone having trouble with this on Xbox 360, I had the same issue: "can't trade from a created team". When I went to make the trade, I had to select the default player from a regular roster first, THEN trade him with my created player. If you select your created player first, it won't work. My created player is Rasheed Wallace. I couldn't trade him from my created team, but I was able to select Kurt Thomas from the Knicks and trade him to my created team in exchange for Rasheed. Then when I went to Create a Legend Rasheed was there.

After about four seasons the bulls Celtics Lakers a 76ers are almost un beatable. Try it if you like a challenge and a slightly new experience on your my career.

Swat out the old players for the younger ones so they don't retire so quickly. You can even have multiple created players also. I'm on the cavs. Its me my two cousins I created and brad dauhtry. Its fun and all the games are intense cause all the teams are good. Try it.
