What Is The Object of Your Faith? - Tim Conway

  • Nothing can be the object of saving faith except what God has revealed in His Word. So what has the Lord revealed in His Word? He has revealed to us what His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, has accomplished on the Cross. In this message, Tim gives a survey of the Gospel of Matthew on how to be saved. This is not about doing as well as you can and being as good as you can, and trying to imagine your sins forgiven and trying to imagine you are not going to hell and that you are on the way to heaven--that is not what faith is about. Rather: I have to have Christ. Saving faith is about having a person, about having Christ.

    Love love love this message.. It is not the power of our imaginations that is a saving Faith... it's Belief in Saving Sacrifice of Christ and it is trusting in His WORD no matter what the circumstances and having confidence Christ does exactly as He promises. Every day I see people's prayers for help and telling GOD exactly how they want them answered. Just Pray for Help and Jesus knows the perfect help and timing to bring it. Due to exhaustive experience now I never doubt the Saviors help is better than anything I could ever imagine. Surrender and Trust in Christ. I did not always live this way and it was exhausting and filled with uncertainty trying to imagine my way to heaven. I was a final surrender to just be all in and emptied for Christ to fill me up. HALLELUJAH! Follow Him.

    Pastor Tim, there is a question I would like to ask. It is about that bíblical text in which the mother of two Christ's discipled who asked the Lord Jesus Christ to allow her two sons to sit down one on the Lord Jesus Christ's one on His left, and the other on His right. And the Lord Jesus Christ said that they didn't know what they asked. The Lord Jesus Christ also asked them if they would drink the cup He would drink, and if they would be baptized with the same baptism He would be baptized. And something told me the Lord Jesus Christ's baptism after having drunk that cup would be go to hell after His death, where He would be from Friday through Sunday. Is that correct? Or that baptism would be something else?

    Personal notes (don't open it's really long just trust me ok)
    14:00 Gre
    Nothing can be the object of saving faith except what's in God's Word.
    17:30
    Has He revealed in the Word anything about Jesus Christ, that's true? That's true all the time? Whether you believe it or not? That which is true all the time.
    It's believing the things about Christ. That's the test.
    "Do you believe I am able to do this?"
    Christ's ability.
    If there's anything Matthew wants us to see is Christ is able. Whether we believe it or not. Christ is able.
    As you go through Matthew, you just get the highest kind/supreme
    Jesus went through all Galilee healing every disease and every affliction. They brought in all the sick. Again in Matthew 8. Cast out spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. Again in 9. Healing every disease and every affliction. Everywhere He went He healed everybody. They brought in the sick. Went *to* the sick, He's healing everything. Matthew 12
    Many followed, He healed them all. Sent Him out to all the regions - Go clean out the hospitals, go clean out everybody. They brought to Him all who were sick, that they might touch the fringe of His garment, and those who touched it were made well. They put them at His feet and He healed them. Does the bible tell anyone to believe they're healed before they're healed? It never does. If i can just get to Him, if I can just get to Christ, all will be well.
    If I receive a gift, I don't sit down and imagine like crazy that the gift is already mine. I have to let go of everything that stands in competition with the gift. What stands in competition with the gift? Anything that would keep you from going to Him and touching the hem of His garment. People don't go to Christ all the time, there are things that stand in competition. It's the duty of man to believe what God has revealed. God has never revealed in His Word whether Tim Conway will be brought to the end of himself or not. He doesn't reveal that I go into a corner and hold my head thinking my sins are forgiven. He is mighty to save. One of the greatest examples "come to me" Jesus is giving instruction to go to Him. All who are heavy laden. God never declares if I'm laden enough, if I'm heavy laden enough. If you will come to Me, I will give you rest. That's where the Gospel starts and ends. Saving faith isn't that I'm believing I'm heavy laden enough. Too many people are gazing and standing themselves in the mirror. Trying to figure out. Figure out what? If they're heavy laden enough. It's enough to know you're sick, diseased, blind, enough to know you have a need. Centurion had a need, he had enough to know that. Jesus is calling, I'm the rescuer, put your intention on Me. Oh if I can just get to Christ. Nothing can be the object of Saving Faith unless it's been revealed in God's Word. Said to paralytic rise pick up your bed and go home. Nowhere does God tell us try to imagine our sins are forgiven, if we can just convince ourselves it's so. Saving faith involves a sin forgiving person-that you may know-saving faith involves a faith saving object- that's a person. All of these examples in Matthew that He is that person. Matthew tells us in the very beginning, you're going to call this Person Jesus. This is the reality. We need the facts. if you're worried about becoming a Christian you're going to need the facts. About what? About Christ! I need to be saved, what do I do about my sin, how do I escape the wrath to come? Matthew gives us the facts. The facts is that Jesus is the sin forgiver. It's His person, greatness, merit, might ability to forgive sin, His death, His suffering-that's the merit. Don't stand gazing at your hand, it's His hem you got to touch, don't stare at your finger. No away with that, just reach out and grab hold. Matthew loves us more than anyone else you can tell by his account of salvation. The essence of saving faith can be found in two words: "Follow Me" It comes back to "Me" Christ says two words, "Follow Me". Jesus saw a man sitting at the tax booth and He says "Follow Me". The sweet simplicity of those two words. What sort of call would the savior of the world extend to one of the chiefest of sinners. A tax collector, and unbelieving sinner. Matthew, try to imagine you've come to the end of yourself. Matthew, have you repented enough? Are you heavy laden enough? He says to him "Follow Me" and Matthew arose and followed Him. Can you imagine Matthew saying "Oh, I haven't come to the end of myself?" What does that matter? Jesus says "Follow Me". The Bible doesn't tell me if I've believed enough, come to the end of myself enough. God calls me to believe what's true and what's true is this, all treasure in heaven-He says to young rich ruler-You want treasure in Heaven, you want eternal life? You listen to my voice, I want you to do certain things, you follow Me. Both with the rich young ruler and with Matthew, their faith was the same, when He said "Follow Me' that's where faith is tested. Both had money on the line. One said Christ is better than my money. Other said that's not the case. This is the Way of salvation. There are a myriad of unknowns when Matthew was told "Follow Me". What's going to happen to me if I give my stuff away what happens if I leave my tax money will I be able to pay my mortgage? But there was one known to Matthew, that was to follow Him. You're not following Him if He tells you to do things in His Word and you don't do it. You're not following Him if you're not even in His Word and you don't read it. Looking to Him and imitate Him. Poor in spirit, seek and strive, resting on Him. Remember His is the garment you come and touch. That's where the healing is. Lord you don't want me to be angry like I used to be angry you don't want me to lust like I used to lust. He's got all you need, come after Me. No one becomes a Christian without being confronted with these words, with "Follow Me" Jesus isn't saying just go out and be moral, be as good as you can. Run with your eyes on Me, don't take them off. Jesus' words always call for a decision. And they always get one. You either ignore it, you've made a decision. You say Yes Lord and you don't go. You don' follow Him sometimes--partially--no it's all in. Our eyes go back to Him-Jesus Christ the Righteous. Jesus doesn't want the scraps, the leftovers. He wants all in. Complete, entire, totally vested, totally in submission. We can just say the word--Totalitarian. Jesus didn't come to set up a democracy. He's Lord, He's Good, He's Savior. We always think we know the remedy. He knows the remedy. He knows what we need to be saved from-It's a narrow way, but it leads to life. Jesus knows the Way and He's got the keys. This is the one you want to follow. Paul did that, For me to live, is Christ. I'm all in. I am all in. I hope you can say that. I've considered the facts, I'm all in. What made Matthew do it? We don't really know, but you think about Him sitting there, I'm sure He'd heard the reports, but you know what, so great a religious leader, no religious leader had ever given Him the time of day. Can you imagine a Pharisee or a scribe--follow me? They would have shunned him. So what was it? Was it His voice? Either way He got up. And when you get up, that's when your sins are forgiven.

      He said I will never leave you nor forsaken you. He said I will be with you always. He said the Spirit shall abide with you forever. John 13:6
      If these things say something to you, you are still saved, but if not repent: God has no part with evil or apathy or hypocrisy. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but the gift of God is eternal life through his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

      The fact that you realize this doesn’t mean you lost the Holy Spirit. A person who has seared their conscience doesn’t know that they have done it and is reprobate. You are listening to the lies of the devil and coming to an agreement with His lies. Know your identity in Christ and renounce those lies!!

    The issue with calvinist theology is, it never brings peace and joy to a believers heart.. it only damns them to a life of doubt and confusion. It causes them to seek after emotional self-righteous experiences, instead of resting IN FAITH in the finished work of Christ. Its heartbreaking.

      If whatever you call "Calvinist theology" leads to that then those people are not teaching what the Scriptures say. The emphasis of Tim's message, and of our ministry, is not to teach what Calvin taught, but to say what the Bible says. Can people take certain verses and misunderstand them and twist them? Yes, 2 Peter 3:16 - There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.

    If your ministry is full of people who don't even know if they're saved or not, then you are failing to preach the gospel 🤷🏻‍♂️ it's that's simple.

      When people have questions on their own faith, they are the ones responsible for whether they live or die. If we preach and someone doesn't recieve us, God said we have washed our hands of their blood and saved our own souls. Even if they don't repent, we have done our part to areas try. Not everyone has faith. 1 Thessalonians 3:2

    • @1WhoConquers
      @1WhoConquers 2 года назад +6

      Better to have people who are questioning, then to have people who think they are saved, and are not...
      Matthew 7:14 ESV - For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
      Matthew 7:22-23 ESV - On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
      Philippians 2:12-13 ESV - Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

      @@1WhoConquers But Calvinists cannot question or respond to the Gospel - because they are TOTALLY dead in sin.

    To be saved !! What an absurd concept, you need to worry for your safety while you are alived, afterwards only a tomb is your final destination, and you are quite safe there, if you are not, does not matter at all.

  • @Ancient-Paths
    @Ancient-Paths 2 года назад

    How can you know if you are saved? Well, you cannot if you are a Calvinist. According to Calvinism some of us were chosen by God to go to heaven - and some of us were chosen by God to go to hell - and that's that. Does that make Jesus good and kind? It is no good crying out to God for salvation - if you were not chosen by Him.
    But praise be to God - Calvinism can nowhere be found in the Bible. No wonder all these poor people are so confused - since they are trying to connect the T.U.L.I.P doctrine with Scripture. Salvation is totally the work of God in RESPONSE to a humble repentant heart having heard the true Gospel. You will know if you are saved - because your faith produces a radical transformation in your life.
    It is true, as Pastor Tim says - that all we have to do is "consider the facts" of the Gospel and "come" to Jesus. But Calvinism says that you CANNOT do this - because you are so totally dead in sin - that you cannot respond in faith to the Gospel message.
