It just made me sick to see all those good windows and doors demolished. I know there are people who could have used them. I understand the reasoning for wanting the house torn down but there is a need out there for things that shouldn't have been destroyed in this operation.
That is what I was going to say, what a waste.
Well then you should’ve saved them🙄
Hot sale items to people flipping houses or those who can’t afford new windows and doors
Use to be a time when a contractor would allow people to pick through. Until people started getting hurt on the property & would end up taking the contractors to court. It's sad to watch it all destroyed, but insurance companies & lawyers make it almost impossible to be charitable.
I'm a elderly,on a fix in come, I could off use them windows and doors. I freeze in the winter days.My house needs window and doors.
Local fire company could have used the house for fire training purposes as it burned.
They generally will not burn down a home in a neighborhood. Think about it
Imagine how pissed the snakes must be
Good windows and doors, no telling what was good inside, what a waste.
This operator seems very inexperienced when it comes to demolishing a house.
The hose guy is pretty good.
indeed
Just wasting time.. got make the job last.. must of worked for govt before that job
.
No doubt
I'd say he did a pretty good job really
There are situations where tearing down is necessary (cat collector, hoarder etc) but too many people are struggling financially. Allow crews to come in to strip the property down. Donate those goods. A family dealt a low blow by COVID might need a replacement window. A couple just starting out might really appreciate bland oak cabinets. The possibilities are endless. Partner with a nearby prison - restorative work done at that prison gives new skills to people looking to reintegrate back into society. Get in contact with trade unions. A plumber might have an elderly woman in need of a new sink; a well-cleaned and donated one means she can put her money towards food.
J
Spot on! We have to rethink our mindless filling landfills with materials that can easily be repurposed, regenerated, recycled. Companies who are doing architectural salvage are beginning to find this to be very profitable. Beyond that, Habitat for Humanity can build to fit donated items - especially doors which, for some reason, have just become ridiculously and pointlessly expensive…for cheap quality crap, too! I know these operators and excavation companies geek out on trashing it and doing it quickly. Well, it has to be more than that in this day and age when resources are becoming more precious, and at times scarce.
There is a “reclamation” company in Chicago that goes into buildings slated for demolition and they remove wood floors, tin ceilings, old windows and window shams, antique air vents, balustrades, doors, etc. They are selling many of these resources to people doing new builds, but want something old in their new condos. People are spending a mint to put an old oak plank floor into a brand new condo. DO NOT TRASH EVERYTHING!!!
Thank you for just mentioning it Habitat for Humanity is not getting half the support they used to.
Dang that house looks better than mine that's the corporate American way!
could have salvaged some of the windows and doors and things they looked pretty new
Exactly what I was thinking.
Before everyone came and took what they wanted the house would be so unsafe.
Just a liability to the owner. Tear it down and be done with it.
Obviously not a professional demolition contractor. - most likely the home owner on a rental or borrowed unit. If I had to do it (tear the house down for whatever reason) this is exactly how I would want to do it. Have a good time - enjoy the experience - looks like fun.
Thanks for posting it.
I'm not taking ANYTHING away from the operator's track hoe skills. He has them - and it showed many times - but a demo-pro would have had it on the ground sooner - but without as much fun.
We have to rethink our mindless trash and throw away mentality - filling landfills with materials which can easily be repurposed, regenerated, reclaimed, recycled. Companies who are doing architectural salvage are actually beginning to find this to be very profitable.
Beyond that, charities like Habitat for Humanity can build to fit donated items - especially doors which, for some reason, have just become ridiculously and pointlessly expensive…for cheap quality crap, too! I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and it is so upsetting to see community construction communities not having any involvement with this worthy charity. Companies could salvage items from tear downs and take MASSIVE write-offs on their corporate taxes, but instead, they have ZERO involvement at all. This video and tear down could’ve also been proactively engaged, in that very same way.
I know these operators and excavation companies geek out on trashing it and doing it quickly. They evaluate the quality of the job on how fast it gets done. Well, it has to be more than that in this day and age when resources are becoming more precious, and at times scarce.

DO NOT TRASH EVERYTHING!!!
Nah, with our new SCOTUS filled with corporate fascists, it's "drill baby drill" burn baby burn, which I fear is our fate now.
@@fubartotale3389 Unfortunately!
Nice job. The Chimneys had me worried but that was a good final collapse
You needed a flame thrower to get rid of smakes
I hate to see this house goo when i so desperarely need a place to live.snakes are no problem unless your married to one.......
40 mins in it was a sneaky good corner post holding it up :o) Just goes to show how a house that looks okay can be minging within the structure.
It does appear the larger portion of the house was old with plaster walls and that basement, but with the cost of anything these days, the windows, solid doors could have been salvaged by chance. It appears it was bug infested with moisture or termites as maybe the enticement for the snakes. That wood is not healthy looking in the old part of the house. I guess that house was a liability with the termite damage in that wood.
A larger and stronger machine would make demo a lot easier. Bigger is always better lol.
A dead snake is a good snake no matter what kind.
Those excavators are might machines they can tear down through everything, remember being trained on one in gravel pit good place to learn. Have fun with your demolition
I do not like snakes at all. 🐍🐍🐍🐍😂👍👍👍👍👍
Nope ropes
In my old neighborhood all the homes were new when I grew up there now they are 60 years old so they must be torn down,so the new buyer can't scream it needs updating and so the bank gets to yell back it's new and grab your ankles your gonna painfully pay for all new on the most expensive dirt in the state and their not sorry to be completely out of Vaseline. 1.4 million dollars today but 178,000 in 1970 now that's some profit for 1/2 acre of dirt. They tear down immaculately maintained homes there, and the work crews steal all the copper pipes and cast iron bath tubs, you get Chinese plastic for 1.4 million.....
I see all the people on there talking about saving windows and doors, they do know how much time it takes to uninstall one and then how long you have to store it to even sell it for maybe 50 bucks, if it’s good material and there is time then it could be salvaged but it’s not the demo contractors job. I asked the contractors of a demo job if I could salvage materials and was able to save some doors, railings and some trim work. It’s good when it can be salvaged but it’s cost prohibitive to do it when on a crunch to get the building down. That house was probably built circa 1850 or something around then. As much as I like old houses, that needed to go. The appearance on the outside is nice but I can see the rot in the joists and wall studs, and snake traps, you can also see the 30+ foot beam holding the span of the main house was sagging. House needed to go and most people saying save it either don’t see the problems or either don’t know how much it costs to rectify the problems, which costs more than starting from scratch
Your exactly right. It really wasn't worth saving, and it's not worth our time nor is it our job to tear it down bored by board
@@ongradeoperator7284 I don’t think people get that, they think it is easy, but then you have to meticulously take the trim off then the screws and hope you can get 50$. If they are like newly installed or installed in the last 10 years and are in good condition, maybe. But at that point it is stepping over dollars for Pennys. Minimum price for demolition seems to be 10-12k so making 500 bucks on top of it isn’t enticing for the effort and time. Glad the owners are going to build new, best way to go in that case although I hate old houses go, that was too far gone
liked the part when shot from a distance, and the knockdown, Fantastic 😊
I totally agree with you!!!
So, so many houses being torn down that could be used to house the sickening amount of homeless today....
GOD, I wish i was wealthy to do just that!!!
cool that's amazing
Must have been first time on an excavator.
How so?
How so he said I've been running an excavator for 30 years and I've never seen anybody operate one like that that's how so
@@kevintanner8536 lol useful
In my experience, it's always the operators that brag about how good they are, that aren't really that good.
If they don’t burn it,the snakes will stay.
You should absolutely burn the rubble rather
transport those snakes somewhere else to be someone else's problem. There have to be snake dens under and around this property. Fire is the best
Not sure I'd be wanting to individually remove windows and doors from a house that has snakes. And can you believe this house has no insulation?
My house has no insulation!! It's a 1990 and I grew up in it since new But still works fine!!
the snaked help keep the house warm :)
It is sad to see a historical timber frame house torn down, the house should have been preserved, by looking at the construction, this house was early 1800’s to mid 1800’s, or even possibly the late 1700’s, and I bet it was torn down without the approval of the state historical society. It would not surprise me the beams are not American Chestnut.
This house was worth preserving. It is a total shame a historical timber framed housed was demolished, and was not protected. Depending on the state, this video is evidence of a crime, if it was torn down without the approval, of the state historical society.
It wasn't a part of any historical society. The owners bought it and paid to have it torn down. It was rotten and not worth saving.
Haha 😄
Snakes were living in the walls, they had snake traps in every single room while living in it
@Rowena Marten Get a grip of yourself Karen.
Just watch it or move on! Take your rude comments with you!
You want to impress me put it back together!
Awesome video brother
I wonder if the snakes pack up and move to the house across the street. New home for them 😂🫣
The house looked like it was in good shape
Thats no demolition, thats just a wrecking spree..
Maybe the operator is just learning
@@rebagrogan1262 nope, the way he is wrecking that house, he would be thrown off basic training.. for starters the water pipes are still turned on and spraying water.. that in itself is dangerous, the man is a danger to a site.. fact. he wouldnt be on any of my yards any time soon for sure..
There's a sprinkler running off the meter to keep the dust down. The water is turned off, and we have all the permits. Don't worry.
@@ongradeoperator7284 lol, cool. im not worried, your not my problem, your someone elses. but your methods are very concerning, lol
In what way are they concerning?
House doesn't look in bad shape. Do we know why it's being torn down ?
The owners of the property bought it to build a new house on and they didn't want to fix it as a rental property.
That door and windows were perfectly fine someone could have used them, and I haven't seen any snakes yet.
Only reason I'm watching this is to see snakes that I haven't seen. Should of just let local fire department set fire to this house and use it as practice to put out fires.
He had Jimbo working all morning with the water hose just to knock the whole thing down at the end
Where is this house located?
nice job demolishing the house the amount of termite damage in the walls was pretty bad also /all the doors and windows are garbage and no one would want any of that trash glad you cleaned up the property and so are the neighbors/is someone thinks this was a nice house i would love to see what your house looks like
you probably live in the projects
@@timmurphy5137 - Must you snark?
Houses are easier to demo when their not already collapsed. Ya gotta munch them up pretty good to get close to max capacity on the trucks.
If that's the house I saw on tv, I wouldn't even be walking around it!!
House looked good on outside but you a see the rot on the inside of the walls not fake news saw snake in wall that was being torn down
I agree ..it would gave been nice if the fire dept was given thus house to either train and then did a controlled burn. But that just my thought
A lot of times it ends up being just as costly as normal demolition or more and it takes a lot longer to get permits to do that. You'll see firefighter training on city owned or county owned properties more then private owned properties.
Wasted fuel and time with back and forth. Don't think operator has much experience. A lot of wasted material. doors, windows, interior millwork and doors. Just tokk a house down and remove all windows good doors, heavy storm doors and a 3 year old hot water heater.. I don't like snakes either. Been good excercize for fire department.
You can get rid of snakes...must have been another reason
Wouldn’t setting a fire be better?? Might get rid of the snakes that I thankfully don’t see!!
Are there ever any snakes in the video?
Why was this house stripped an recycled before destroying it.windows storm doors looked knew ?
Why is this house being torn down ???
Does anyone know the story of this house and snakes ?
So sad it was a nice looking old farmhouse to bad it was being torn down hope the snake got out.
Cool but painfully slow even at 2x speed
Place looks like it was built in the 90s
Just because a building is old does not mean it should be saved. Old buildings are inefficient and expensive to remodel and maintain.
Can’t watch this operation, good luck, maybe finish next couple of days.
I cringe every time a rooky is in an excavator soooo slooooo losing money if this is a contract I've done this for 30 years that house should be down already but you still did a good job
Thanks... minis only go so fast I will say, we are working out way to a bigger machine!
Still did a good job with it
So sad .How did all this happen ?
What a waste to not remove the perfectly good windows and so on..
Says a snake house. I wouldn't go in there to salvage anything.
They where living in the house with snake traps in every room. It was disgusting
I think burning it would maybe kill off any remaining snacks. By just tearing it down, if they haul off the debris, they might be spreading snakes elsewhere. I still think they should burn all debris.
Snakes
It would make life a lot easier to burn it!
First time excavator operator?
Snakes aside, most everything I saw in the video was salvageable.
what kind of snakes are they.good or bad.
They had a few different kinds ranging in 2-5 feet. The walls where infested.
Call the local VFD have them do a training burn for their crews, it gets gone the VFD gets some training and all is good
You seem like you are enjoying hose wrecking Vedio
No snakes. No explosions. I am Dissapoint.
You didn’t watch it all. There are snakes.
@@bobbiemooser7417 Plz enlighten me? time stamps.
Someone DID found a ghost-snake at 24:25
But. No explosions.
We fully intend on tearing our house down. Its a 1967 house trailer thats been built on to. They used cheep materials on the addition. and it is infested with termites. Not worth the time and money to fix it.
Now I see why the roof leaks!
What kind of snakes?
Like really wtf is the sense in demolishing like this those windows n doors are still good n can be used by someone who really needs it
I still haven't seen any serpents
How come you couldn't get rid of the snakes.
The owners wanted the house gone to build a new house.
Discrace do you realize how many can't afford doors an windows an no salvage was done discusting.
Why was it torn down and y did they call it the Snake house?
Hey, wait..somebody's on the toilet still reading the Asbury Press!...
I Didn't See 1 Damb SNAKE!!!
At 24min 26 seconds
W by didnt they save those doors & windows .what a shame, the house looks good.
The owners bought the property to build a new house on, we get paid to take it down and don't have time to salvage anything.
@@ongradeoperator7284 seems you destroyed an environment laws that can be recycled and reusable. I recycling EVERYTHING no matter how so the owners said.
@@deadghost1964 he destroyed the snake's environment & this is a good thing
Id get somebody who was a little faster than this guy. holy crap grandma.
experience isnt the qualification to demo of any structure getting it done is all that matters besides he isnt using a machine that is 10 tons he is using a rental machine from the looks of it smaller and compact so not everyone can afford a 10 ton $2 million machine for such a small job
Thank you, a reasonable comment. Our biggest machine is a 308 and it takes no time to knock a house down. The time consuming part is loading trucks and hauling the materials away.
Why didn’t they take the windows, doors, anything salvageable?
We salvage the metal and copper, but windows and doors are too time consuming for us. And donation sights have a lot of rules on what they will take and not take.
Why is this guy so damn slow? The house should be 3/4 of the way destroyed! This is going to take all day
Took an hour haha. The time consuming part is loading it all out, the semi's round trip is over two hours.
i don`t think the operator knows what he is doing
What a waste 😕
save yourself the time...NO SNAKES
First timer ?
Did I miss something I didn’t see any snakes when they demolished the house.
how can I believe that there are snakes in the house unless you show me? Fake news boi.
Very immature control of the machine .A lot of good material distroyed .Why does he want it wet ?
some things are good when they are wet
Did they really demolish the house because of snakes?
No the owners bought the property to build on and did not want to restore this house. It needed a lot of work
Snake house???
They sure don't build em like they used 2& post beam jointery. They don't grow trees the way they used 2 either! Just sayin ,-)
Very true, we do keep a lot of the beams and repurpose them if they are in good shape. We got close to 20 off of this property.
This guy needs to watch LETSDIG18 on how to take down a house he is no good
How am I no good
House flippers main goal is to fill entire landfills with perfectly good material for money. Although this house was filled with garter snakes and the stench of them to my knowledge. I think this would qualify as breaking and entering in a sarcastic way.
The owners of the property bought it to build a new house and didn't want to deal with this one. They paid to tear it down.
@@ongradeoperator7284 Therein lies the problem. I know you were just doing your job, but resource collection would not hold up the process too long, at all. Gutters - salvageable. Windows and shams - salvageable. Doors - salvageable. Who knows what else could have been repurposed.
Well all I can say is the operator or the so-called operator needs a little bit of experience and it needs to shove the basement full of material so that he can grind away at it this operator will get himself in trouble sooner or later trying to undercut the roof the roof will be down on top of the boom and then you'll have to fix the boom and probably the machine very inexperienced operators are operators people on the sidelines are people on the sidelines that operator needs to be on the hose and sit on the machine after 55 years of demolition houses I know what I'm talking about and this ain't it have a nice day don't get anybody hurt while you're at it this guy is very nervous you can hear any voice especially when he has to take orders from the ground has to be a rented machine you can just tell how smooth he is not and doing his job not the smartest box of rocks on the truck
Ya I do this all time and haven't had any problems, are biggest machine is a 308, you just have to pay attention while you chip away under the roof then move around and push it over.
Machine operator is a whimp. The owner hired a little girl to do it. Must be getting paid by the hour.
I don’t see any snakes coming out.
This guy is on experience you can tell that's a brand new cat mini dozer so he must have rented it as much as time you took to do that much me and a 220 Volvo I'd had that whole house done in the time u took to do one room
Snakes were probably there to catch rats.
That CAT looks kinda weak. Should've gotten a bigger one!
I agree, but the biggest we have for now.
Should of got all recycling and reusable stuff out first very sad to see it all go to the dump. But this happens more than it should
We take out all scrap metal, copper, etc as we go. As well as save a lot of the old beams if they are in good condition.
Why is it called snake house
Because it's full of Giraffes. 😵💫
Oh what a smart guy you are.
All the best with your lousy filming and your terrible content
why didn't they let the fire dept burn it down?
That involves a lot of setup time in permits and stuff, as well as a manual labor crew to demo certain interior walls. It usually takes longer and is or is more expensive then a normal demo.
Fire departments usually burn city or county owned properties and not privately owned properties also.
Our local fire department did
DID NOT SEEM TO BE A BAD HOUSE AND BETTER THAN MINE !!
IF SNAKES ARE A PROBLEM FILL ALL WALLS WITH AN FOAM FILL!
WILL BE A BETTER INSULATED HOUSE IN THE END!!
ALSO COVER AND FILL HOLES IN THE FOUNDATION WITH FOAM AND METAL SHEETING!!
I would have loved to stripped the copper wire out of it
