You're right. We grew up in non english speaking countries listening to this songs. We only caught a word here and there but that didn't matter. The music was just amazing and we didn't care about the words too much. When I rediscovered this song recently I was like: what the heck are they saying, they didn't even bother to consult with an english speaking person before releasing the song. But I like the it nevertheless , the music is still beautiful and the connection to those past times is priceless.
