- Shoutout to discord user this_is_so_sad for the idea. He was trying some ai-mo philo into markets, and I thought it might be even better if you use zebasi, since they can get markets sooner and are a t0 tribe.
Finally a source of daily content of Polytopia. ❤❤
Nice strategy. Love watching your videos keep it up my guy 👍
loved the video❤ i really used to play a lot of politopya years ago but couldnt play the online, this is the first time i actually see a politopya video and i dont think it could have went better than this. i really think in gonna reinstall it
Nice strategy! I am also a big fan of mind benders. They ars sometimes so underrated and especially good against Cymanti.
Playing as polaris and freezing cymanti centipedes and using them is amazing.
Cym is actually one of the worse matchups for this strategy (if the cym player knows what they're doing.)
@sumguy8939 yeah. But me personally had a lot of success with this in online games. But I see where your coming from!
Genuinely I honestly think aquarion is now one of the most powerful tribes
Great content keep it up!
Great strategy, I love it when philosophy works out!
26:02 move the juggernaut to splash the raichi next to Zulazan, upgrade the defender raft to a rammer to kill the the 7 hp raichi, use the giant to kill the first raichi, then use the 7hp rammer to damage the centipede head once more to chan through it?
That was satisfying
Interesting and epic take on turtling. Good stuff.
Great idea. I wonder if someone has come up with an Aquarion meta-strategy yet? I've been trying with no luck so far.
When Elyrion Conti :hmm:
For the Algo!

Love mind benders and fast markets
I'm confused, why was it important to go philosophy first and then construction +market? Surely going directly for markets would be more efficient, unless I'm really underestimating just how much stars philosophy saves
You can get markets faster by beelining straight towards them instead of going philosophy, however you still need several techs AFTER you get markets, which is where philo really comes in handy. The techs you typically need include:
Hunting, organization, fishing, sailing, navigation (sometimes), ramming, aquatism, free spirit, chivalry, strategy, diplomacy (sometimes).
You also get the extra bonus of getting the altar of peace monument, which can be pretty nice as well.
@@JusteeniLingueeni thanks for the answer! I'll def give it a try
Greetings from México
I don't suppose you have a replay screenshot without the fog? I'm curious what Cymanti's opening looked like.
Great strat.
How well do you think this strategy would work against non-Cymanti players? You were slow to get on the water, which seems okay against Cymanti but if you were facing a different tribe...
You can place a bunch of ports and chuck a bunch of juggernauts in the water at once, ensuring that the opponent will be overwhelmed even if they already have a few bombers set up. Aquatism is also a nice way to turn the tides, since your opponent will likely have gotten it later since they invested so heavily in the water earlier.
I've never played like that. Might try it
Cymanti on large continents? 😅
I like playing against Muskenator but he is not the best sometimes.
I remember when you won against Dr.Mung. I would love to see you play against him
What if he was Elon musk?! It's the sort of name he'd come up with!
@williamrowe8387 haha, that would be hilarious
What's your favorite tribe? Based off starting techs and viability to smash early mid and late game.
Yoo justeeni the goat
HI
@JusteeniLingueeni HOWDY
i would like to see the same strategy against elyryion/imperius/Kickoo -
10:58 why did you border growth zulazan on turn 14?
it gets an extra farm for his market and a coast tile for another port if needed to get into the water
How does this differ from just going Ai-mo? Is the t0 start that critical?
that's actually me you're playng lol
Satisfying strategy to pull off. Unfortunately it probably only worked here because you were against cymanti. Any other tribe would've gotten a huge eco boost from the water and pinned you onto the land.
All the economy in the world won't help against battleships aimed at your ports
Edit: Getting border expansion on the top city might have been a misplay against cymanti. If they take that city it means they can create land bridges
The opponent would need a lot of battleships to be able to stop all the juggernauts that can be made, especially since they will have a defense boost from aquatism. Even 6 battleships (which costs 102 stars) wouldn't be close to enough, and there still exists the option to attack from land with knight spam if necessary
@JusteeniLingueeni True, it'd be really hard to stop you late game and hold down those ports. You were pretty vulnerable mid game tho. A concentrated attack could've pretty easily made a foothold. They were just too aggressive and didn't time their attack well
Hi. As the person that made this strategy (I am this_is_so_sad/OOOOOTS) I can attest to the fact of this strategy working better against normal tribes/ely than Cymanti.
Funnily enough, Cymanti philo rush into clatrus (Basically Cym markets) is another super dominant strategy on conti. In the endgame, Cymanti naval endgame generally dominates any normal tribe naval endgame as they are able to use troops like doomux/hexapods over water once they able to spam algae down with phychi/raychi/exida in rare cases. Algae are also rough terrain so you can't really use knights to kill the units that are on the algae. The algae can also destroy movement for your navy. The only thing that can really stop Cymanti even city endgame from just winning is if you stalemate via getting chiv to destroy algae and also using water temples/ports to prevent cym from spawning algae in your territory. To summarize: Against a good Cym player, you need to attack them before they can start spamming algae everywhere in order to win.
Personally I really don't understand how this idea of "cym navy weak" took hold. If the cym player plays well they have a very good shot at beating philo market rush with their own philo clatrus rush.
Against a normal tribe, a few bombers is not really a big problem. You should aim to get on the water at around T17-18 with around 5-6 juggs at once. If your opponent decides to go for naval dominance early they will not have the eco to have walls of bombers preventing from getting onto the water at that point. Those juggarnauts should lead the way to follow ups with Aquatism + rammers. This should let you take the water and eventually lead to you winning from market eco advantage and naval dominance. If you have a land bridge against your opponent this should be even stronger as a strat since you can take chiv and start spamming knights into your opponents.
Against Ely, the matchup is a little harder IMO. If Ely is able to stall with catapults on their main continent, this strat is boned. So your aim should be to start your jugg attack even earlier. If Ely has~ 35% of the cities on the map, they will be able to stall, get tons of eggs, get tons of fire dragons, and eventually take the water via fire dragons + defender/polytaur rammers.
Aqua is a bit of a wild card. I haven't played enough against Aqua to know what to do exactly but to summarize: Pufferfish are OP and archers are just dirt cheap scouts so you need to attack them before they can get lines and lines of puffers.
Polars is a pretty tough matchup also but the difficulty of this matchup is completely based on conti terrain gen lol.
@@merekcook573 Also a concentrated midgame attack usually can be stopped by placing down some catapults (if you're going math into markets) or some early giants (since by midgame having a ton of bombers to kill a giant that isn't adjacent to a water tile doesn't usually happen.) Even rider spam should do the trick tbh and you should 100% have those since you're going for markets, which require riding roads.
Yo Justeeni how would you buff/ rework the mind bender? The unit seems kind of useless rn
Honestly they don't need much imo. Just giving them some form of autoheal and possibly a unique ship variant (like how cloaks become dinghies) and they would be quite solid units.
@ w
This strategy might not work well against an aggressive kickoo or imperius player. Even polaris, it takes too long to get onto the water
I recently recorded some gameplay with this strategy against a very aggressive polaris. You can see how well this strategy holds up then :P
@JusteeniLingueeni where's the video?
@@eltonwild5648 Drops in a few days.
Is this Heal power new to mindbenders ???
no
Does the game have a 3 or 4 player free for all mode? Idk why but I would like to see it
I've been trying to get some good ffa footage, but most lobbies either take way to long to get started, or are filled with cheaters (it's extremely easy to cheat in ffas). One day I hope to get some quality ffa games though.
@@JusteeniLingueeni ah thats alright. Thx for the quick answer though I appreciate it
@@JusteeniLingueeni Can you expound more about the cheaters? Like how do they cheat and how do you know your opponent is cheating? I've played a couple of games where I suspected some kind of movement cheat but was not able to confirm it...
@@ar5288 The type of cheating that's common in ffas is where 1 person plays on multiple different accounts at once, using those accounts to destroy everyone else
Does this also work with Oumanji
Not really, although going for early markets is still a good strategy for Oumaji regardless.
@JusteeniLingueeni
Ports double the bonus you get from markets. You probably would've wanted to get ports a lot earlier if you knew that
This is no longer the case of v104 (about 7 months ago)
@JusteeniLingueeni I wasn't aware of that, thanks!
So much wasted resources
For the Algo!
