I'm sure the pipe bowl fragment is the result of a small spike being pierced through the soft clay while it's still in the mold the bowl was cut out first then the channel for the long mouthpiece was pierced through so what you're looking at is probably a thing rolled out seam of clay that's hardened like that in the bowl after whatever they used to pierce the hole was extracted
Hi Cleggy great video, regarding the clay pipe fragment, the pipe makers used a wire rod to form the stem bore starting at the mouthpiece end, pushing it through caused some of the clay to protrude into the bowl. keep the videos coming Cleggy.
Nice one Cleggy - and yes, def. agree that's a Roman brooch, (or child's fibula). To my eyes, the curve in the overall length is unmistakeable... 🥰 Well done matey!... Bobby 🐶
Maybe if you plant that brooch in the ground again it will grow into a bigger one. ;)
I've been told it might be a child's brooch
@fredfonebone5108 plant it again 🧐? Looks like a small fibula

I found a small fib like that once and was told that the Romans used them like safety pins on childs cloth nappies.
The second item you found looks like the inner part of a spark plug.
Wow, thanks
Nice lot of finds and even the little button is nicely marked. Great to watch you out there Cleggy 👍
