Got a GR Corolla a few months back. It is supremely fun, small, fun and did I mention, it's freakin' fun!!! Makes me feel like a kid again which is priceless.
@@nemesis9410 Markups are gone. You can typically find them for $500-$1,000 off. I believe markups are gone for Civic Type R's as well. That said the updated 2025 GR Corolla may have a markup but given the hype has died down, and more cars have come in, you should be able to find one at a discount. :)
@@TerryManitoba congratulations, that’s a sick ass car, idk if you plan on driving it in the winter but I tried winter driving my focus in our winters but it was too rough
@@blakesigfusson2989 I will drive the GR a bit on snow covered roads until they start laying down salt (I put on these "Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus" cuz they a bit better in cold & snow) I will revert to using the ST as a winter beater where I run studded ice tires.
An addition. Driving fun isn´t all about performance. An objectively slower car can be a hell of a lot more fun if you can actually rev out the motor on a normal road without killing yourself; and others. Super- and Hypercars are like Motorbikes now. 2secs on the gas and you´re 100km/h+ faster, (nearly) no matter the speed you were already going before. That´s cool on a race track with run off zones etc.. On alpine serpentines, or a German avenue with trees every 20 metres.. not so much.
Well pretty much all the examples you gave are the last of their kind from their respective brand and will be electric in the next gen, so i don’t think they will be replacing anything… 🤷♂️
@@KeltonKozlowski i don’t know about the corolla or the impreza, but honda and hyundai already said they won’t be making these cars again. In fact honda said the type r will be present in the ev era. Also the Elantra isn’t a hot hatch, the i30 is and they aren’t making them anymore.
It’s hard to say there’s some sort of “age of hot hatches” when there’s like what, 3 on the market? Golf, GR Corolla (thank god) and maybe Hyundai Veloster N? 2 of which are nearly impossible to get. This is barely a Bronze Age
I thought about the GLA45 and I probably should have included it. It just didn’t fit the theme as cleanly. Its a little too upmarket; hybrid, automatic, more expensive etc
I think the hot hatch concept is awesome. I only drive hatchbacks, and the rear seat on mine stays folded down at all times---I need that utility. It's all about fun + practicality
I agree with you 100% Proof is in the pudding as I actually made the transition. For 10 ish years I owned these three at the same time - Fiesta ST, a 993 & an '07 GT3. Covid Bubble prompted me to sell the 911s. Recently bought a '24 GRC Circuit edition. I love it. I will like it even more once I get used to driving the AWD at speed on gravel, snow and pavement in the twists - which will come👍 BTW - I may not have even considered the GR had I not owned my beloved ST,,, If the GR had only been FWD - I would NOT have even considered it! In general the GR is definitely more fun (when pushed) than my previous cars.
Absolutely, I just want to add that there's also cars like the GR 86 or MX-5 that are sports cars but are very simple and pure, not overridden with complexity and tech. But, I absolutely agree with you, I love Lamborghinis but let's be honest, I'll never get to that level, and that's fine, I am perfectly happy just owning a GR Corolla and/or GR 86 forever :) Long Live the Hot Hatch and also the Small, Affordable Sports Car.
Acura Integra Type S is what I got as soon as the birdies flew the nest. The torque! The speed! The Teslas I annoy when I come ripping past them! Hot hatches 4Lyfe!
The hothatch market replaced the sportscar market for more than a decade in South Africa . However the Hothatch market is dying this side as well . Only the VW GTi , R , S3 , RS3 , A45s , Honda Type R , i30N and The GR hatchbacks are left .
The Polo and Golf GTi and Golf R are the only ones that are popular , people dont even take the second look at other hothatches in South Africa . Which really sucks

Where tf did you get enough money for that? They’re so insanely marked up

I love hot hatches, the perfect blend of performance, practicality, and fuel efficiency. I’ll never sell my Focus RS
Wish they were still making the Focus RS
@@KeltonKozlowski the GR Corolla will be the next torch bearer, like the focus was to the evo
I have a '14 Fiesta ST from new. If I did not have the ST I "might" have bought an RS. But I recently acquired a GRC Circuit & I love it...

Bro this video was on point. I hope RUclips algorithm does its thing and this goes viral. I liked and subscribed.
I appreciate that! Trying my best to get this channel off the ground haha

Agreed
I just purchased a new Golf R Mk8 DSG, absolutely love the car!
Love the Golf R!
Great video on the H-Hatches. One car I never hear anyone talk about as a H-Hatch is the Mini Clubman JCW with all wheel drive and 310 HP 👊🏼
Good call
I only like hatchbacks and waggons. I love my 2007 A6 waggon.
Very classic design for that generation A6
@@KeltonKozlowski mine it's the 3.2 FSI S-Line, very few of those in N. America

I disagree, no indication as of now that the civic, corolla, impreza/wrx or elantra will be full electric next gen. Still lots of options

This was a great video🤝
Aye thank you 🙌

Thank you! New videos every Wednesday 🙌
Here for the algorithm
Aye thanks 🙌
I wish Nissan made a Sentra coupe with the Altima 2.5 liter engine.
If they could do that with a stick for under $25k I would be interested
Cheaper than a sports car and most importantly fun to drive on the interstate at the speed limit. What’s not to like?
I think everyone is starting to get tired of big ass vehicles in general
I would argue that hot hatches is actually a dying breed. there are fewer hot hatches for sale than 10 years ago
That’s true but I would argue there are significantly less sports cars vs 10 years ago too
yesss
Golf r comes along and blows it away. 😂
8:00 unpopular opinion, i like hybrid cars. i just wish they werent all "smart" cars now

No. The new 750s doesn't have hybrid. Poor information in thus video.
My first good car was a 1979 Honda Accord hatchback. It wasn’t a sports car, but it was fun.
Meanwhile, hot hatches can't compete with my C8...

Gr Corolla is fire and the golf
Electric cars are not taking over, by the way.
Wish we still had the Veloster N. It rips like the Elantra N, but has that rawness and playfulness from the wheelbase and subcompact coupe size.
Hatchbacks and wagons will forever be my favorite cars.
Agreed but also HP per liter is a useless stat
Agree just used it to catch attention tbh
Not sure of that, I love the 300+ WHP per litre my Golf R has!
