  • Few child stars have ever been bigger than Jonathan Taylor Thomas was in the '90s. Between voicing Simba in "The Lion King" and starring in "Home Improvement," "JTT," as he was affectionately known, was everywhere. But then, he more or less disappeared from Hollywood completely. Barring the occasional cameo in another Tim Allen sitcom and some minor movie and television roles, Thomas seems to have stepped away from the camera completely. If you've been wondering what happened to the kid who starred in "Man of the House" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas," we've got you covered. Here's why Hollywood stopped casting Jonathan Taylor Thomas.

      Agreed. He was SO high in demand and sought after in the 90s. He was plastered all over the bedroom walls of teenage girls all over the world (mine included). He worked harder as a preteen and teen than most adults will ever work in their entire lives. I can't even begin to imagine balancing such a demanding full-time job where you're constantly in the spotlight while simultaneously having to keep up with your schoolwork, memorize and practice your lines, and then go shoot an entire episode of Home Improvement with a migraine headache. As much as I love Tim, he was extremely selfish and ignorant for getting so mad at Jonathan for leaving. Tim took Jonathan's departure very personally, when it had NOTHING to do with him or any of the other cast members. This was about what was best for Jonathan at the time. He was SO burnt out from acting and it had gotten to the point where it was affecting his mental and physical health. He literally spent almost his entire youth in the spotlight and was never able to be a "normal" kid. He was constantly in such high demand in the 90s for movies, TV shows, etc. I can't imagine how he managed to keep up with all of his schoolwork while simultaneously having to memorize and rehearse his lines for the show and then go film an entire episode with a migraine from all the stress he was under. He was WAY too young for that kind of stress, but he pushed through and got it done for as long as he could. He obviously did well enough in school seeing how he was able to get into Harvard. Huge props to him and shame on anyone who gave him crap for leaving the show.

    He definitely made the right choice. He was clearly well past the point of burnout. He was so high in demand and sought after throughout the 90s and he spent nearly his entire childhood working harder than most adults will ever work in their entire lives. So many child actors from the 80s and 90s who earned fame at a very young age went down very dark paths as they got older. Sadly, many of them are no longer with us as a result. I'm glad that Jonathan was wise enough to be able to recognize that he needed to get out of the spotlight and just live a normal life for once. I was a little disappointed that he didn't at least make an appearance for the series finale of Home Improvement, but I totally understand why he didn't. @ 3:34 his costar is the late Brad Renfro who died of acute heroin and morphine intoxication, January 15, 2008 (aged 25). I wonder if this channel specifically chose that scene to then mention at 4:18 his comment about winding up in an "early grave..."

    I wonder though if he really knew the difference between a headache and a migraine . I suffer from spine problems and I know pain. I deal w it daily . I’ve only had 6 or 8 actual migraines in my life , and not for a long while now thankfully, and it completely shut me down. I vomited a lot and couldn’t open my eyes for any reason at all. It made me realize that all those times I would be at work or somewhere and hear someone say they had a migraine that maybe they just had a bad headache . They are definitely two different things . I don’t see a twelve year old performing anything but bed rest and holding a vomit bucket . I know I couldn’t when I was in my 20’s and up to my min thirties

      Even if he didn’t know the difference, I’m pretty sure he had doctors on and off set if anything happened. I don’t remember the show after all this time. Maybe he missed chunks of scenes or episodes? IDK. I am sorry that you had to deal with all the pain in your life. I’m happy things got better for you! ❤️

    • @darko7743
      @darko7743 3 года назад +2

      If he is rich, then good for him for leaving the Hollywood life. That proves he wasn’t in it for the money. The small “indie” roles he sought don’t pay nearly as much as his sitcom days. The fact that he went back to school and did what he wanted not what he thought he had to do makes Jonathan Taylor Thomas a good person in my book.
