From what I heard, this new version of the 2017 Sonic.exe is less of a malicious killer and instead wants to play games.
On the other hand, EXE/Faker follows the old 2017 X in terms of plot and what he does.

This Sonic.exe is literally almost the same as Og EXE but with a different personality and with other purposes, in reality he believes that he is the real Sonic, and he thinks that what he does is good, He just has fun playing with his victims without knowing what is wrong, even in the original story Tom mocks him by saying that he thinks he thinks he is Sonic, so he should prove to be quick to catch him before he commits suicide

It’s funny how all of the teasers for 2017 X show him only with cream probably because she is the only one in the sally exe trio with a spirit name being alive like how tails is Alan knuckles and eggman are Dave and Paul
In the EXE story (2017), he only interacts with Tails who ends up killed, that is why Subterfuge is canon, this song is not, but there is also the possibility of interacting with other characters since the game is based on Sonic 2006, there is even a song against Blaze
