The song was first released on October 1, 2020 to celebrate my 25th Cancerversary! Now I'm releasing the first music video to celebrate 27 years cancer-free on October 1, 2022-just a little belated! But in my world, there’s no expiration on celebration! I'm so grateful and it still blows my mind. 🙏💖
Life is Beautiful to Me is all about celebrating life and finding the beauty in it, everyday. Crazy stuff can happen in life-cancer, losing loved ones, pandemics-but we still have the power to choose how we see life and how we live it every day. We can seek out the beauty that’s all around us and choose gratitude-not to deny that challenges or difficulties exist-but to deny their power over us.🌟
In a way, this video is actually a happy accident! I took the online non-linear/video editing class at San Diego City College and the first assignment was to make a music video. Since I’d wanted one for this song but couldn’t afford a professional production, it seemed like a good fit.
One of the requirements of my assignment was to go wild with the video transitions-and I did! There are lots of fun and crazy ones-remember barn doors?-but they all add to the celebration!
Creating this video took many long hours and tons of work, as I Iearned some of the ins and outs of video production in Adobe Premiere-but I really enjoyed telling the story of the song in a visual way. I also added Closed Captioning here, so even if you’re deaf or hard of hearing, you can still enjoy the video and the essence of the song itself.
This music video is a combination of my own photos and videos, plus some from free stock sources, with a mixture of higher to lower resolutions. These, along with the many non-standard transitions, are all intentional-in the spirit of fun, seeking out beauty, celebrating life, choosing gratitude, and joyfully living life to its fullest! 💖
