GV what a beautiful place! Ty for taking the time to share. The mausoleum is absolutely stunning. I have never seen anything like it. Outstanding job and find
That tree is definitely over 200 years old, I paused it to count the rings, and there are so many I gave up and its hard to see on video but definitely over 200.
I do like the countryside graveyards. The grave with the arch over it is really lovely. The mausoleums are nice if looked after well, but once the relatives pass they often go to pot.Enjoyed the content GV 😊 xxx
Great Video thank you for making it GV that storm must have been something else good thing the coffins didn't pop out of the ground that happened in the hurricane in Louisiana the air in the coffins
That headstone 🪦 with the wings, one on each side was lovely. Sad that they don’t have anyone to restore those stones as they once were. The one with the dove on the top was nicely done, too. They really need to do restorative upkeep there! 😢💚💚💚
Lovely cemetery. Thanks for taking us. I was thinking about the headstone that was underneath that huge tree would be a confortable place for the grave. Now the tree is gone. The family plot was as Sue would say, just gorgeous. Bye for now.
Nice to see thos slate plaques on that mausoleum. They seem to hold up better than many othey types. Nice to see the ironwork still standing. Pl is not too far gone. Just needs a little TLC. Looks like you had a cool great day for this tour.
That was a good video, I enjoyed it. That was a nice cemetery. The mausoleum setting and entrance was really nice. It's very impressive. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next post. Take care.
The shield with the cross carved on it is the heraldic device of the House of De BURGH, founded in the 12th century. The Thomas Burgh you mention here, died 1810, was an Irish politician and MP. You've caused me to go down a right rabbit hole here, GV. Curiosity klld the cat! .. but net ne! 😊
What a peaceful looking cemetary. I will update my membership when I get my check. Had a hard month. The church is exquisite just gorgeous for being so old. A lovely video . Many passed close to the date on the Parrish. Except for the newer ones. Appreciate the walk and your time.❤😊
This is a most beautiful place. I get why you like the entrance so much. It's gorgeous. I love things in those ornate styles that you only find in the older graves and mausoleums. I hope those old stones get set up again after the trees are cut down. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Let's hope they restore the grave of Alice Anne, though it seems they may have already begun restoring the graveyard somewhat. The mausoleum entrance at 9:07 looked as though you had stepped back in time. SO pretty. And the epitaphs SO beautiful. Thanks for taking us there GV 🙏Cheers ❤xx Teresa ~ 🇦🇺❤
Hi Cathal, that tree is probably over 100 years old. Of interest to me inside that open masoleum, with the beautiful entrance was the surname Seton or Seaton. It just so happens in the County in Maryland in which I live is: Sister Elizabeth Ann Seton, often called "Mother Seton," was the first American-born citizen to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church; becoming a prominent figure in the early American Catholic community by founding the Sisters of Charity, the first American female religious order, which focused on establishing schools and caring for the poor. Every Catholic child in this county is taken to see the Sister Elizabeth Ann Seton Grotto about 25 miles north of where I live. It was quite the sensation back in the day when she became a Saint. ♥️☘️
Trees form one growth ring every year. Wider rings usually happen on years with more rain and narrow rings are dry years. Counting the rings gives you the trees years of age.
When you see damaged iron railings and tombstones, sometimes it is the result of a large tree or tree branch falling in the past. Not necessarily vandalism. That bent iron fence is an example. Also that tombstone on its side, probably a casualty of that large tree stump.
The mystery word on Harriet and Charlottes headstone was “benevolence” but I doubt there was any way to read it live, I had to scan back three times to figure it out and the words are almost always more readable in the video vs real life.
You certainly struck gold with that mausoleum, GV!! The Burgh/Downes family are very interesting! YOU-LESS-EEZ (Ulysses) de BURGH (the 'DE' was added to the surname, as his great grandfather Ulysses (Bishop of Ardagh) had the plain surname BURGH. This Ulysses Burgh, (2nd Baron Downes) was quite the parsonage! He fought in the Peninsula (Napoleonic) Wars being awarded several medals, was an MP, serving in the government. After his first wife died (they had 2 daughters) you read her plaque, he married a lady whose first name was Christophena - there's a name for a daughter of the hoity-toity, GV! Unfortunately, the Baronetcy died out with him, as he didn't have a male heir. EXCELLENT find, GV
Alice's tombstone was placed against the wall. Looks like tree cutting work is ongoing. I believe once all those branches are cleared her stone will be restore over the grave. Many of those stones you passed have been cleaned and repainted. They are doing a great job of removing those overgrown trees that are/were causing damages, such as the iron fencing. Did you notice the sad face on the surface of that tree trunk? That's actually interior rot caused by beetles' larvae.
Hi GV as promised here is what i found about the Earl of Desart First created in 1793 by Elizabeth 1 Home Desart Court Kilkenny the last Earl was the 5th Hamilton John Agmondesham Cuffe born 1848 died 1934 buried in Surrey England he had only daughters so the Barony is now extinct
I reckon that tree has to be at least 250 years old. Shame it just gets cut down in a matter of hours , what your thoughts on it Irish eyes? Also hoping someone fixes up that headstone that’s been flattened 🧚🏼♀️
The tree is old and very big the roots are destroying everything i'm sure those roots go deep into the body the ribs... Buy the way there is some guy who has a youtube channel and his job is digging graves finding the original occupant🙄⚰🪦 putting the bones in a cloth bag and prepare the grave for the next person.
Thanks
Thank you Angie ❤️
Awesome little walkabout GV. It was nice to see some "old" ones, and the Esqs plot is amazing! Thank you. Take care and keep warm, Deb of Oz, XXX

Euphremia was on that first headstone. What an unusual name!
It’s a shocking pity some one with an interest would clean them up , it wouldn’t take much , it’s very sad
Thanks for tour and it is terrible what weather can so.
Love the beautiful red doors!

Such beautiful remembrances on the tombstones. To be remembered like that is a true blessing.

Very beautiful and tranquil place, thank you 😊😊I like the old church, just a simple modest structure but very nice.
There are some charities that adopt a cemetery and they get volunteers to put the headstones back in place again.

So sad when young people die especially that 16 year old you just mentioned.
Trees form one growth ring every year. Wider rings usually happen on years with more rain and narrow rings are dry years. Counting the rings gives you the trees years of age.
So what do they do with the closed churches? It has a pretty red door. So many of the really old gravestones were truly works of art.
Nice place poor tree was definitely an old one

A proddy who has long since strayed from the path asks:
GV ...
What is the difference between the Church of Ireland, and the Catholic Church? 🤔
The Church if Ireland is both Catholic and Protestant, but it does not recognise the popes authority. It started as a branch of the Church of England.
Old and new graves here many graves damaged
Do you have earthquakes there? Something like that could tumble those stones. Beautiful church and area. Thanks
