      ONE recommended video on end screen! So obvious and yet... 😁
      I also noticed how much my watch time has increased recently with longer videos which I just naturally started making as I got looser with my scripting.. so I'm very glad you pointed that out as an actual strategy 😊

      Putting myself on video for the first time. I overthank so much and was so nervous wanting to be perfect it took days for me to finally be able to make something that was fine for youtube. Overthinking sucks! Don't do that!

    Thanks Vanessa. Another helpful video. I think my 'favourite' mistake from this list is giving up too soon. Learning to accept delayed gratification is key when it comes to building an audience (and it applies for many other things in life). Would you stop watering your new apple tree in the first 3 months because it hasn't grown fruits yet? Of course not! Keep watering your channel 😎🍎

    • @AritheCreator_
      @AritheCreator_ 2 года назад +4

      I love that apple analogy hahah, but yes most people today expect short term gratification because of the society we live in. If you can overcome that you're wayyyy ahead already. Although I will say, small "quick wins" really do keep you in momentum. For example my channel is still "small" but I stay motivated when I sell my $97 product or get an affiliate sign up

    Very helpful video, Vanessa! I've definitely been making the mistake of comparing myself to more established RUclipsrs. • @GAPCBlessed
    @GAPCBlessed Год назад +2

    Points on watch time are valid, with the one caveat being that new youtube creators are limited in relation to the amount of time that their initial videos can be. I would focus on creating batches of videos that are related then creating a playlist for each batch so that people can then go from Part 1 - 5 in a series format... Of course you will have some drop off across videos but that is a potential fix.

  • @MercadezMichelle

    I think the hardest thing for me is picking one niche ! I really believe it has held me back since I’ve been on RUclips since 2017 and my channel hasn’t grew as much as it probably could if I had just one niche.

      I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion for your channel. I would decrease the amount of text in some of your thumbnails, for example it's hard to read the "why you don't need more followers" video on mobile. The yellow is hard to read against the white and it appears very small on the phone. Just letting you know because I wouldn't want you to lose out on getting clicks on your videos. I wish you a ton of success 💖

    Omg you are the bomb!! And yes that deep link was definitely a gem 🙌🏽 I had been on RUclips years ago and stopped because I wasn’t batching my videos and it all became stressful with finding time to film and edit and stressing out about A niche .. Now I am ready to come back but I don’t want to make the same mistakes I made before and your videos have really been so helpful thank you so much!

    I love this! As a “newish” RUclipsr still learning the ropes I love looking back at creators videos that I enjoy now, back when they first started! Instead of feeling discouraged… I feel encouraged 🫶🏼

    Did you update the Notion Template at all? It looks different in the above video, I see carousels and more in the video example. Please advise. Thank you @vanessalau

    Thanks, LOVED the repurposing of videos and implemented this even before I finished your video!! This was all very useful. I'm a new creator and have discovered a few pitfalls and challenges already. But you've definitely clarified a lot of things, and given me some great ideas to try. ☺

    Wow!! I actually watched 34:09 mins of your full video ... some very powerful lesson how to hook your audience with not just a power pack information but also editing; the pace of your speech .. lot of things going on in this video .. i would definitely do a study on understanding exactly what and why I watched the full video coz some of the information u share are not new .. but yet I felt that I was hearing it for the first time.. Thank you .. some very helpful tips especially the linktwin information..I totally agree with your intro information .. I am experimenting with directly starting the video and cutting out the extra fluff...
