Also, I’m glad you didn’t hurt yourself too bad, wish the camera was recording and we could have seen the cartoon fall! Awesome job as always!

      Mark!!!!! Wanna know something horribly tragic? This truck hit an elk at 75mph during last summer. Because this is a contractors truck, I encouraged them to maintain it and I said I would do a year later follow on in December. Well…. It was still in the repair shop. I’m going to most likely reapply the coating. The entire front end was replaced and repainted. Bed got messed up too. Doors were off kilter. It messed it up.
      I was so pleased with how it turned out though back in the day.

    You nailed this! what do you use to polish the chrome trim and accents?

    • @P4SDetails
      @P4SDetails Год назад +2

      The trim was actually coated with the same graphene ceramic coating that I used on the paint. The cleaning process that I use pretty much cleans the chrome up right nice and doesn’t require much more effort. I’ve used a couple Mother’s products if I need to actually polish the chrome prior to protecting it. The ceramic coating lasts a really long time on paint, not nearly as long on trim. Usually I do a trim sealing touch up with maintenance washes down the road for my customers.

    What's your experience with Clay Mitts or Towels? Personally I get way way better results with an old school bar. I'm guessing if the vehicle is barely in need of claying, the towel would be OK but just hadn't performed well for me.

    • @P4SDetails
      @P4SDetails 2 года назад +2

      If I am doing paint correction, there is no way I would use a towel or mitt. I use a clay mitt when I am doing normal details for a few reasons: 1) Many uses out of one mitt 2) Less marring on the paint 3) If it drops you can rinse it off. That being said, the clay mitt never does as great of a job as a traditional clay. So yeah, totally agree. I use the hybrid approach. Mitt when I am just doing a normal detail, any paint correction and I will use traditional clay.

      Yes on the Torq10fx.
      3.5K to 4K RPM. Very light pressure while compounding. Gravity while polishing.

    Would you put it on the chrome pieces too?
    What about the glass?

    • @P4SDetails
      @P4SDetails 2 года назад +2

      Absolutely! I always do the trim pieces as the final step. The flashing time is different on the chrome trim and the chrome bumpers, so you have to adapt technique on the fly but it turns out great. The glass is covered at the end as well. On this truck the only thing I didn’t protect with the ceramic was the tunnel cover. The product is pretty expensive and it doesn’t bond with plastic like it does with clear coat. I used Ceratrim from The Last Coat on the tunnel cover.

    • @P4SDetails

      Trucks start at a grand. Always room to negotiate. If it’s brand new off the lot, and no paint correction is needed, that makes it cheaper.

    They gave me a gray border less grey lite plush towels instead of the suede wipe off towels you have I called them they said they can’t get the suede right now so they give you the grey microfiber towels as well as the white ones he said that the microfiber is actually better to wipe it with and they cost him more money sending those out what do you think about that I hope there at least as good this is my first graphene coating job awSome job on Audi and the Ram

      That’s sick on the towels. I really like the suede for leveling, but I get that they have to do things a certain way. I was excited they started putting the Graphene boost into the Graphene kits. Made my day.

      Ceramic coatings for a truck are around the $1K mark. Lots of paint correction usually sticks around there. Brand new with a one step is a little less.

    How many pads do you use per car? And you only use one polisher?

      I usually use two pads of each size for each step (two polish 5" / two compound 5"). I use the one Torq polisher with different backing plates for 5 and 3 inch. I have purchased a few other polishers and had some fail, so I am still trying to find some that are reliable. Thanks for watching.

    What’s so funny? JK I love your laugh. I didn’t know black paint was softer than other colors?

    • @P4SDetails
      @P4SDetails 2 года назад +4

      So I’ve never understood the hard paint/ soft paint origin, but what it breaks down to is soft paint = easily scratched and shows scratches, and hard paint = hard to scratch and shows scratches less. Black is notoriously a color that shows any defect and hence is “soft”.
      I am kind of excitable and certain projects get me giddy. When I start talking I just chuckle. Thanks for watching bru. I really appreciate it.
