I love the way Kenny just sat back and let Jr tell the story. Didn't interrupt him, didn't talk over him, just let him tell his story.
also loved the way Kenny said "thank you" when Dale said he'll tell him a story that he's never told anyone else. You can see it meant a lot to Kenny. Two good dudes.
Kenny can surely relate to this struggle, that’s why
Cause he's been there... It takes a racer to interview a racer.
Genuine. It takes a big man to admit these kinda things. Hats off to ya JR.
Thanks Kenny.
It's so nice to see the human side of everyone. I was never a fan of JR when he was racing, but listening to his podcast for years now he's made me a fan of him. Appreciate this Kenny ❤
I've always liked dale Jr.😊
God I love JR. A real national treasure. Thanks Kenny for this awesome story
JR is a treasure indeed. everything about him is so relatable can cool. love all his stories and his passion.
That story put a lump in my throat. Honest and raw, we’ve all been there at some point in our lives…
Only Herman could get this out of Jr.....
❤❤❤❤
I have a ton of respect for Jr. He is just a down to earth humble country boy. Got to love and respect that.
Dale is a good person,
That was an awesome for Dale to be able to open up like that. A national treasure....
I met Jr. at a Budwieser event at Fast Track driver school 1999. A sincerely wonderful person. He hasn't changed a bit other than getting more impressive with time.
Have always loved Dale Jr. So truly authentic
Love Dale Jr so much and for him to open up about that was powerful stuff. Makes him even more human. Such a great job Kenny Great job on this. God Bless
Concussions leave us different and that’s hard to get used to.
Heart breaking. I think racers have highs and lows . I think has always been great driver. But it's tough . You get beat down and. Your confidence takes it toll. He's human
what honesty in a racer.A great Man
Dale Jr is one of the best ever no matter what anyone says
I love these stories. You listen to them and you can feel ever bit of it.
Dale wants to win I cried when I couldn't fiscally guide elk hunts anymore its something you love to do and you put your all into it.
I have always been a Earnhardt fan. First Dale Sr and then when Dale Jr started in what is now Xfinity, I started pulling for him! He is so down to earth and really loves NASCAR and the history of Nascar and racing. This, in itself, is what made him deserving of the Nascar Hall of Fame status!! No other like him. Since he retired, I am now a Chase Elliott fan. I always liked his dad!!!
And that’s exactly how Dale does his interviews!! Admirable quality , both of them !! And that’s not Herman’s personality, he’s usually very very vocal, so you know, he was very conscious of what a moment this was !!
A person can only take so many bad days in a row before they crack.....part of life....🤷♂️👍
This is why we love him so real and honest!!
Yeah dale is a really genuine guy
I could see the empathy on your face, Kenny, and I love you for that, for letting Jr. share that. You both mean so much to the NASCAR community. And Dale Jr. trusting you enough to be that vulnerable is amazing. He’s an awesome human being and this was a special moment to be privy to. I don’t think Jr. will ever fully understand how much he means to so many of us. Thank you for sharing.
God bless you, Dale. I cried for you as a fan😢
Kenny this is one of many reasons you are loved and respected. Thank you for all the time you give with your whole heart and it is never about you. God bless you always.
First of all I want to say that I absolutely love your channel. I have what I can only call a odd connection with Dale Jr. I spent my entire life trying to make my father proud of. I raced dirt tracks like him hell I joined the USMC so he could not say I took the easy way out by joining the army… Hearing Dale speak about his father over the years I can really relate with him. That being said this really touched me. I think it really shows what a great person he has become over the years. He was always so great with his fans . Thank you for the work you put into your channel it’s amazing
At times the passion that one loves is so painful that it hurts of emotional release.
Thanks Kenny you are the bestb
What an incredibly honest and genuine outpouring of raw emotion Jr shares with a fellow racer and close friend. Kenny Wallace was the perfect sounding board for him to tell that story to, Kenny understands frustration and hardships that go along with racing. Healing of the spirit can only come once frustration and anger are dealt with
GOD BLESS YOU DALE
Now that’s a winner
That is Raw and Real Emotion these are guys that Truly love the Sport and not just the Glitz and Glamor , that is why so many Love Dale and Dale Jr. Still and Always Will
I just realized I enjoy watching these types of video's, Kenny, Dirty Mo, Denny, heck even Hailie more than watching actual racing. I certainly spend more time doing it. Thank you sir!
Dale Jr so comfortable talking and sharing this very personal story with Kenny says all that needs to be said about their relationship
I didn't like Jr as race car driver.since he's retired, and I've listened to him,he's so authentic, and just speaks about everything. Thanks Kenny for sharing this
Kenny and Dale great guys
Thank you Dale jr
It not about just about him struggling with qualifying better, it about not having his Dad there to help him figure out why is struggling.. He needed his Dad .
The highs and lows of racing. The lows are much lower than the highs are high.
Kenny is one of the absolute best ever and Junior is right up there with him
two of the nicest guys in racing
Kenny, you have evolved into a fantastic interviewer, keep it up. Now, I have a request Ricky Rudd and Harry Gant if those relationships are there, I loved both those guys
I feel Jr. was always underrated. Was he better than the "stats" showed...I think and I wasn't a huge Jr. fan. I'm a way bigger fan today than when he was driving. I didn't dislike him then so everyone knows.
Good stuff, Kenny, thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your channel.
Listened to this episode a couple times now. It’s so genuine and this clip is where I’m at currently in the racing career. Taking the winter off to gather up mentally and give em hell next season.
JR. Just making me like him even more by opening up about his life . just to let us know he's a human being . just like us . with a few exceptions!
How can you not love DALE JR . and he got the wife he deserved also!!!!!!
I used to love when Junior had media availability at Texas Motor Speedway, whether it was pre-race or post-race because he was the best interview in the garage. A lot of drivers would be understandably impatient to get to their next thing, or to pack up and go home, but Dale Jr. always got more questions than the race winner and he answered them all thoroughly, openly, and honestly, whether it was about the car, his crew, or himself. They'd have to cut off questions for him because almost everyone in the MC had at least one question for him. If there was a driver waiting to go on after him, they got to sit for a minute and have a cold drink because they knew it would be a few minutes.
I always said his pressers were part interview, part history lesson, and part group therapy.
It sucked that HMS lost speed from 2015-2019. The end of Dale Jrs, Kahne, Gordon, and Johnson's career weren't prosperous as they shouldve been.
My guess is Jrs. subconscious was telling him "it's about to end, your career is coming to a close". Another example of why Dale Jr. is the best.
Dale, i always looked up to you. i would love to share a story with you one day.
The crew chief needs to recognize that stress and talk the driver off the ledge. LeTarte was the closest one to see it with Jr.
This is why EVERYONE loves Dale Jr. He’s human!
try living your life with that feeling
There isn’t a single person who doesn’t like Dale Jr.
Dale still won. He has an amazing wife
Dale we’re all human no matter how hard we try not to be and if she is somethings that we try to carry that we shouldn’t and after so long period of time it Hass to come out there’s just no getting around it praise Jesus I found him a long time ago when I’ve been on the road for a long time and I have to work through things like that all the time
Probably 2017 since Jr was competitive in 2015 and 2016.
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I dated a girl in South Carolina about 10 years ago who was an ex-girlfriend of Junior. She had not one bad thing to say about him. She said Junior and her father were the best men she had ever known. Her dad was a great man, so that said a lot.
We've all been there before as Jr. has...you feel like you're mediocre when in reality you're better than you think even though the results show different.
God has been my crew chief when I had no family or friends to talk to when I go into a slump.
Life has its ups and downs,,, besides only real men cry..................
Whats sad you never hear a word about Davey Allison The one that out Drove Earnhart More and Never played bumper car As well Nascar Always turned there heads When Earnhart did his bumper car tricks and know I wasn't the only one to see it So lets hear it for the 28 Car Davey Allison
Thank you for your reply Kenny and Yes Rusty was an Awsome Driver like yourself With the Earnharts ill keep my comments to myself other than I Can't stand Whiners And yes NASCAR with Ratings when they put the Toyotas in UGH As NASCAR use to be the True All American Sport A Jap junk car that Never had a V8 other than a Wimpy one in there trucks WoW thats when I walked Away from NASCAR As this is America Not Japan But Glad I taught my kids to Stay far Away from Japan junk Always Yes Kenny im American Proud And Yes Kenny I have a 93 Ford Ranger PU with 365000 Thousand miles 2 timming belts Normal maintenance No oil need between oil Changes Top that one Toyota and Not Rust in too Enough said for Now But Kenny Always be Proud And Hope you Drive American cars Also As thats the True Part of the Red White and Blue in What our for fathers gave us Thanks Again
😊
Probably because he was historically good at Richmond
That bights
No biggie! Hell. Herm is still crying for not winning a cup race!
Sounds exactly like a bad batting slump in baseball very frustrating , good news I don’t have 10 million fans analyzing it to cry over .
It seams like the world closing in on you nothing goes right and in your mind you know your a better driver than that I think you need to talk to someone the relatives that you raced in the past that was your crew chiefs I hate to say this jr you have the best racing equipment but ever since your dad's passing you never been the same I mean all the races you won after your dad's passing I think you had a blast but you seem your looking for him look at your dad when you won your 1st cup race he threw every 1 out of the way to get to you .he's there do you ever go out to vist his grave site and talk to him his soul in heaven and he's right there litioning to you maybe taking a break from your busy racing thing you do yes I think you and Amy should get away for a while and then have Kelly or who you have taken car of the to beautiful daughters you have and all 4 of you get the hell out of dodge for a while if I could take your dad's place and saved him I would .we will all be together in heaven someday read the Bible even in your pod cast I have seen some1 say or talk about your dad and I can see it your thinking of him .I don't blame you and your mother see am.like you I lost my mom and dad when people talk about them my mind goes to them hell with every thing but in the end we will all be together and it will be happy times ❤ my heart goes out for you .jr you need to take a break my brother .
Sounds like Jr made the right call to retire.
That's why I never believed he should have went to Hendrick Motorsports I feel like Hendrix just used him for the popularity. Hendricks priority was Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon not Dale Junior. I always hope that you would have joined Richard childress instead
Well, you always said you hated practice and testing so how do you expect to get better at qualifying? 🤔🤣
I loved the interview but cutting this as a individual video plus thumbnail feels kind of weird and wanting to get attention and views. Feels like of tone deaf to the emotion of that part in the story.
It’s one thing to try and succeed with little to no support but when you have everything teed up for you and you don’t perform that is a very hard pill to swallow. You can see this exact same sentiment with Bubba Wallace.
She helped him? Wow, normally wives do that, pretty decent since he’s not allowed to pass gas…
Dale if it was that big of an of a mindbender you would have remembered just saying 3 years is a big leap 😅😅😅😢😊
It was a straw
That will happen to the mentality ill or mentally weak of this world.
Because he was messing around with a married woman, probably messed with your mind in driving. You can't live in sin a be rewarded but it all has worked out now. I'm guilty of living in sin and expecting GOD'S blessings as well.
Awesome content Herm as usual
Mediocrity and Junior have always been a thing. Why would it affect him on that day of all days.
How Many Daytona 500's wins do You have," let alone any Wins Big Shot?
Jr loosing fan base time for pitty party to try and rebuild, but its to late for spoiled brat
Dale Jr went out and was competitive in the 2 races he ran this year and put it on NASCARs secondary series. He has talent
