- In this introductory video, we will show how to disassemble laptop Acer Aspire 5738.

How to (replace, remove, disconnect, install, upgrade, clean, apply):
0:11 - replacement battery module
1:29 - replacement main access panel
2:45 - replacement wi-fi
3:09 - replacement hard drive/ssd
6:29 - replacement keyboard
10:25 - disconnect screen
15:00 - replacement motherboard
16:20 - replacement fan and heatsink
17:06 - clean CPU/GPU and heatsink
18:00 - applying thermal grease/paste

Thanks a lot man!. But I would really appreciate if you could also show how to assemble the computer once you have cleaned the fan. I know it's pretty obvious, but it's a bit annoying that you have to skip the whole video backwards to do it very correctly. After spending 3-4 hours to disassemble and assemble the whole computer I finally managed to clean the inside. Obviously it have worked since the computer is faster and according to core temp. the temperature have decreased from ca. 70 Celsius to 30-40 Celsius, which is a decrease with 30-40 degrees which is pretty good.
Again thanks a lot. This helped me even if I didn't had the right tool. :P
PS! I highly recommend anyone to unscrew the screw around the cover of the fan and clean inside with a box with compressed air. This helps a lot. I had much dust inside which one couldn't clean by just spraying on the fan on the outside. :) That's a tip from me. :)
Another tip is if you go the cheap way, use the edge of a screw to get the white chips which is holding the white and the red cables (07:44).

What model version number is it (vga ati/amd)?
Along side with (vga_2 intel) gma 4500hd.

All is well, there is thermal issues with this laptop, graphic chip has to be reflowed, shouldn't you clean the fan?

I have those with the spinning top, metal handle (always swiping in my fingers and it hurts) and its a little blue box with a kit of those screwdrivers ...
There are smal magnets inside HDD 2.5 in drives, you kan use...
Is it possible to remove the cover without taking of the screw at the end of the L HDD cover, I'm servicing one, but the client rounded the screw now I can't take it off

Hi, I have one of these laptops but it was destroyed in a flood. However, I did manage to salvage the touch screen. I bought a LVDC driver board and the display is perfect. So I want to use it with my raspberry pi 3 and I want to be able to use the touchscreen function. Can anyone tell me how I can get the touchscreen to work? I assumed that it would just be a case of connecting the touchscreen to a usb cable and then plugging that into my RPI3 USB port but I can’t find the touchscreen connection. I’d appreciate any help from you. Thank you in advance.

Yes it is copper. You should put thermal grease.

@@kaanferikel yes using it now without batteries (the one in the motherboard and the one for the laptop). Laptop turns on automatically when plugged in and turns off as it should. At least I have pc to study. Ill take it to proper tech service once the virus is gone. The keyboard is also damaged its like crazy ghost, so I disconected it and use external keyboard

You can only use the processors of Core2Duo only like core2quad extreme
Does Acer 5738 supports 16gb ram? And i3 processor?

No. max 8gb ram (2x4gb ddr3). No for the i3 processor.

This is so old laptop so it is wrost in 2020 but it was best in 2010
