How exactly can a "user"/sys admin modify vfio parameters? Specifically how can an admin leverage vfio to allow unsupported configurations up to and including multiple GPUs (for display output), with each dedicated or passed through to a VM? Use case includes a server where I have 4 CPUs with each having a dedicated PCIe slot. Hardware physically supports each GPU mapped to each CPU, but of course all but 1 GPU is disabled somewhere in the chain between hardware capability and lspci (at the VM and host level(not visible in either)).
You're asking how vfio can expose devices that are not enumerated by the bare metal OS to a user/VM? Clearly there's a compatibility issue with your hardware configuration that needs to be resolved before we can even begin to discuss attaching vfio to those devices.
I did not know how vfio and igb work although I use those drivers every day. This preso answers many of my questions. Thanks!
This is what I call the art of making great presentations! Hats off to you Alex!
VFIO provides very nice features for building userspace driver (like UNVMe). Thanks Alex!
Very nice presentation thanks very much!
but can you run vfio passthrough with memballoon

Keeling Shoals
alex is brilliant, but the video editor, so annoying with zooming in and out of the slide constantly. just leave it alone!
This is driving me absolutely nuts.
