Rick mentioned in his first book that when he was really young and first joined up with Zoot, that Bon Scott was singing with this other club band, and it wouldn't be for several more years that some other guys would meet up with him and form the band we may have heard of, AC/DC.
@@stevecrocker6904 And of course, A/C formed without Bon. Dave Evans was their original lead singer. (Bon was an upgrade, obviously. No offense to Dave.)
Though I've been a fan of Springfield since I was, what, 12, I never knew he could wail like this on guitar. This is seriously Jimmy Page style stuff! Wow.
Not only is it Rick Springfield on guitar (a Gibson SG no less!), but also Beeb Birtles on bass. he would later form The Little River Band. Very psychedelic!
People don't know in the US that Rick was pretty much a "Guitar Hero" back Down Under! And though they were considered Pop they were pretty much a "Power Pop"/Hard Rock band!
Finnaly I get to hear what Zoot sounds like. Thanks for your links! Do you think I will be able to get their records from Records By Mail? Has any of their records been reissued on CD's?
Ben Goozner - Zoot Archeaology - a compilation is available on cd, 2 original albums of theirs have been re-released on vinyl only Zoot Out & Just Zoot
Saint Peter was crucified on an upside down cross as he felt not worthy to be crucified as his Lord was, Rick being a believer at the time may have played into that thought. I wonder if it was a pink cross as they were famous for their pink suits which Rick never liked.
Didn't they also dye their afghan dog pink? They were beautiful, beautiful boys. I was absolutely obsessed with Rick Springfield every waking moment of my teen years. Watching him play guitar now in my 60s brings back memories from my youth - feelings long forgotten. Thank you forr this
Daryl Cotton was a real dag the way he moved and pulled faces, I can't see how any of the women would be there for him at concerts when Springfield was there.
this song still kicks ass in 2022 !!
Dont take zoot lightly. They kick ass! Their sound has that raw edginess to it but that's what I like.
Was so glad back in early 70's i got to see Zoot live back in Adelaide 😊
Amazing to see Rick being basically the Aussie Jimmy Paige when his solo "career" was so sugar-pop.
Ricks songs were never Sugar Pop, just got labeled that way by his first managers.
Acdc get yer facts straight, he was straight up Alberts rock
My fave band in the 60’s and early 70’s
I wasn't in Australia at this time and only just come across them looking for music.
Pity I missed them they are good
Loved Zoot!! This brings back great memories!
I was almost 3 months away from being born when this aired----so cool. Thanks for posting! :-)
Bass player is Beeb Birtles - co-founder of Little River Band.

Scott was with the "la-de-das"

Go to the Shorrock Birtles Goble website and you will find a Beebs interview from 2019 where he talks about a recent release of all ZOOTS best stuff.
