    I liked the underwater shots. One thing I’ve learned watching these videos is that once the bow goes under, the rest of the ship is going to sink fast.

    • @Pandadude-eg9li
      @Pandadude-eg9li 2 года назад +10

      This is most likely due to water being now able to enter from the top, and the ship being forced down upon by water too.

      Yeah, that’s when I know to panic.
      Like, a ship is very low in the water. Fine. As long as no portholes are open, fine. We could just have breached a compartment or seven but as long as it’s not eight and listing past 35 we’re fine.
      But water floods the well deck?
      *Ohhhh no. Panic mode. She’s sinking. Well deck goes, she goes.*

    The most fascinating part about this for me is how your Titanic developed a list as she took on water before righting herself before the final plunge. And that around the bridge level did her sinking rapidly accelerate. For a ship made of cardboard, this is quite impressive. The real Titanic did indeed develop a 5-degree list to starboard when the waters first began flooding the compartments, which eventually became a list to port before righting herself before the final plunge.

  • @kepler186f4
    @kepler186f4 2 года назад +24

    I saw a film you did of two ships under construction, was there a follow up video of them sinking?
    I'm always amazed at your skill in building the models, choreographing and filming of the disaster.
    Do you use interior bulkheads to get the timing and angles just so?

    • @thoji215
      @thoji215 2 года назад +4

      Yes because without bulkheads the ship will have only a 1 or 2 degree forward list. The stern would also rise very slowly until the final plunge. When the final plunge begins, water would start moving forward as the bow goes down, giving the stern more buoyancy than before, causing it to rise.

    • @cowgirlchloe
      @cowgirlchloe  2 года назад +9

    Passengers: 365
    Deaths: 296
    Survivors: 69
    This sinking was a deliberate event made by 3 of the builders (Jim Walker, Adam Peterson and Julia Thompson). Although Julia Thompson overslept and missed the ship and was unable to board the ship. Despite having a ticket. Communications failed 3 minutes before the sinking which made rescue 10x more difficult. It took 2 days for the survivors to reach land (they eventually reached a dock in Jamaica), 4 days for the world to find out about the tragic event and 10 days to find out that it was all planned out. Julia was later arrested for her actions of the tragic event and pleaded guilty. She was sentenced to life in prison. The owners of the "Cardboard Titanic" were very disturbed by what had happened that they decided to play £100,000 in compensation to the families of the victims as an apology that this event had happened. The Owners were arrested for letting this event happen and was sentenced to 5 years in prison for involuntary murder. After 1 and a half years spent in there, they were bailed out and continued to work as ship owners. A maximum security background check was put in place so that no one with a criminal record could enter any type of public transport. And more security guards were placed around the docks for extra precaution. The owners continued their job for another 25 years before they retired and live the rest of their lives unemployed.
    A search party was deployed 2 days after the sinking and found the wreck 1 and a half year later. When the wreck was found it was a gaping hole in the middle of it. It caused conspiracy theories that there was an explosion or something big was inside the ship when it sank. But it was later discovered that the temperature of the water was causing the wreck to disintegrate. When this was found out they predicted it would take between 10-15 years for the whole wreck to disappear. The President of America refused to revive the wreckage. It was left there and it was guarded and well looked after until the day it disappeared. They allowed people to visit the wreckage via a submarine and over 350 people a day go and visit the wreckage.
    On June 25th 2044, the ship disappeared.

    To think that water was probably close to the temperature the real Titanic plunged into. I sure as hell wouldn't want to dip my toes in that, let alone my whole body. It's also astounding how like the real Titanic it started off slowly, but once the flooding crosses that balance of buoyancy it went down so rapidly.

    I went to the Titanic museum and Wonderworks at Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Both of which gives you the chance to stick your hand in water that is literally the same degrees as the ocean was the night the ship sank. I am telling you this, you can stick your hand in ice water and it wouldn't even compare to how cold it was that night
    At Wonderworks they have a timer for you to see how long you can stand it. Within 30 seconds I could feel my heartbeat pulsating through my hand. The rest of the time we were there my skin felt cool and even the bone in my hand felt cold
