    Sorry but Roberto Baggio is the greatest and most talented Italian player of all time.
    In World Cup 94, Maldini was definitely highly rated but to be Frank EVERYONE was looking at Roberto Baggio. Everyone was talking about Baggio or Romario and that’s it. These are the worlds greatest
    Footballers at that time and Baggio for me, way ahead of Maldini in terms of talent and Maldini is an all time great as well.
    That tells you how high the bar is set for Roberto Baggio. He’s the best Italian player bar none.
    Romario at least had strike partner Bebeto who was also almost as amazing as Romario.
    Baggio was alone, in his own lofty ability to carry Italy on his own in the attacking department and that speaks volumes that he could get Italy so far

    2 of the top 3, Del Piero and Baggio, both had to reinvent their game very early in their professional careers because of injury. Got to wonder what might have been if they didn't have to make these adjustments.

All stronger players than him. And I'm leaving out wingers/fantasistas like Conti, Causio, Corso, Donadoni but that's the position in which Del Piero played the most after all, together with second striker position

    • @wolfpackpete6408
      @wolfpackpete6408 6 месяцев назад +1

      @carlosimotti3933 Del Piero wasn't the highest scoring striker ever, although he is Juventus' top scorer. He was more the creator or link play forward while Trezeguet or Ibrahimović were target man. Del Piero was a class act! Since this is fantasy we're to imagine having each player at their peak, or even combination of various roles or styles they adopted over their career. Not whine about what they were like after they'd lost their peak - which all players will eventually

Baloncieri, Combi, Monzeglio, Allemandi, Ferrari, Libonatti, Monti, Orsi, Guaita (last 4 players were Argentinians, however they played for Italy), Meazza, Schiavio, Piola, Rava, Foni, Collaussi, Olivieri, Andreolo (he was from Uruguay, but he played for Italy), Ferraris, V. Mazzola, Boniperti, Carapallese, Amadei, Borel, Montouri, C. Maldini, Trapattoni, Bulgarelli, Domenghini, Rivera, Facchetti, S. Mazzola, Riva, Burgnich, Albertosi, Corso, Boninsegna, Prati, Anastasi, Chinaglia, Zoff, Capello, Causio, Bettega, Gentile, Scirea, Cabrini, Collovati, Antognoni, Conti, Graziani, P. Baresi, Costacurta, De Napoli, Carnevale, Giordano, Francini, Massaro, Zenga, Vialli, Pagliuca, Mancini, Ancelotti, Donadoni, Giannini, P. Maldini, Schillaci, R. Baggio, Evani, Signori, Zola, Albertini, D. Baggio, Ferrara, Lentini, E. Chiesa, Toricelli, Simone, Tasotti, Toldo, Casiraghi, Ravanelli, Conte, Di Biagio, Di Livio, Vieri, Del Piero, Peruzzi, Panucci, Materazzi, F. It's over 120 players and I'm sure that I missed some of them... There were also Sivori, Schiaffino, Altafini and more players from other countries who played for Italy, however they played for Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil before they stared playing for Italy. Same as Monti and Libonatti in 20s and 30s of previous century...

    • @davidemaglio5745
      @davidemaglio5745 Год назад +1

      It's a great comment with a vast knowledge of the history of the game.
      But as I replied to you under another video you can't include Orsi, nor Montuori, etc , ESPECIALLY if you decide to exclude Sivori, Schiaffino and Altafini, because the situation of all these players was the same.
      Actually for example Orsi was more successful in his national team than Sivori (he left it still very young). Indeed Orsi was the best player for Argentina in the Olympics in 1928.
      So it's best not to include players who became Italian later in life.
      Otherwise Di Stefano, Puskas and Kubala should be among the best Spanish players ever, because they acquired the Spanish citizenship.
      Btw fun fact: Di Stefano could have become Italian in the same vein of Schiaffino if he had played in the Italian league (they were more or less the same age and they both had Italian ancestors)

Anyway, yes, I will remove Orsi fromItaly players list and I'll put his name in Argentina best players list.

      I agree with your team in general. I was never a massive fan of Zenga because outside of a couple of years in the late 80's he wasn't better than Pagliuca, Toldo, Combi, Albertosi etc. De Rossi over Tardelli/Benetti/Bulgarelli is a no for me. He had a great career but his quality is slightly less. I see him and Bagni as similar quality players but de rossi more celebrated. Mario Bertini? Conti, Causio, Donadoni? Bulgarelli was the star of the italian natonal team and most influential player in the 60's. He must be in. Rossi wasn't a great player at all, he had a great tournament. Altobelli, Bettega, Anastasi were vastly better players. I suppose if we are talking Legacy, you have a point. Overall one of the better teams i've seen.

      @@Pro-qu8ko I think you are probably Italian, so I believe that your knowledge about players from Italy is bigger than my, that's why I respect your point. However, I think Paolo Rossi (RIP) was pretty good until 1980, after that he was great in Spain'82 and I'm pretty sure that Italy would not win World Cup without Rossis goals. Also he was very good in Argentina'78, he was 1982/1983 European Cup best scorer. In general, I agree that Rossi was not on greatest players of all times level, but he was Balon d'Or winner and by the way he made me crying in WC'82 semifinals vs Poland. Talking about Zenga - yes, he was good at the end of 80s and he had great defenders, really great defenders. You can put in his place any of goalkeepers you remind me. Same about De Rossi/Tardelli. After all you can see that my Dream Team is either offensive and that's why I have not found place for some midfielders...

    It's tough to have to exclude Cannavaro, Paolo Rossi and Totti, but I have to agree with this list. I feel bad, but narrowed to 10 this list is correct.

    Great stuff; didn't do the latest is greatest 👍🏾👍🏾
    One issue==> maldini is never a better defender than baresi. When baresi was playing he was Italy and Milan's outstanding defender (many occasions when maldini was on same pitch).

    A top 10 list is bound to be unfair. By the way, the number 1 player voted by Italian pundits and leading sport broadsheets like the Gazzetta dello Sport was Luigi Riva, in more than one occasion. European champion '68, runner up World Cup '70. 35 goals in 42 matches for Italy, that means an average of 5 goals each 6 games, which only the very best strikers in the world, of all time, have achieved. Anyway, each spot should have at least 4 or 5 players as joint 2nd, joint 3rd and so on to be much fairer.

    Your list is fine (There is no argument with the top 2 choices), however, a few HUGE names are missing such as Sandro Mazzolla, Marco Tardelli, Paolo Rossi, Roberto Bettegga, Gaetano Scirea, Giacinto Facchetti, Angelo Domenghini, and Roberto Boninsegna.
    Sandro Mazzolla in the 1960s and 1970s was on par only with Gianni Rivera and was truly a World Class Player.

    All the names on the list deserve to be there, but it's hard to narrow them down to ten... I feel players like Silvio Piola, Valentino Mazzola, Scirea, Totti (and also Sivori who was born in Argentina but played also for the italian national team as an "oriundo") and probably a few others I can't recall at the moment should be in there.

    For a channel is normal to nkt include francesco totti but i wanna say, as italian from rome (where totti play all his carreer) that he was incredible, at least at he same level of alexander del piero, he was physically strong, not so slow as lots of people think, very skilled and a great leader, i think baggio was a little better and maldini is just the perfect defender, but i will say that add totti as 3rd/4rth and delete the last player in the list is the right choice

      Facchetti was 3 in the 60s, so was Baresi in the late 80s or early 90s, german Schnellinger was 3rd in the early 60s as well. Beckenbauer was a defensive/central midfielder, it's a fairytale him being a libero

    I’m no expert, but I happen to know Paolo Rossi and Christian Vieri each scored nine World Cup goals. So shouldn’t they be on this list somewhere? Rossi, Vieri, and R. Baggio are in a three-way tie for Italy’s best ever in that category, as no Italian player ever accrued double-digit World Cup goals to their name.
    Now, “Career World Cup Goals” is obviously not the most foolproof of statistics (it’s sort of like “Number of Super Bowls Won”, for American football 🏈 players), but I would think the players with the most *ever* would probably have to land in the Top 10……. right?
