Sadly any car that has keyless entry is vulnerable to these types of thefts. And in a country that clearly doesn’t secure its borders and is not enforcing the laws properly it’s only going to get worse…. Key is do your best on your own security like goghst emobalisers trackers and so on.

Thanks for this Richard, my Velar has been upgraded and I use a faraday pouch religiously. Insurance wise it’s definitely a post code lottery, I live up North and my premium has gone down much too my surprise considering all the media hype.

If the security has been upgraded you don't need to use a Faraday pouch as the key can't apparently be cloned.

Had my rs5 stolen a few weeks ago, keys in a Faraday pouch, shit heads broke in the house while we were sleeping and took the keys. Not only do you need some kind of ghost alarm, steering locks and Faraday pouches, most importantly you need cameras with alerts and wired house alarms to wake you up! anti snap locks and handles, bollards or gates and be ready to risk more jail time than they'll get fighting off the 2 or 3 scum bags when they kick your door in because they aren't brave enough to come one on one and if they do get caught the justice system is a joke. Things we're forced to do to keep our family safe and what we work for, Good luck.

Update from the fishing lodge. What a lovely setting and certainly a great place to get away from it all. Cannot beat an afternoon at the lake to just relax and unwind. Keep up the good work on JLR. Have successfully helped 2 of my neighbours get their cars updated following the advice of your channel.

The manufacturers should stop giving 'comfort access' option.
If you are putting the key in a Faraday pouch, you still have to take the key out of the pouch to make comfort access work. This makes comfort access useless, as it defeats the purpose anyway. May as well just take the key out of your pocket and press the button to open and close the car.

    • @rafflesnh

Eh? You only need the faraday when storing the key indoors, to deter relay theft. When you need to drive the car, you will have to take your key with you to be able to unlock and start the car anyway. Nor will the faraday have any effect whatsoever on the BCM theft mode, which is what the JLR software security upgrades are intended to deter.

Hi Richard another informative video thanks for the updates. I contacted lr only last week to ask if they could update my 2016 rr they said they had no outstanding campaigns on my vehicle. Thankfully mine doesn’t have keyless, but it does have a ghost and it’s great 👍

Another useful update video Richard. With regards getting my car security upgraded (a 2021 vehicle bought late last year), my local LR dealer (same one as you I suspect in west Kent) are pretty useless. Rung several times in last 5-6 months.."computer says no" is their standard response to my questions of,..1) can I get it done, 2) when might my car be due to be done, 3) how far are LR down the list for my vehicle/post code etc, 4) how many cars have been done that need doing, 5) have you started old cars yet before you have finished the more "vulnerable recent" cars....The response is simply "there is no update instruction for your car on our computer and we know nothing more".... I find it staggering they can't even get an integrated updating system in place to help customers...I've got keyless go disabled and garaged every night etc etc but that not the point

A determined thief will be able to steal a car no matter what manufacturer security features it has on it. I think the best simple protection option is a small concealed fuel pump cut-out switch,. The car is going nowhere, unless the thief can find it.

If the thieves want the vehicle no matter what vehicle it is, the technology is online for them to take it.
Some alarm system that need to use a code or a dead man switch is the only thing that going to stop them driving off in the vehicle.
They are still targeting Land Rover be of the lack of parts available for them. But Ev’s are also being targeted now, an the thief of these is growing quickly, due to the cost of parts.

Cannot beat a Ghost 2 mated with a Scorpion S5, for the people who are concerned about threats to people for the secret code, leave the car in valet mode, only takes 5 second to do and it allows the car to start and drive but...but if it exceeds 31 mph it will revery back to full ghost mode after it stops. Thats where the scorpion comes in, first if the fob is not with the car when it sets off, the monitoring centre knows and rings you, after that the police are informed of the cars movements via a live stream. I have a 2023 BMW X3 and the fob goes to sleep (all BMW fobs) after 2 minutes of not being moved so nothing for the scum bags to read.
