I don't know who this Cthulhu fella is, but he has a pretty good taste in music!
I kid, I faintly know that he is some kind of monster?
***** My friend cthulu is a monster a myth created by a great writter HP Lovecraft the author of the book 'at the mountains of madness' and other fantastic books.
So I see. Lovecraft has the same facial expression in every single photograph taken of him, he also exhibited symptoms of Schizophrenia, do you suppose he really believed what he wrote?
***** it would have been sad if he didn't believe in it
How do you figure that? If I believed any of that I'd die of heebie jeebies
For a kid growing up in the 2000s with the original Tom and Jerry series and now a Lovecraft fan, 20s Jazz really is something special
It took me a while to make that connection back to my memories of Tom and Jerry. It's been so long
Came here for school project on the 20's. Found "Cthulhu Ambience Music". Not even mad.
Not even slightly insane?
oh, you will be..,,
Love it! But it's mostly 1930's. Here are the titles and some of the artists:
Hummin' to Myself - (written in 1932)
My Sin - (written in 1929)
By a Waterfall - (1933 from the film "Footlight Parade")
I'll Always Be in Love With You - sung by Belle Baker 1929
Love Me Tonight - sung by Annette Hanshaw 1932 (love her!)
Thanks for turning folks on to this amazing stuff!
Always something chilling about coming home to an empty house with old jazz playing somewhere in the background.... I love it
How often does that happen to you?
@@oxymoron02 you arent frequently in a large empty home with an old record player playing jazz
It's a nice idea. I live alone I should put a timer of some sort to start playing old jazz shortly before I am supposed to come. Gotta find a program on my pc to do it
It’s probably because the ghosts were old when they died and some old music just starts playing out of no where it’s creepy
every stage of bioshock
I first listened to this in Cannery Row while eating clam chowder and watching an ominous fog roll in from the harbor. I come back to video every now and then to remind me of my old hometown.
I'm only a few eons old but I love stone age music!! Nothing like the sound of two rocks banging against each other!
I see you were born in the wrong generation
Forgive me lord, for i have fallen for an e-girl
I hope you are thankful for stone age music. When I was born there was no music, the world was in black and white... and nothing existed. Do you know how long it took me to get some music ? Millions of billions of trillions of years! AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE MP3, FML OR EVEN STONE TABLETS! SUCH BLASPHEMY OF HUMANS NOT TO HAVE SOME STONE PLATE FOR ME
Ye
Ha. That new stuff is garbage. Don't talk to me until you listen to pre-historic acid puddles fizziling.
Come to the fabulous Gillman Hotel in wonderful Insmouth...a lovely sea food menu, and interesting locals...or if you prefer...take a glorious trip to the enchanting Dunwhich. And then there's the undiscovered colors from who knows where... not to mention the storm from beyond and the Dreams in The With House...or......something like that ;)
Hey dude nice advertisement for hell on earth after dark love that story.
Lovely insmouth ha Devils reef
_TripAdvisor reviews of the Gilman House, Paine St., Innsmouth, MA_
Robert Olmstead - "I did discover my family tree, but, several people tried to kill me, and I had to run across town with a map from a store clerk to not get MURDERED." - 2/5
Jack Walters - "There was no bolt on the door, the food was awful, and then I had to run through all the rooms, frightening an old woman, (Who looked like a fish), in the process, trying not to get shot by the locals." - 1/5
Lucas Mackay - "I....Don't want.......To talk." - 1/5
I've been stuck in Innsmouth for a while, its peaceful ambience has kept me enraptured. I think i have found my self in a new religion as well.
6 years on and I stumbled across this and used it in a Call of Cthulhu game. Humming to Myself played in a creepy mansion, the record starting by itself. I added some reverb and muted the track so it sounded like it was in another room a fair distance away. I also started it with a big record scratch. Thanks for the upload!
0:00 Humming to Myself
2:53 My Sin
5:58 By A Waterfall
9:29 I'll Always be in Love with You
11:40 Love Me Tonight
In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits Jazzing!
This was one of the first ambiance’s I got into on RUclips. What a glorious nostalgia trip.
Great to hear it! :D
im 2 years old and i love the 1920s music, at the very latest, im more into 1800's stuff
Wow you spell good for a 2 yr old!
jesse brown
From the primordial dawn of mam, I languish in nonexistence. What crude facsimile of comfort I can find lies in the mad, eternal cacophony of countless drums and flutes played by beasts which dance in the court of the Daemon Sultan.
I’m still fertilising my other half, and I’m more into classical 18th century music
Im just 72 hours on this world but I have already gone insane
I'm 147 years old and it warms my heart that kids these days like this kind of music. I knew Howard personally ( we used to go on Zeppelin rides and smoke opium together) and he hated Jazz. Said it was too ''ethnic'' for his tastes. He was more of a Wagner kind of guy. I still dig it though. Reminds me of a girl I used to date back in 1924. her name was Elsa, and she loved to dance. But I had to sacrifice her to an eldritch abomination so i could live for an unnaturally long time. C'est la vie. Oh, and *Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!*
Also great for running a Bioshock Infinite homebrew :D
Make sure you check out the other playlists then. :)
Ah, I was thinking about the first game while I was listening!
The music also reminds me of Bioshock ambient music and I love it. I wish this kind of music never faded away
I was just thinking that myself!
I'm never tired of this playlist. Love every song!
Thanks Emmy Malone - don't forget to check out the other jazz playlists on my channel. :)
This really helps when you're creating a homebrew Campaign.
I am oddly fond to 20's Jazz, its just great
Definitely playing this in my next call of cthulhu game
You are my favorite. I was looking for ambient jazz for my Call of Cthulhu game.
Ducktapeperson Check out the ambient mix playlist with SFX included - perfect for RPGing.
This... is actually rather interesting. Most people think of ambient music as background music, but few actually remember the music that would be playing at that particular period of time. Great selection, reminds me of the swingy tune called Smile at Me they made for the Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth game.
If someone were to ask me what my favorite music was, I would say classic rock because I've always said that. However, the older I get, the more I love this music. It reminds me of riding in the car with my grandfather. How wrong I was to dislike it back then. Cheers to you all and thanks for posting!
I remember those old Bugs/Tom and Jerry cartoons - back when you still had real ultra violence in cartoons. Now you only get it in Itchy and Scratchy.
Looked up 1920s jazz, this is what I was exactly looking for.
I am 21, it's 2013. It's Saturday midday, sunny. Humming to myself...
Great music, it reminds me of the old days when i was a young kid in the streets of Boston... the olde days ....
I can't get enough of this playlist. Great music, especially the Annette Hanshaw song. Thanks so much for posting this!
Two of my favorite things...Lovecraft and vintage music!!
Howard Phillips Lovecraft Cthulhu played jazz so beautifully.
So beautifully I went insa-- IÄ! IÄ! PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN! Where was I? Yes -- at how I went insane -- but I'm not insane -- yes I am -- I see it coming -- Yog-Sothoth save me -- the three-lobed burning eye --
Why do I feel nostalgia when I listen these song and look these picture ? I never lived in 1920
I love these four videos. For some reason they help me focus on work and tune out distractions. Just wanted to let you know I've been listening to them over and over! Thanks.
i was not born close to this time im from 1994 but gosh i love this music its so amazing nothing like todays music i can listen to this for hours and hours and not get tired of it im glad i got to fall in love with this type of music.
Some of this stuff crushes my heart.
Listened to this on my way to play some CoC and this was just perfect for getting me in the mood. Now time to try and not day.
A beauty song shall be heard, the crows shall send all the messages to the other who haven't heard this music...
most gangster fuckin tracks i ever herd. im thugggin to this as we speak throwin sets and bangn jhhhhhhhhhhhhhhu hurd
damn dawg
They were real gangster back then, "see!"
True, but what this soundtrack is truly about (the Cthulhu Mythos) is something far, far more nefarious and dangerous than gangs and mobs.
This is the trap music from 1920's
This is helping me with my writing. My book is set in the early 1920s. Feel as though I'm really in that era...great stuff :-)
You ever finish that book Paul?
same
These videos are great. Thanks for posting them. These songs are mostly from the early 30's with a few from the late 20's.
This reminds me way too much of the ending of the shining, and that makes it way more terrifying
Just saw that movie you are right
Thanks guys, I'm really happy with the responses these tracks have been getting and the number of hits is humbling. Cheers!
1920s jazz, best music ever...
If we don't bring Jazz back in 2020, I will be very disappointed.
fuck knows it will be a huge improvement to what we have now
YES!
Natalia they have swingwave now
it's on the way. check "Postmodern Jukebox". ;)
Actually, Smooth Jazz is highly popular right now.
A nice start to 2020.
Love the video and the music, admittedly the first thing that comes to mind is noir/detective, not HP Lovecraft but it works for all situations. Fantastic!
The 20s look like a magical time, so long as you had some money.
Gatsby Status lol
Hmm. Why does that sound so ... familiar?
This is more or less my audio background for my Cthulhu.
I just love to see my characters invest in bonds. As if they thought they could survive an Ancient One.
Papa Momotte "my Cthulhu" ????
DinamarcaBall_AIC_Omega Maybe he is talking about his Cthulhu RPG campaign
// I do have to say this is some pretty good music. I like to draw and listen to this type of music. Also, it is very calming genre of music. :)
This is also good to read Gravity's Rainbow! It balances the pain of the reading.
Awesome, I'm setting up for a Cthulhu game coming up soon and this, along with the other ambient stuff you posted is exactly what I've been looking for
i wish they still made music like this
SOOOO beautiful. Much respect to you for uploading this.
Great selection of songs.
Thank you so much, I'm about to run a Lovecraftian Horror RPG with my friends and they know I'm a big fan of cosmic horror but I never have just the right BGM to play!
What do you mean dude?
Love & Victory?
or should I say
_LoveCraft_ & Victory~
Listening to this in quarantine 2020💙
This is perfect for a horror film
I use these playlists for my tabletop horror roleplaying games :)

Very soothing compilation
Thanks for putting all of this together.
You're most welcome, more jazz playlists on the way soon, hopefully.
sounds like the background music from the tv series" Tom and Jerry"
What you think i dont know tom and jerry?
Pretty good refrence ngl
Wow this is exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks so much for compiling this!
I love this music, I love Lovecraft and his "Ctulhuverse" or "Yog-Sothothery" (as he would say himself), and I am currently preparing my own dark fantasy / decopunk novel set in 1920s-30s Scotland in the vein of Arthur Machen and Algie Blackwood - check out my concept website for more info: url available on kind request...
Tom & Jerry!!!
these songs take me back to my childhood!!!!
Beautiful Music
Strongly agree! Same applies to rhythm and blues and what they now call 'Modern R&B'...
Your Lovecraft videos are great. Thanks for them. I've been streaming these videos as I make my way through the new Arkham horror card game. The Fantasy Flight game is fantastic, and with your videos, I get completely immersed. Good stuff.
Brilliant to know, thanks mate! :)
Classy, unlike the period appropriate racism. Great collection btw!
most gorgeous combination.. thank you so much
It reminds me of old Bugs Bunny and other cartoons. They were still popular in the late eighties when I was a kid, and this type of music featured prominently.
Love it. Beautiful and original.
this is awesome! thank you!!!!
Great show!
I love the 1920's i like to see that era because a lot of music in that time were original and not crude.
¡¡¡Bravo!!!

I thought Fallout 3=1940s
What's HPL?
TheGunser98 Im p sure the music’s time range is from 30s - 50s
@@Mangost8en Howard Philips Lovecraft.
Call of Cthulhu: ~1925
Thank you for the upload :)
@paddirn Excellent, thanks for your comments - glad these are clicking with people and getting some use. :)
Thought the music is definitely of its time, its quality and appeal are timeless imho.
Thank you!
Question: What would the system for crediting you or using your music in a liveplay CoC game? Trying to put together some music options for a live stream!
You could say that I (Tristan Hall) assembled and mixed it, but I don't own the rights to any of the actual music, which is why RUclips advertises all over it. :)
This is one of the secrets I keep from my other friends. Gosh, people suck in middle school :(
Dude now you're a college grad. How does it feel?
I love this music
Hey me too! ;)
Nice!! I was looking for music, for a game of Arkham Horror. Lets just say this is perfect. Ill try to make a playlist with those song and some more darker music for ambiance. Thank you!
Thanks !
Welcome!
I see some of the posts on our Pax41 Music Time Machine channel make reference to Call of Cthulhu. I guess since the book is from 1926 that would be why the 1920s music on the channel is drawing attention from Call of Cthulhu followers.
