4-hour Zack Snyder sneers at 2.5-hour Zack Snyder. "That guy's a hack. I'm going to fix what he bastardized."

I've been listening to comedy podcasts - often 6+ hours a day - since 2005 and am here to report that when Devindra's _ON_ he's more hilarious than _a looooot_ of people who are professionally funny folks.

I've read that Snyder's favorite movie is "Excalibur", and I can totally see that in everything Snyder makes. I'd actually love to see him actually just DO his update of Excalibur. Other than that, he should just be a cinematographer for a better director.

    • @marcuscisneros8528

He should stick to doing direct adaptations
For me, Snyder has three tiers of quality
1 - Direct adaptations - Watchmen, DOD, owls and 300 are his best work
2 - existing IP adaptations - Man of steel, Batman, V, superman, ultimate edition and Justice league Snyder cut his next best batch
3 - original work, I love his concepts and visuals with the execution in story isn’t always there, sucker punch is my favorite out of this batch, it also includes rebel moon, and army of the dead

I don't think he should be cinematographer. I think his films got uglier when he became his own cinematographer. Larry Fong made his films look so much better than his Netflix films.

@@marcuscisneros8528 His visuals and concepts are very generic. It's stuff other have done before only better. He changes it a little to avoid a total crib.

He should just leave movies altogether and do videogames (still, he needs to be kept far away from any involvement on the story). However, I do recognize that does not make any financial sense for him and considering the state of the videogames industry, despite having had a great year in 2023, I wouldn't jump in there either.

This movie is way more Warhammer 40,000 than Star Wars. It may have started as a Star Wars idea but it clearly morphed. Honestly, the names of the Imperium, I mean Motherworld are pure Warhammer Latin. Ed Skrein is dressed like a Kommisar. The troopers look just like Imperial Guard.

I share Devindra's sentiments on this. (Referring to the individual with an Indian appearance.) Personally, I didn't enjoy the movie, but for those who did, good for you. I was hoping to find it entertaining, but it ended up being a bit boring for me.

Go watch (and learn the fun history of**) the 1980 film "Battle Beyond the Stars". I'm pretty sure THAT'S the actual story Zack Snyder heavily borrowed from/reimagined.
** Take special note of a young James Cameron's special effects work in this shameless Star Wars/Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven cash-in... that has some fun characters and is a fantastic conversation starter when looping in the background at a party :)

    What this movie NEEDS -
Gunnar has to show more him attracted to Kora.
Jimmy needs to be shown to be a protector of Veldt as well as Private Aris . Otherwise you bring Aris.
Sam I’m guessing could he Issa do more of her.
Tarak- should be readin he would be expected to ride the griffin . He’s speaking another language. Should be native to his planet.
Nemesis- sone kind of meeting before elevator as well as a reason nobody just shot the spider lady in the head.
Anything with Titus. If Titus barely gets anymore I think that’s ok. But the other things I see as a necessity.

But when I tell you that it was mind melting chore to watch this thing, I'm not kidding. I had fallen asleep in the middle of the movie and took me about another couple of days to muster the drive to watch the rest. It was so bad.

Jeff, another Snyderverse groupie😂. Snyder is a copy and paste MTV style music video visualist who can't write scripts worth a damn. Too much slo mo, dark cinematography filter palate with out of focus backgrounds. The only interesting character is hamming it up as a perverted space nazi. No character development squeezed into a 2plus hour film instead of it being a 8 episode series to flesh out the plot. Imagine Game of Thrones as a feature film. Disaster! After 20 minutes, I fell asleep it was soo boring. Netflix is doing the Justice League extended cut gimmick by releasing a extended cut to secure more subscribers from the Snyderverse cultists. Don't believe the hype already. To quote Admiral Akbar "Its a TRAP"😂

I wish you guys would stop interrupting and stepping on each other's thoughts. It's really frustrating for a newbie to try to listen to you. It's like you guys don't listen to each other, you're all so eager to jump in with your own thoughts. I think I would have enjoyed this; it sounds like, in the beginning at least, there was some difference of opinion, but then it just seemed to merge into chaos.

This has clear delineation of who to root for. Clearly can tell bad from good. Yes its super derivative. As long as its entertaining and has characters you care about and believable motivations it can be a good movie. This by far is way way better then Zack's superman and justice league movies. Those were soulless, dark and empty special effect spectacles. Rebel moon actually has a real narrative you want to follow and some heart and soul. Meaning it has some actual human characters you want to care about.
