Yes but his team in gold/silver isnt that good. You can defeat him with pokemons who are about 10 levels lower than his. Imagine red with a well balanced team...
I accendentally overleveled for his fight in Lets Go, my friend told me his mon are all like lvl 100 and i had a hard time getting past the master trainers. I was dissapointed because i was too high lvl and his theme didnt start to roll out. Would have loved 2 battle him in lets go with his theme, but Pokeli made some AWESOME mixes.
Doesn't anyone find it funny how out of all the playable trainers, Red doesn't smile (Apart from R/B/Y)

the real reason red doesn't speak is because he's pissed off about having to see all the new pokemon from johto that you have, it's not because he's badass, because in origins he went to finish of his pokedex and now has to see loads more.

@SMD sth91 There was actually a lore regarding having psychic connections with Pokemon where Trainer Yellow and Lance were said to have because of their origins, but that's way back in the old ass manga. Red didnt have the psychic powers to my knowledge though but I assume his silence is due to his mistrust in humans. Half the gym leaders were in league with team rocket and the Elite 4 were out to legit kill him.
And then he find out theres +600 pokemon to catch and constantly addin more.

You guys are treating Ash and Red as different characters, but I did research and found out that Red and Ash are game and anime counterparts of each other. So yeah, Red and Ash are the same character, just from different timelines.

This is my jam
i can listen to this song for 24 hours because it took me longer than that to beat Red first try yup lvl 50 - 60 vs lvl 77 - 88 gg
at one point in heartgold i trained my feraligator to level 100 and my ho-oh to 75 and my lugia to 70 and a golem (just to beat pikachu) to 70 and beat him with 4 pokemon
This battle should have been built up more. Its intense for the people that started with Red and Blue but for everyone else its just some guy on the top of frozen mountain with unfairly high level Pokemon.
And for somebody who started in X, if I could send my team and my X character to Johto, it'd be lv. 78-88 to lv. 100 (Red lv.78-88, me lv.100)
SO looking forward to fighting red in hgss. currently on second gym.
