YAY! Rhapsody, my all time favourite band! Thanks for doing this! This is one of their more "simple" songs, anthemic and with a catchy, uplifting chorus. If you check out other songs, you'll find these guys are really skilled. I'd suggest Unholy Warcry, Holy Thunderforce or Reign of Terror. There is a fantasy theme to their music, and this is actually from the second album of the first saga. So the first saga was across five albums. Then they did another saga covering five more albums, where they brought in Christopher Lee as the narrator. It is a fantasy world of their own making. The lyrics describe the saga, but there was also normally a few pages with each CD describing in more detail what was happening in the saga. Nowadays, there are two Rhapsody bands: Rhapsody of Fire, which only holds Alex Staropoli as original member, and Turilli/Lione Rhapsody, which has basically the rest of the original members. Until the split in two bands, all music was credited to Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli, and now after the split, it is pretty evident who brought which influences. I favor the Luca Turill half, with massive inspiration from classical music and very complex orchestral and vocal arrangements. Rhapsody of Fire nowadays are more traditional Power Metal with a symphonic twist to it I'd say.
I’ve been a fan of Rhapsody for 20 years. Their best albums are Rain of a thousand flames, Unholy Warcry, Power of the dragon flame and the Dark Secret (EP) with Christopher Lee narrating. The guitarist Luca Turilli is a virtuoso and had fantastic solos within other songs. This band is very good 🤘🤘
This is one of the best bands in the world IMO. There are so many great songs, but here on this album I would recommend the title track Symphony of Enchanted Lands.
Don't know the band enough but I love the album, this is how it starts with Epicus Furor and Emerald Sword. I think this is their signature song and part of a 5 album story.
I think the word you were looking for when you were going on about it not being a shanty, but the kind of song that brings everyone together is, "anthem"
This band was a huge part of my teenage years, ahah. Too cheesy for me now, so I can only take them in very small doses, but fascinating to hear someone completely new listen to them. Also, not that I blame someone who's never listened to them before for not knowing, they used to be called only Rhapsody back then. I don't even know how many splits and different lineups they've had since then, but this early period was the one when the founding members were all together still.
Honest review, liking it. I think symphony of Enchanted lands is their best record. Rhapsody is also huge in terms of storytelling. Their 1st 4 albums constitute an epic saga and emerald sword is a small quest in the world they created.
I really recommend song Power of the Dragonflame (Or the whole album if you will, its my favourite album of theirs, yea Rhapsody fans even better then Dawn of Victory, if DoV is 11/10 album, then PotD is 1'000'000/10 )
The guitarist, Luca Turilli, is actually a virtuoso, this song was good but uninteresting because this song is just their "Pull Me Under". Check out Holy Thunderforce, Rage of the Winter or Triumph Of My Magic Steel.
I think this is an awesome song, but I also agree with your reaction, it is not the most technically intricate song out there. I think you’ll enjoy The Dark Secret, a bit more crafty, equally epic.
I love this album. Beyond the gate of infinity is so epic!
Not my favourite album by them but it's one of their best
So much exelents songs
My favorites
Lord of the tunder
Wisdom of the kings

Just started listening and I’m excited. Loved this song including the intro. Looking forward to it. This was my first symphonic metal band ever.
A whole Rhapsody of emotions came to me now. So many good music done by this band...

8:17 for me, "March of the Swordsmaster" gives me more of a vibe like how you explained it which is another song by them

Noooo Rhapsody!!! What memories!!! :D
If you want to see the most symphonic phase of Rhapsody of Fire you should listen to The Wizard's Last Rhymes, is a masterpeace.

My favourite song of them is Queen Of The Dark Horizons, I just love it!
