- I am opening tons of 2021 Panini Donruss Optic Football Retail Blaster boxes in search of ultra-rare "Downtown!" SSPs for our next NFL sports card pack opening/break (episode 7)! Downtown cards are some of the most popular in the hobby, but are very hard to pull. Now that they have been added to retail, I am setting out to see exactly how tough it is to pull one of these super rare cards! I got a pack of optic recently. The cards are warped. Like they have a bend to them out of the pack. Is this okay grading wise?

Side note: mosaic retail for Genesis or Glass cards has felt harder than in years past

Kabooms are 1-80 boxes roughly so yea you would be there for a while

On a side note, I am a mod for a UFC groups on FB and we have ripped like 12 cases of UFC Optic Hobby without a single Downtown!!! And that's HOBBY! 1 case was also FOTL

I pulled a Herby downtown from a cello off the Target website. I pulled a fire of a random eagles DL. I don’t open massive amounts but I would say Blasters are becoming my least favorite configuration of retail in the past two years

I've opened over 30 blasters of 2021 optic and never pulled a downtown...pulled plenty of the my house inserts and 3 or 4 jsy cards but no one good....only thing u pull a crazy amount of is color rc's really

Hit my 1 and only personal downtown pull this year out of a Hanger. Trey Lance. Sold week before his injury.
The Lance and Mahomes downtowns are some of the nicest cards I’ve seen. I’m about 20 boxes in with zero downtowns

We need part 2, but with the hangers. The hangers are the...well you know. Anyways I'm pretty sure that saying came from Optic football hangers, they are sweet! Oh and might as well do a Kaboom hunt too like the others are saying.

I noticed you said you were getting a lot of blues/purples. Strangely it doesn't specify on the box but I noticed 5 boxes in a row gave you 3 blue rookies.
That can't be a coincidence so each blaster must always give 3 blue rookies. I stopped counting after 5 boxes in a row lol.

I have been chasing the downtown pull for so long!!! I love the hobby. I never done it as a kid growing up but I bought my first blaster box about a year ago and I am hooked it is fun. I love the thrill. I used to waste my money on lottery now I’m not wasting money because I can get a little bit back! I love your videos you’re awesome what you do for the hobby and what you do for your followers you’re number one in my book I’m sure and a lot of other people think that also! Thank you for the entertainment once again
Maybe chase for the Elephant in retail select? It personally is the only retail hit I have never pulled.

Wow no parallels at all? Mosaic seems better with the honeycomb, genesis, and parallels. I was seeing 5 hits per case with Mosaic blasters
I got a Barry Sanders downtown from the only box of optic football I’ve opened. I got it for my birthday a few months ago

That is some elusive chase cards right there. You'd figure they'd be a little more generous with some hits from opening that much.
So when you purchase a card on the marketplace on the arena website are they held there in a vault or are they shipped to you

Just got my first downtown out of a donruss blaster. (There’s currently 2 types of boxes. One of them is red. I got it in the one marking it having ultra rare downtowns on the outside of the box). I only bought 1 box and got lucky. Last time I got blaster optics I opened up 25 blasters over the course they were out. No downtowns
Please do this same challenge with ‘22 mosaic. I GUARANTEE you’ll pull 20 case hits. They’re everywhere sadly
Highly disappointed with retail, the fact that you can’t hit autos is disappointing as well as only 2 mem cards. Yikes. Need a part 2!
Retail has got to the point of essentially a no buy. Price for return on Prizm and Optic was already awful, but now it's just embarrassingly awful.
what about mosaic atm ?
My only downtown was out of a blaster and two packs before the downtown was a tee higgins fire emoji, im wondering if its somewhat of a marker card for the other ssp cards
I pulled a Travis E. fire emoji and finished the case and no DT.
In my experience it seemed that the first shipments to retail stores had the hits. Or I was just very lucky! Did not open 20 blasters but opened about 10, 20 hangers and 5 megas. I pulled 4 downtowns and 2 fire emoji cards. Of and the downtowns or fire cards were always the 3rd card in the packs for blasters and megas.

I’d rather see how many prizm football blaster until you get a rookie red white and blue. I’ve seen a ton opened now and none have had any. Crazy.

Downtowns are difficult to hit. Also, in ALL the Absolute I've seen opened this year I've only seen 1 Kaboom also. Have seen numerous Genesis, Honeycomb and just a couple stained glass.
So, Downtowns, Kabooms and Stained Glass are all EXTREMELY difficult to get in retail.
Better luck next time. I did enjoy the chase though.

It's crazy to me that some regular looking inserts are so rare. Imagine being the designer for that GloBALL insert, cool looking design but I must have opened 100+ blasters of Optic this year and maybe saw TWO of those inserts! Just give us more inserts, less base

if you bought all your blasters loose on Ebay, someone could have already pulled a Downtown and then sold the rest of the blasters to unsuspecting people, so the chances of you pulling one are slim to none

Found a sleeve of the hanger boxes in the wild a couple weeks ago couldn’t help but try the downtown hunt also with no success
