  • "Moreton Bay" is an Australian folk ballade likely dating from the mid-1800s. Its verses are attributed to an Irish writer and convict named Francis MacNamara (a.k.a. Frank the Poet), who was sent to Australia in the 1830s.     For these Australian and Irish songs, some of the words often aren't familiar to modern audiences. Therefore, I've decided to add a short glossary below for words in the song that need defining.
    "Erin's Island": Ireland
    "Triangles": wooden tripods that convicts were tied to while being flogged
